  1. 'He's one of the best to ever do it, if not the greatest to do it': Riders' Kian Schaffer-Baker touts GOAT status for Trevor Harris - 3DownNation 😄😂🤣

  2. That type of low accountability, toxic culture, seems to follow Rick Campbell around. Can't out-talent that.

Former NFL DL Christian Covington blames lack of ‘self-accountability’ for B.C. Lions’ disappointing 2024 finish - 3DownNation Was this the same sentiment by Kongbo when he was with the Leos?

  5. Didn't think Patterson was gonna stick around and last....was a pointless signing when you think about it. Pretty sure they wanted to get eyes on Strev in camp to just confirm he good to go, so we didnt have to go in to the start of season with 2 basically rookies behind ZC Wilson showed more than enough last yr to be developed and groomed behind ZC and Strev with big upside...Swapping him for Patterson would have been 2 steps backwards..as his upside has been met....and it's not pro starter ability

  6. When you outplay Dallas for most of 2 periods but your goaltender allows a softie, that's tough. No one that I know is expecting shutouts - just that goals like that one shouldn't be going in. If that happens next game, their chance of winning will go down significantly.

  7. I hope we are bringing in Dayton Black. Even if he isn't good enough to win a starting spot, nice depth and type of guy who is athletic enough to be quite useful as a 6th or 7th guy.

  11. I did not say any of that either. I said he allowed one soft goal, which he did. I said that was a factor, which it was.

  13. Well, I think you have to put some of that on scouting as well. Can't sign vets at every position to push guys so these young recruits have to do it. I don't care what camp you go to, in any sport, the challenger has to clearly beat the incumbent to earn that spot. So if we have some guys that seem to be on the roster just because, I have to wonder where was the guy who should have been pushing him out the door. I got no love for the fact guys like JT etc were getting far more snaps than they probably should have, but who was behind them on the depth chart to push them out? It becomes trickier when you add in ratio. I mean you have a list of several guys you say shouldn't have even been on the roster last year, honestly, name the player on our DC that was head and shoulders better? Could we have played musical chairs with our ratio...maybe...but at the end of the day we also have to consider STs as well. It's not as simple as putting out your best 53 players. You have to build a team, not just assemble talent. There are factors at play beyond player X is better or as good as player Y or let's rob Peter to pay Paul. If fans ran this team just based on what we know guys like Evan Holm or Kramdi who are absolute stud players now would have gotten the apple and a road map. Why? Because at the end of the day we think we know the whole picture, but we have access to only a very small % of the knowledge of what each player brings to the table in a team setting and what value a player may provide to the team that we will never lay eyes on, or hear about. So while a guy may seem like dead weight to us fans, he may provide a massive amount of value to our team in ways that we just don't see. Older guys that bring value to the room, are excellent in the film room and willing to bring the younger guys up to snuff and teach them the right way to prepare, and then the young guys who may seem shaky at first but the coaches see the potential not just on game day but in every rep at every practice, and in every meeting. These are all things that add value to a TEAM. I would rather we build a TEAM, than assemble talent that doesn't work well together. Then we would be the Riders.

  14. I just don't understand how this is the best road team in the NHL and yet they can't win a f****** playoff game on the road. It's abysmal Where is the f****** offense? Why does the power play suck??? Like I know everyone is banged up now but like show some effort and heart... Get the greasy goals. Not everything's going to be a skill play. And today's game isn't solely on Hellesuck. I definitely think he should have had that first goal... Even Arneil says it should have been stopped. But when you give up a soft goal like that, it totally affects the team's psyche. You play nervous and tight because you're concerned that another s***** goal is going to be let in. I just don't understand why this team is struggling as bad as they are. Dallas traded for Rantanen and Granlund and they have single-handedly destroyed the Jets this series.

  15. Yeah, the soft goals hurt… They are demoralizing, but Dallas recovered just fine after a much weaker goal. The lack of scoring is hurting us more. We had chances last night, but just couldn’t cash in, and Dallas did. It’s not that simple, but it’s kinda that simple. We don’t have good scoring depth and it’s showing up. The PP has to make some adjustments. Their movements have become predictable. Maybe some more shots from the point? Or shots in general. At least so the defenders have to respect that possibility more. And for God’s sake…. Take Appleton off of the PP 2 unit. To say he doesn’t belong is massive understatement.

  17. True,...you can field a roster of all star calibre players but if they aren't accountable to each other, or they are toxic, you won't win many games when it counts. Coaches like Campbell and Chris Jones just see talent level and nothing else, where other coaches who develop culture, work ethic, and accountability and actually use it as part of an assessment of their roster tend to have much greater success.

  18. You can tell when Helle is dialed in and when he's not. He tends to sit way too far back in his net and not be aggressive. In G7 3rd period and into OT, we saw the MOP Helle show up. Through this series he's slowly lost that and gone back into his shell.

  24. true....too bad we as a team don't use that mindset....if that was the mind set on other positions....as honestly several guys the last several season's have secured a roster spot on nothing other than....well nothing lol

  25. Shea was worth a look. Some young QBs have that light bulb moment where the game slows down for them and they just get it. Look at Fajardo for instance, who went from PR level talent his first few years to being a starter....albeit not a good one...but still definitely at the very least a high end backup. Roll the dice on Shea and see if that light bulb has turned on, if not, apple and a road map. At the very least Shea pushes Strev and Wilson to make sure they have a top notch offseason of preparation. Nothing pointless about putting guys on the roster that are just there to push who you know will be on your roster in the end. Gotta keep everyone honest.

  26. I hoped this would be the move. 5 + the cis kid is too many arms in camp to have 2 QBs ready for game 1 and 2. Likely means either chase is doing really well, or another qb is inbound and he’s next on the slicer.

  32. Definitely lost some weight, thought I heard some thing but now I’m not sure. Hopefully he’s just working on losing weight and is healthy. The last of a generation of treasures. We will never see the like of him again sadly. Looks pretty close. At this point we are moving guys around and it’s still very fluid. After ps game 1 I think it’ll be more ironed out. Thanks for making the list to keep track. With numbers would be amazing.

  35. Fun to sit and watch practice today... Been about 20 years since I was last able. With respect to the late great Randy Turner, the king of Odds and Sods writing.... here's some thoughts: -All jokes aside, Jake Thomas looks like he's lost at least 30lbs and maybe 10 years. Not sure it'll translate but he gave himself a chance. -There were a number of guys who I thought looked leaner (Adams the DL and Wallace, notably) and I wonder if there's a concerted effort by Brendan the trainer to get guys faster this year -Makonzo got hurt. Wasnt carted off, but he landed awkwardly in coverage and came up favouring his wrist. Didn't look good. -Mitchell looks very smooth and runs good routes. -If Vaughters can stay healthy, he is just an absolute load. He and Willie would be very hard to handle. That said, they were doing a drill to see who could get off the line fastest without being offsides and Jake beat Vaughters and was giving him a hard time. We'll call that a one off. -Both Zach and Strev looked good, tho Strev had a couple brain cramps. One under thrown ball that he was immediately angry about and I think a botched run play that he took the heat for. Patterson definitely has a rifle arm... Accuracy is the question. - I have hopes for Keric Wheatfall to take another step this year. -Our LB corps, as already noted, is very very deep and the coaches have a lot of options. People were shifting around a lot but packages with Kyrie at MACK was interesting. -Watched a lot of OL/DL 1v1... OL wasn't terrible, though it seemed like there would be holding calls on a number of plays. DL are just so much faster and you're trying to not get put on roller skates. Thought Wallace showed very well and some of the Americans like Randolph, Vanterpool and Lofton as well. In the reps we saw, we didn't think Neufeld looked very good. It was a bit concerning watching him get "walked" by a few DL. -Its very impressive what Mike Benson does. He really whips that ball and it is so deadly accurate. -Coaches are all very engaged and animated. Osh was hollering pretty good at one point about a missed tackle "You gotta have that!!" Richie, JY, Costello, among others, very very active and involved. -Stan and Willie are both basically coaches. They do a lot of teaching. That's just a few thoughts. I didn't take notes or anything.. just tried to enjoy the sunshine and being at the barn again. I love the CFL, I love the Bombers, and I love Manitoba summers.... It's great to be home.

  37. No question... We need a lot more offensive production. Especially on the PP. It was an absolute clown show of errors at times yesterday with odd man rushes. That 4-on-1 was straight up embarrassing...

  38. This club needs another Dustin Byfuglien...We need a 'heavy', to put those cheap shots like the one on Schief, in check...Dallas is getting away with a lot of crap due to poor officiating BUT with a player like Buff to police things , that cheap-shot bs disappears... We're also not taking enough shots on goal when the opportunity is there....too many passes around their goal and not enough pucks on net...We have to get this kid Otto off of his game or it'll be 'that's all she wrote'...

  49. I am excited to see Jonahton jones from TO. I think him a lot more than Tony. He has the same ability to gap fill, but is much more rangy. Tony was a liability in pass pro a bunch of times last year. Maybe he puts it together and improves but going into camp, I have J jones well ahead of T jones. Makonzo is a low key steal pick up too. Having a guy like him on the back end of the roster gives us a lot of versatility. He could end up saving us a DI, which would be huge. I love his physicality and fit with what we do. Smith and shay I am intrigued to see if a full camp and rookie camp ends up putting Smith ahead of Shay. Or if they flip one to S. Both guys have such a great tool set and athleticism. The tweener build is really a huge luxury in that package. Both guys could replace the tired old NI LBer pack and give us a package S or 2nd S, a pass rusher, run stopper, or mid zone wall guy. It's going to be exciting to see how both get mixed in. Rotating Lbers, might be the new rotating DL of 2019/21. Bailey could do some similar tweener stuff too, though he has such a nice, polished pass rush move set to go with excellent athleticism, he could just be a package nightmare. The Als used to do that with Menard and others. Have a guy who is just a killer edge rusher, send him in for a few plays each game but having him at 100% and going 100% for each of those snaps. I really hope we don't stick to 2-3 NI DTs and lose one of woods or adams. Woods was soo good as a nose last year, I really want to see him start this year beside lawson. Adams has such insane athleticism and versatility he can be a real game changer with some polish and cardio. If we dress Woods, adams, wj, Vaughters, lawson and bailey, we are going to have a pressure front with out blitzing like we haven't seen since peak stove.

  50. We have the Jones we signed form T.O...Ayers....We now have Mokonzo....guys who all showed they belong....If Jaylem Smith and Shay show they can take reps....That Bailey kid who I see as a guy all over the field...Griffin....and actually Person's who I can see used as an Uber-jack type guy....we have a lot to work with in what we gonna do...Tony Jones and Kyrie should be seriously worried about their jobs...and rightfully so....we also have Kramdi who passport alone should keep him in place over those 2....Jones like Kramdi have some holes in their game and are vulnerable in some aspects...top notch in others....so if it's a this or that you keep Kramdi for his National status...and fact we may employ 3 to 4 National/Global guys in the line backing corp gives even more reason to cut bait with 2 national bottom end DT's in lieu of playmaking imports...as the roster makeup would allow it so easily
