I hope Houston walks in and questions Osh why Thomas is still ******* starting7 points

I wonder if we take a DI Lber off the AR for Logan, and carry both he and Vaval. Logan would be the 2nd return guy on Kick offs and could be a rotational piece on O. Atleast in theory any way. Don't really want to see Schoen back till he is at what ever his new 100% is.5 points

Doesn't appear to be any injured Bomber players from the Ottawa game. Lawson should be back in for Thursdays game. Logan looks to be an option as he's practicing.5 points -

Well, I wouldn't blame them for no longer wanting to start him It was quite noticeable in his last start, that he gets confused when a D shows different looks Throws a nice ball, but can't read a D very well5 points -
We use Schmekel in the heavy set OL package without the 7th OL on the Roster. Then we also have MCI, and a bunch of tweener size guys to pick from. We don't need more size / extra Ol on the roster. And eli wasn't getting manhandled lol. Eli and Schmekel played really well in their heavy set pack. At this point, we are drastically better off dressing Schmekel, than Vibert.5 points

That's for guys who already signed here and went down in the middle of their rookie deal. Like when Ford was gone he ran down a year. Otherwise for guys who have never been in the CFL they would need to be on NFL 53 man or IR for 3 games in a season for it to count. PR doesn't.4 points -
I do have my own database. It's the CFL's play by play and then my charting going back to 2015. I used to have access to the CFL's play-by-play database. It was gone after the switch to Genius, and I'm working at learning how to access their stuff. In the meantime I rip each game's play by play PDF into various Excel files. From there I work on charting, field goals, punting, 2nd/3rd downs, run game, expected vaule of field position...a whole bunch of things that I think have value for future discussions.4 points

yeah we have the guys here, and the skill sets to really set our defense on the right track....but sooooo stubborn clinging to guys who just dont make us our best....but Osh likes them....so they remain And agree...Wallace needs to stay on....yo-yopng him around is not the best thing for him....and who knows...could sit in his mind and be a deciding factor in him bolting Bailey can come on as the 45th guy for a Canadian...so take pick of Ball or Thomas...3 points

It sucks, I really Like Ayers and Jjones too. But we refuse to use them on D, and you just can't bury all your DI talent with guys who don't contribute on D/O. On teams, Ayers has seen a ton of double teams this year and is still making solid plays. I think his value for a purely Teams Di is the highest of anyone outside of Sergio. Maaaaaan, getting Woods on and Thomas off would be HUGE for our D. Woods and Adams inside more would be incredible. Take Kyrie out, and roll with the Jones' and Ayers with the Dime/wil package. And get Shay/Smith in some as well. Then the DL with Lawson and Schmek to rotate inside, Person and put bailey on to rotate on the edge. That front would be devastating to other teams Os. Getting Dandy on would be huge as well. Griffin is such a gem, excels in any play call, position, no matter who you have around him. He's Nichols 2.0. I'm interested to see what we do with Vanterpool when he is healthy again. I'm not sure Wallace will be coming off.3 points -

makes sense as Osh is a poor curator of a roster...right from game One in his inaugural season...and after 12 yrs still is bad at it....it never gonna change Ayers off for Woods makes most sense......J.Jones when used a lot on defiance in that initial game that Griffin went to SAM...Well the defense looked like night and day....Lat game and the one previous....he barely got on the field, and the defense again has issues..... Smart move too would be to sit Thomas a few games and roll With Lawson and Schmeck....do we see the smart move.....probably not. And yeah Ball made 2 plays last game.....as opposed to none his other 3....so really swapping him out for Bailey or even Vibert to get some snaps and see what he adds would make sense too....but we lack in the sense department as well Jones been real good on trams tho too....Ayers gets used out of position...so why not just put Bailey on for what they use Ayers for and then figure out who of Woods and Logan gets on...we need to be tinkering and seeing what our best options are3 points -

Logan on for say Ayers would make sense and could be a boost to both the return game and the offense. If Lawson is back, do they go Lawson, Schmekel and Jake or take one off (cough JAKE cough)?3 points -

I can’t see how the O line could run out of steam with how many 2 and outs we have. They should be well rested.3 points -
In my opinion, that is still to be determined. There were plenty of good catches last week, as well taking hellacious hits to make plays Ottawa might not have the best secondary, but they do play with aggression3 points

Houston has exerience in league....knows the players and the standard sets in the CFL and has familiarity with basically most our defense so if anything thats a plus Has he evolved his game and is more cerebral about his approach and picks a better time to gamble?....we shall see.....I really don't recal his CGY performance tho....did he reign it in a bit there? Dandy I also agree...why he was let go is beyond me....other than the typical Osh tendency to keep hold overs even if not the best choice....and brings a lil more physicality too which is needed Imagine if from game 1 we had dressed Person....Allen...say a Dandy, had Schmeck from game one as opposed to the what in the hell Korn rostering...Even J.Jones tho he still gets limited reps....how much further along we could be on defenc with cohesion and guys getting reps/experience3 points
-
he could possibly be a good player, if he reigned in his gambling he’d have a chance. If he hasn’t gotten past the reckless play he’s gonna be another bridges. The league has seen plenty of db injuries, and no one else has brought him in. I like Dandy coming back. he was one of the guys that should’ve stuck in camp. Sucks that cooley is gone, but we can barely make use of brady, and peterson has shown he has legit talent. wouldn’t mind if cooley is back in camp if he doesn’t get picked up. Im glad we’ve made moves, i wish we brought in more wrs though. that’s a bigger hole than db.3 points
-
I appreciated Younger's answer when he was asked why they let both Bighill and Alexander go at the same time, given how important leadership and communication are. "The other side of that is the physical toll that the game takes. Either way, you have a challenge. Whether the challenge is communication or physical limitations - you choose your challenge."2 points

yup.....same..maybe the demotion behind Korn lit a fire...If he can contribute like that game in and game out then he deserves to be on...He works great in the short yardage both sides of the ball so has purpose there beyond any extra reps he gets on defensive rotation...Thomas does not and is probably our slowest and least impactful guy off the snap....so why even bother2 points -

Unfortunately, we haven't been using Jjones much. I would expect him to come off as a DI before Ayers at this point. I would also bet that someone like Ball is more likely to come off for Lawson. Thomas would be the dream, but I dare not hope for that.2 points -
Like you weren't headed there anyways and have nothing to lose. There are persistent rumours out of the Big Smoke that Kelly is not responding to treatment and may be done for the year or longer. Or maybe he is just malingering- who knows?2 points

Same here. And with hindsight, maybe we just weren't using Lawler to his full potential. Felt like with us we'd just toss up a couple 50 yard jump balls to him and he'd make a couple highlight catches. Hamilton is just using him as a stud in all situations and its working.2 points -

NFL experience now counts against their CFL rookie deal so if they spend enough time down there, they don't need to sign a rookie contract. "Among the miscellaneous items of interest to fans, Canadian players returning from the NFL with more than three years of experience will no longer be required to sign slotted rookie contracts. Each year of NFL service will count towards one season of their CFL rookie deal." https://3downnation.com/2022/05/26/details-of-the-cfls-new-cba-salary-cap-increases-ratio-changes-and-guaranteed-contracts/2 points -

Good move on Houston.... we have no problem, as it seems the altercation with his wife wasn't what had actually transpired...His penchant for 'show boating' which raised the ire of a few, is overcome by his talent as a pretty good db...something this club is in dire need of....Too bad we couldn't keep Cooley....someone will pick him up...Like the Petersen kid though....he has the tools and has a good future in the league.....Hopefully he sticks around2 points

As long as the team keeps making steps in the right direction... Keeps getting healthier... Keeps bringing in guys who can play.... I'm happy. Fix the OL and give Collaros more time, and I think he (and the whole O) starts looking better...1 point

Except for his tendency to go for the flashy play instead of making the tackle or knockdown.1 point

I much prefer schoen to Lawler but that's me. Lawler can be amazing, but some games he wasn't amazing. We can debate schoen coming off the injury and whether he was ready or not but I'd have picked schoen over Lawler too.1 point

Ford, still even with the Injuries we have, I stand by he would not be worth his contract. Lawler in hindsight was a "miss" even at his contract value......1 point

The game in Calgary turned on a dime when Streveler was stuffed on 3rd and short at around the Stamps 10. Had we scored, I believe victory was distinctly possible even with the DBs dressed that day and some other brain freezes by our OC. Easy for me to say though. The CFL is an intetesting league, on any given (pick a day).....1 point
