Whenever I get asked about why Mitchell isn't playing I say it's because he's an X wide receiver. And to get him in would require he or Wheatfall changes position. Based on having Case in for Schoen on Sunday I have to believe the Bombers have reservations too. The first day of camp this year they had Mitchell at slot next to Wheatfall. The next day Mitchell was at X with the 2s. And since the end of camp that's where he's stayed. Mitchell has played some slot in his career but the Elks clearly felt he was a WR. For his career I've got him with 151 targets at WR and 55 in the slot--73% WR is pretty high. When they signed Geno Lewis in 2023 they tried Mitchell in the slot but eventually bumped him out to Z. Watching his '24 and '23 Sunday night Mitchell had some real struggles with the waggle...more hesitant than most guys. How much was him and how much was the bad QB situations in Edmonton...who knows.

I think he fits in the locker room, but he does for sure have real character flaws. Stupid amounts of money. But damned if he isn’t earning it. first off, thanks for the snap break down, some great info there. now rant on lol, If you sign a guy like that you should have a good understanding and expectation of if you can coach him up and how much you can do. It’d be really egregious to bring him in at that bonus, thinking he can only play one wr spot. Where you have a younger cheaper guy grooming with upside. Especially after last year going into it with on paper an elite wr core, probably the most expensive hands down. Then seeing every one struggle and miss games, massive under performances, that should’ve made the important clear. If not the years of chasing top flight WRs each off season to never land one. You can use motion to ease a guy into the waggle, which Edmonton didn’t do. And you can split reps, plus you don’t need to be schoen min maxing the waggle every snap. Dillion Mitchell is a player in this league, Kase has been below replacement level as a wr and kr. If Mitchell is that hard stuck, we gotta dump him and bring in some one with versatility to play more spots. Feels Lousy as a bomber fan that what ever our front office and coaching staff does is automatically good enough. And not just to us but to them. 30k plus fans a game deserve better.

How refreshing it is having Laura Diakun as guest host in the absence of Kate Bierness? She's a pro who keeps the panel on task & guess what?? They actually can have an interesting football discussion with Diakun. Unlike Bierness, who is all over the place with her comments, jokes, wild laughter & skits. The panel just follows her lead & gets goofy. Bierness is not a host. She lacks the discipline that Diakun has, She seems perfectly suited to be the full time host of TSN football. I wish TSN would make a change.

I think beating VA is actually really simple. Just have to move him off his first read. Can do that different ways. Bombers absolutely carved him up dropping 8-9 in coverage the past two seasons. We got killed in last game by a couple contested catches and our own turnovers. Sask plays a really predictable and soft Cover 3 shell and if they can't get any pressure with 4 you can call Matt Dunigan and tell him he needs to worry about his record.

He also recently said he has no desire to coach (other than his kids teams). He said he's had a long career and his family life has revolved around that so the life of a coach life isn't really what he wants when he's done.

And the fact that for the remainder of the year Brown did more with the same team as Zach. That offseason was the time to make the big move and lock in with Brown (and have Streveler as his backup) and ship collaros and his boat anchor of a contract but for whatever assets you can get.

Yeah that would be the best use of assets..having both Logan and Mitchell back for KR too Be nice to swap Bailey for Weitz too...we know what Weitz offers...not much...havnt even noticed him on teams, so time to see what Bailey has to offer. Why we don't see what guys have in game reps is baffling If we go 3 nationals too be nice to see one of Person or J.Jones as well

Yeah not sure why people saying he not or can't play slot...hes done it...plus he is a pro so should be able to anyway...we also use our guys in all the spots as well...that's just a nonesense excuse

My 2 cents... The league got bogged down in logistics for Calgary and completely forgot about the fans. How they handled this was completely ridiculous. They've significant shortened how long they will delay games for thunderstorms, but an air quality delay can be indefinite? Policy should be the call is made based on the numbers 1 hour before the game. At the latest. 1.5-2 hours would be more reasonable. If they want, have the decision made in consultation with public health in the city or someone like that. The CFL can't seem to figure out their own parameters on what is safe or not, or whether it's Labour Day and we can't cancel or not. Take the decision out of their/TSN's hands then. Need to have some respect for the health, safety and time of the customers.

Time to release Dillion Mitchell if you have no intentions of playing him. Absolutely ridiculous at this point.

Its a home Grey Cup year and it feels like MOS and KW are fine with the status quo despite the cracks we all can see (ZC on the decline, Dline not generating a lot of pressure, Lack of top end WR talent, Lack of Canadian depth). Making it worse, with the exception of Edmonton, every team in the West is at worst solid and I'd say two, BC and Calgary appear on the upswing, while we seem to be going the other way.

Kody Case? WTF? Mitchell can't beat out that non entity?

I believe we can get better pressure with better rotation. We need another actual DE on the roster. Looking at the forecast 24C 90% chance of rain and wildfire air advisories.....if we are under 8 and even able to play, it will be Smokey and humid, guys will will need rotation on Friday.

Vernon Adams has to be pressured....Watching the last 2 games they played , it was obvious they were giving VAJ every opportunity to sling the ball...Now was that because they have an all star O line, giving Adams all kinds of time to progress with 2 sometimes 3 read before he chucks the ball....I think not...The opposition is not pressuring this guy enough....The key to beating the stumps is to get their qb on his horse....Letting him play pitch and catch downfield all game, will result in the same outcome we suffered in Cal last game...We also have to get our act together offensively....We cannot underperform like the last dismal effort...IF Zack can't deliver...I believe it's Streve time

Both of Calgary's 1st rounders, Alford and Fortin are starting. Veresuk for Hamilton also starting. White in Ottawa. Just naming a few. Meanwhile Shay who pre draft was being touted as pro ready and Alex Singletonesqe and Smith are getting no reps on D. Frustrating.

But as long as osh is here...ZC...guys like Thomas...kolo...JOnes...Wilson..Kramdi...Scmeck/Korn...Punter guy...Hallett...Weitz will be starters or have roles even if not the best option...let alone actually worthy..status quo we go with Osh

Basically our whole off-season and then TC and first part of season has been an epic fail/flop for receiver...can say for dline too to be honest Banking on incumbents who couldn't crack a roster last yr...or this camp ( Case/Sterns in Sask) a guy coming off a serious injury which to a receiver can take up the second season back to be back in form (Schoen) another guy ..White who came back from similar and didn't look like he was what he was last year...and then got cut here as he wasn't what he was (further proof to that)...Not adequately replacing Canadian depth behind Clercius and Demski...another guy who can you really can't count on 18 games of full health?....and then Mitchell...a giyi who's head always seems to not be screwed on tight...and this now apparent lack of trust or inability to coach up a guy to play multiple spots...with a 65k signing bonus on it to boot....did younot do your homework and come to a realization he was limited in usage?....like cmon wtf were e doing this off-season besides standing pat and resting on laurels....of which has failed us 3 straight cup games now Lewis was out there....Coxie...Rhymes...Lawler...amoung others, and this notion he "didnt fit Osh's culture"...screw that....we need some giys with edge...and play like a prick at times...Apparently Osh likes that as he said thats what he loves about playing an inferior guy at SAM....Kramdi....so that theory is horseshit....if you have a room full of these "osh culture" guys they surely will get others to fall in line We sucked the major big one on various levels this off-season...our depth is for most part other than DB and linebacker non-existent and some talented guys we do have, don't get a chance to show it as they play second fiddle to a bunch of slugs.....and it's gonna bite us hard again when it counts ZC is in serious decline ...a crew we gonna walk out this week...Knicked up Demski...Clercius...Wheatfall...Sterns and Case...with Corcorran as back up....good fricken god that horrible and scares nobody.....and 3 lil smurf guys are not what we need to help cratering ZC....As we seen the majority of balls he been throwing last couple seasons...he needs bigger guys with catch radius or physicality to win contested battles...we have one of them (Clercius) and maybe Wheatfall but teams with this group we have complimenting him will take him right outta play....pathetic hasnt been one game if you been really watching.... just a classic case of Osh holding onto and using guys he likes...or have been here for a bit even tho they have done diddly....I truly think he is a poor evaluator of talent and uses a lot of the wrong tings as to what he determines as important for success on field

ZC has never looked the same since that neck injury against the Elks in EDM a few years ago.

Weitz was moved to the PR a couple weeks ago.

Yeah that’d be a pretty big down grade. Vaval needs to grow make a few better decisions and be more secure. But that’s typical of rookie krs. Hes worth developing and teaching. especially since he looks like a legit db. Vaval and schoen for Logan and Mitchell would be well worth while though.

Dillion Mitchell does and has played slot. below the very first highlight has him in the slot. You can find lots of similar in his high lights up here. Also WRs in the cfl motion and move depending on formation, package, and passing concepts. No one is solely a field or wr or boundary slot. This is mos roster management. If they actually played case in a game over any imp wr it would be completely absurd.

Boy I don’t want to see Kase in the starting core… glad vanterpool is getting more T reps. Hopefully Stan is ok and tbh can step back up. Good to see Logan finally starting to get healthy too.

Agree on pressure but I don't think our Dline can generate enough. JY is going to have to be creative. On offense. need to be better, with how the receiving group looks right now, I have my concerns.

He obviously feels he can still play .. that conversation would likely have been a non-starter.

helps when a) you draft guys who can play...or b) give guys with ability the chance/reps.....something we rarely do unless forced to due to injury or defection.... That even goes for import talent we recruit too Theres also Ugalak in Mtl...Dequay...even Sask has guys taking sig reps...Saad....Busby last yr...we just draft guys who we see as ST and rely on an aging/declining group of "starter" ...I have that in quotes as some aren't starter worthy mainy because we had some success in 2019 and 2021....thats poor assed coaching man

Yeah collaros is being rewarded way too much for 19 and 21, one of those years he wasn't even a main factor in the game. Dude's old and not the same guy he was. He can't be the unquestioned starter anymore.

Finally back from an extended trip down way down south (Brazil) and back in good ol Canada - and finally able to catch up on things. And I agree the game with the Stamps will be a tough win for us IMHO. What really concerns me is the quality of our DL. I am starting to think both Jake and Willy may be past their "best before dates". But all in all great to be back in Canada and really happy to be able to watch some CFL games and get back in swing of things Bomberwise!!!!

Read DTs post... It explains a lot. Fingers crossed for Case to have taken a step this year. As for "this next game will tell a lot"... I'm not sure it does if we're missing two really impactful players on O. Yes, everyone is a starter... I definitely get that.... But it's not like we're responding this week with the same line up as last week. I am hopeful for a win in front of another sold out raucous crowd, but Calgary is gonna make it way harder than it needs to be.

If Mitchell can’t beat this guy he has really ticked Osh off or has somehow managed to finagle some incriminating photos of the coach 😂 I prefer the PC term “less impactful” rather than non entity BTW 😉

Dillon Mitchel, must have something up, As DT mentioned we tried him at slot and it didn't work and we have never gone back. It has to be something. Case is going into year two, this should be a golden opportunity for him, a chance many never get. I really hope he makes the most of it, do I have some reservations....yes, but let's hope he gives us some production, honestly Schoen hasn't exactly been lighting up the stat sheets himself.....My biggest concern is Zach now going to get hyper focused on Demski again.....

Most fans aren't in the shape of a football player. The average man & woman expend a lot of energy climbing up & down stairs as they're out of shape. Parents brought babies & little kids to the game & their immunity systems haven't developd like that of adults. Is any long term damage being done being exposed to the noxious chemicals in the smoke? I'd bet that never came up in the hours long discussion between the CFL, CFLPA & TSN on rescheduling the game. The only safety issue to those 3 was protecting the players but not the fans. The league doesn't take that into consideration. Decisions need to be made much quicker with a whole set of different parameters neded to speed things up. Making people wait like that for hours in those conditions was absolutely ludicrous.

To be fair, that was like 67 years ago. Medical science and treatment has improved since then 😉

Case had 1 catch for 5 yards in three games last year. Believe he didn't play this past pre season. Had 1 catch for 4 yards last pre season. Seriously why is he still around? Logan as another offensive weapon and the returner would be interesting. Hopefully another defender in to help the Dline too.
