  5. cant argue there....and toss in Hansen another yr removed from his injury and we look pretty good we really dropped the ball when Haba was out not grabbing Lemon to finish out the season here...sad part he wanted to come here and expected this is where he would have landed......and in his 10 games so far..22 tackles...7 sacks...2 picks...a FF....would have been a nice compliment to our DE's, and another good guy for Haba to learn from.

  7. Lions will stack the box in order to take Oliveira away, but that ought to open up the crossing routes, slants and quick outs. Woli/Demski time! And Lawler is way past due to break out.

  8. I am happy with MOS as coach. I don't like the roster management. Still enjoy every game and of course am enjoying the success.

  9. To be clear, I’ve been critical of roster management, yes. There’s still no head coach I’d rather have here than Mike O’Shea.

  10. You would have liked to think we knew of potential Neuf not being able to go prior to the other days walkthrough at home .and yesterday's travel day and posting of the depth chart and have accommodated for the possibility....as in bring an extra body...a Canadian one...but...we cut our only viable one left... Burtenshaw a FB who could have took that roster spot...and even further so could have bumped Jackson and allowed another Dline man...or db as we have zero depth in either spot....but that would make sense...now we are a man short on roster...and still as thin at 2 key defensive positions...Neuf will dress just to satisfy the quota of Canadians needed but be of zero use...now if that's not an example of poor coaching/roster management I don't know what is...especially going into the most important game of season....flame away those who don't see it

  11. It all comes down to pass rush and that pass rush being disciplined for our defense. Don't allow the scrambles. Make BC's QB play the game from the pocket and he will struggle. The Bombers have been terrible at this so far this season and especially in the 2nd half of the season.

  14. 100% this is the best Blue Bomber era of all time. People need to chill a bit and just appreciate what is being done imo. Because it won't last forever, and one day people on here will be begging for the MOS roster management issues.

  18. Media just living in the narrative that the MOP is a QB award. The only problem I have with your analysis, wbbfan, is that this is about who's the most outstanding, and your looking at each player's worst outings. You should be looking at their best outings. It's an outstanding award, not a consistency award. Zach leads the league in TDs (30); has 6 games over 300 yards; 4 games with more than 3 TDs. Vernon leads the league in yardage; has 9 games over 300 yards; 2 games over 400; and 6 games with more than 3 TDs; he also adds 300 rushing yards. Brady leads the league in rushing yards, yards from scrimmage, and is tied with Dalton for total TDs. He has led the league in rushing in 7 different weeks (No other player has done so more than twice). Dalton leads the league in receiving yards, and is tied with Brady for total TDs Keon Hatcher leads the league (by a lot) in yards per game. In a tight race with Dalton for the yardage title. Betts leads the league in sacks (15). Which is good but doesn't really throw him into the MOP race. Houston still leads the league in INTs and FR, which could have been interesting had he continued to pick up the take aways. But he faded down the stretch and is now injured.

  21. I hope we do lose Brown, cause really he isn't a long term answer here, and I hope thats not who we hitch a wagon to DE wise,,,the Jeff's have a lot of life and value in them...look at dominant ends of recent yrs....even interior guys...are very effective into mid 30's...even past that...but with strong rotation and depth around them...thats where we need to focus on things, and develop....our roster makeup has to be revamped, and can easily be done...We have an abundance of LB's who play strictly ST's...and are basically weaknesses if they need to actually take defensive snaps....other teams have athletic tweeners/DE types who play a lot of teams....and are used in dline rotations....so it's time to make some tweaks, because if we don't...our roster will continually be hard pressed to make that happen If we dont go hard in FA period next yr to secure 2 legit Canadian Dlineman ....could be both ends, or an end and an interior guy then we will see more of the same ..especially if we have to roster an American Kicker...Bennett and Kongbo will be there for the taking...and failing to land even 1 will be an epic fail.

  26. Agreed. However, O'Shea is not infallible and shows every sign of being human. The criticism leveled at him is justified for the most part, and some of the same concerns surfaced late last season. The Bombers struggled in the playoffs and there is legitimate concern that the pattern is being repeated this year.

  27. among a small handful of people on this board. I don't think the VAST MAJORITY of fans understand what is being complained about here or even thinks about it. They think about wins and losses, and the fact that we're number 1 in the West. It's easy to get caught up in the vacuum that is MBB, but a few angry people here does not equate to the majority of the fan base.

  28. I think with a nice rotation...Jeffcoat would stay healthy...and when he is healthy...I'd say he is the best all around DE in the league....actually best dlineman in my opinion We seriously need an impact LB though who is in his prime to transition to, Biggie is good, but doesnt seem elite anymore...and is up there in age with a lot of mileage...at right price though would be an excellent DA to support next yr's starters
    2 points
  29. I think Jeffcoat needs to be cheaper, and be the 3rd end at this point. he's still really good, but we need a guy who will play more than half a season as a go to guy making that elite money. For brown, he might be a gooder, but I don't think he will be the fit or the right time line for us. And I wouldn't want to be paying him 200k+ We do, and it might be time to go into the FA pool for OL as well. Lber would be big, and some secondary pieces need adressing.

  30. What's the Over/Under for the number of times Farhan says Adams should be MOP? 50? 60?
    2 points
  31. you still dont go away from it...especially before mid 3rd quarter if down....and if we that far down early that we have to abandon the run then kiss first place and likely a return to the cup by bye BC is gonna be more concerned with how bad we gouged them deep and intermediate range last game...that should be their focus, as they know BO and our run game is gonna likely put up at least 100 anyway...They are gonna try and attack ZC and not let him set up for the shots out of the gate...so hopefully Buck has schemed for some early motion and use BO and Demski in the screen game, with Lawler and Schoen taking guys deep on skinny posts and corner routes....to start things off and see if and how BC adjusts, and how they come out

  32. for the draft....the Coach has a huge say in who is drafted...thats not a Walters decision alone...also players brought in...Coach has input in what they want/need...would like to see....but it's become apparent that Osh has his favorites...and will die on a hill with them until it gets real bad....he was like that earlier in his tenure as well with some complete head scratchers....and in all honesty...with culture established here....it doesnt evaporate with a coach leaving.....any competant coach who isn't clueless can maintain a high winning percentage when supplied with the right talent....and capable co-ordinators...they are the ones who design what we do we don't need to spy tho...why remove a guy from normal duties...a vet QB will exploit the heck out of that...may work with a raw rookie as we seen with Crum....we need to be active on the dline, with looks....stunts...and fresh capable bodies (which we don't have and is a big Achilles heal) and not sacrifice assignment to be overly fancy....mix coverages with some combined zone and man to man and make the Vaj have to actually sit in pocket and think...and we will see what he did vs Toronto....cough the ball up... On offence....throw away the cute crap, and play our game...establishing the line and run....disecting with layered short and intermediate routes with motion in the back field....and the seas will part and we will wear the undersized Lions front right down.....do this...we win...handily

  36. That is a reasonable point, each one has had big games. However every qb has had a huge game. And it's hard to compare collaros putting up 5 tds in a half to vaj putting up 4 over 4 quarters. If we want to look at the single most dominant game a player had, or how many dominant games I think that has it's own validity. But I dont think a guy should be MOP, based on 3 or 4 games in an 18 game schedule. Betts like jefferson had a couple monster games in the first 1/3 or so and hasn't done much in the last half of the season. They don't deserve it any more than the qbs imo. Argos ol, and secondary, DBs in general like Nichols, deserve strong consideration in a year like this. That is one of the most Toronto things I've seen. Right up there with the Leafs/raptors/jays losing, bad restaurants, hipsters with man buns, and traffic that makes people wish they lived in hamilton.

  40. Honestly replacing guys at LB and DL as they age out shouldn't be the most difficult thing, they've got some depth at OL as well and we know Walters loves to draft there so should be able to keep that going along. The hardest part is that we're doing this with an older QB and god knows what happens when Collaros is either gone or his production falls off. The stamps were lucky they had Mitchell from a young age, let them keep on keeping on. We see what happened to them without their QB.

  43. THATS the kind of stuff our coach did...and implemented rather routinely to catch teams napping.....hasn't happened in forever...same with going for 2 points....and the more you practice in game...the better you are...We couldn't get it done vs Ottawa...and lost....and were abysmal with it last game tho it didn't really have much an effect....my take is staff has become lazy, and as mentioned...complacent with status quo...even if not working you somewhat nailed it here....whatever the new scheme was that we felt the need to go to, should have been scrap heaped halfway into season.....plain and simple....the continued running it over and over with same lousy results is pretty much the definition of insanity. Miller and Hansen missing....would that have helped...most definately....that being said, the drop off of 2 guys in talent and skill should not have had such an effect, and if it was, then changes to personnel should have been looked into first, before reverting back...neither of which has been done....so to me thats a coaching decision/issue.....The punter tho as mentioned by you, and others isn't helping matters....on many punts the returner has had 10..15 yards to get to speed and survey the scene with little to no resistance....not what you want in a punt coverage, and a easy call of using a more traditional punt then should have been implemented, and use of the Aussie style one maybe the odd time to keep a returner honest....for all the times we have been dinged with an illegal punt, or a gouging return vs a nice one pinning a team deep is leaning very heavily to the big return/penalty. Grant back is huge, and should allow us to starting flipping the field with some regularity, as well get a possible score out of it.....after his injury, after 3...4 weeks max a true returner should have been rostered....why one wasn't is again a coaching issue, and in my opinion another fail on their part....status quo and "all the guys are #1's" comment doesn't hold weight and was apparent wasn't true Tweaked that for you...it's past tense at moment but easily reclaimed
