  1. On a diff note...Schoen has hit over 1000 yards again....Demski is 69 yards away and amazingly Lawler needs only 380 over last 4 gams to hit that mark as well, and that would be in only 12 games played....and probably have over 30 TD's combined between them...pretty damn good top 3 on a team

    FNF Al's and Arblows

Finished my Re-watch. It was a lot less of a gut-wrenching rollercoaster the second time through it, thank Flutie. Montreal found some ways to successfully attack the Argo D and to slow down our offence... No doubt that OCs & DCs around the league were taking notes. The game started the way pretty much every single game has for us. We were moving the ball easily and it looked like we'd cruise out front to a solid lead and lock up the points... but then after we were up 7-3 our offence went stone cold. Like, glacial. We set up to play them on D in what pretty much looked like a reaction to how we'd seen them before: we tried to take screens and deep balls away from them. Largely, this worked. Best I can figure is that Montreal switched to having 2 Mikes. Sankey came in. Sort of a jumbo package? This neutralized the Argos run game and without that being as reliable as it has been, we started seeing a lot of 2nd & longs. And The Chad started missing targets. Pretty bad misses on a few. Still had a 10-3 lead at HT and figured like the half came at the right time so we could figure this out... But it was the Alouettes who benefitted from the break. We got a quick FG, but they finally started having some time for Fajardo to operate. In the first half he had no time at all. Couldn't set himself, no chance to read the D before he was flushed or brought down. But now he had time and they had a new plan: They took the time which they'd found for Cody and went after the receivers who had HBs and CBs laying 7 yards off of them. (That's a typical setup for the Argos, and when we have a two TD lead, like normally we do, we can sit back and go after them aggressively and force a turnover while they are rushing to try catching up to us.) Once the Alouettes changed their focus to just taking the free yards that were on offer, they marched downfield at will on us and Fajardo went on a crazy completion streak. And then we were behind. And it felt a bit Playoff-y. Nobody has pushed us yet or forced us to dig ourselves out of trouble. Peters' interception (and he needed to do something for us after that stupid misconduct he took for flexing over a player) happened because of the hit on Fajardo's backbone by Pickett who, yet again, had a monster game. And yeah, the blocked kick (Sorry if it triggered any PTSD) we actually had two guys come through that gap... shame on their blocking. The Chad: our "rookie" QB looked deadly in the No-Huddle. I wish we'd do that more, but maybe it is so effective for us because we only break it out now and then. He basically came out with the game on the line and engineered 2 straight touchdown drives (not his fault that the first one was called back by a senseless, unrelated to the play penalty). Poise & confidence. Particularly on that 2nd TD throw to Coxie (the one that counted). That looked like it was his third read and he launched it sky high to let his man run his way underneath it. The Takeaways It was a really good weekend for the Argos overall. We lock up 1st on September 15th and don't have to play a game that matters for almost 2 months. Great news for a team with some key injuries/niggles that need to be given time to heal. No more Bye weeks, but we can strategically "make" a few of them. conversely, the Als and Tabbies are 6-6 each and will be killing themselves just to win the right to come play us. and the West is still a fight for top spot too. Bonus Takeaway: Tommy Nield is gonna be good. Already is.

  6. This is why it is so frustrating when the offense gets bogged down. It's so bloody stacked there should be no excuses.

also a great ep, indeed.... getting some back-story on Carmen's work over in Netherlands and his impact on the chef over there was really cool.

  10. For episode 6, I think the panic, anxiety, etc for the viewer is exactly what they were going for, and they nailed it. Episode 7 was also a really great episode. I also really enjoyed the one where Marcus was overseas honing his skills.

  11. Raising the cap just means the same group of players is getting more money. Players going into free agency might move to other teams and vice versa for more money. Not every team is making a profit so some giant increase to the SMS is neither feasible or some miracle solution. It's always been a bidding war trying to get the best bang for the buck. Would Collaros play better if he was getting $880K instead of $600K more or less. Kelly gets over $600K after 10 games? It just means that players reaching free agency get more as the pie is larger. Desjarlais as another example.

I think they made it quite obvious that there would be future seasons..... and judging by the popularity, it's a certainty.

  19. The show is so well written but as will all great shows it's the characters that draw you in. Carmen is the focal point but all the supporting characters all play a vital part and really make this show hum.

  20. I think waiting for Hansen and Miller to be healthy has definitely been a detriment to special teams. Having 7 OL on the roster all the time as well probably not the ideal situation for teams either.
    2 points
  21. You're not wrong though, more effective bodies on the DL are needed. Lawson and Haba have looked good, they need to get more opportunity. We are sorely missing Hansen on DL rotation and STs, I don't think we'd have all the issues we do now if he was out there wrecking people on kick coverage, I hope he's good to go after the bye.
    2 points
  22. yeah...perfectly put....and it's noticeable. Having just 1 other legit end to rotate in, and or a legit DT in the middle would do worlds of difference....Even then we could run our 3...or 4 de sets and it would as well make things extremely difficult because they way we did it with twists and stunts there was generally 2 guys coming free And back to having a legit interior....would allow Biggie and Wilson to be way more effective like in those yrs, a lot of things being chalked up to Biggie slowing down, or not being as effective is due to whats going on in front of him. Once our ends flush the quarterback or make him walk up in the pocket, or escape it there is no resistance most times between the tackles...Thomas can't get off a block anymore, and has next to no athleticism now to get after anyone and is 90% of time jogging following up the play....like literally go watch some pvr'd games and see it...Walker is much better, but he is not dominant, and when 2 guys can attack him....it's tough sledding for him and he can get washed out easier. Lawson is our best interior guy, who can take on 2 guys and not be eliminated, as well get off and make plays at l.o.s but again too many times we trot out Thomas with him, and basically it becomes negated. And then our LB's get wshed away or have to contend with a lineman or two immediately in their face...or look to be just running into the mass of bodies....they have no choice, and if they try to circumvent, and go outside or around it, makes them appear to be whiffing and not reading the play...they can't win I been complaining and likely annoying many here for months now about this, and it's purely a roster issue, and personnel thing... We roster poorly position wise, and we play personel who aren't good enough, and refuse to inject any new blood, or even try something else.....it's maddening If we rostered the Jeff's with another actual legit end...Be it Haba or give Garbutt a shot....he sure looks quick and explosive in the practices I observed, And went heavy with Walker and Lawson and found a way to get Fox in the mix...it would be night and day...and it's doable...Jackson off roster, and try Fox in place of Clements or Cole....they are never both on field anyway together on defence so pick your poison, and I would actually sit Thomas a few games and get Kelly on roster for more young athletic ST coverage...and if Hansen is back, or close then even better...we would have a front line rotation of WJ...Jeffcoat..Walker..Fox..Haba..Lawson and Hansen....7 guys...7 legit quality guys....cause as I see it..Osh will keep trotting out Kramdi at SAM, so we don't even need to actually start a Canadian on the D-line....so why the need for Thomas....he plays no teams, and just doesn't have it anymore....poor drafting the last 2 yrs and the failure to sign a National DT in FA basically made us have to keep him on

I've talked to a few people who much preferred E7 because it was a much easier watch. I didn't mind the chaos of E6 (though I understand how hard that is to watch, and it can be panic-inducing for people who have lived through similar situations) and thought it was a master class in acting, not to mention directing and cinematography. The choreography of that episode was brilliant. They're going to win so many Emmy's next year for that episode...

well we did bring in some guys....and then just dumped em...why?...who knows..Salima was a good back...and could return as well...kind of a more rounded Mcrae...given an apple and a road map Sterling at end...looked real good...and talking to Willie J he said he realy liked him and saw ton of potential....sent packing That linebacker too...Barrington Wade ..ultra athletic...just need to learn the game....showed good...and showed inexperience....sent him away, and he got a TC with Bears after, and actually did some good things in a few pre-season games Thomas that DT as well...was really good....and even tho just pre-season...still stood out...again...sent packing And now...where are we weak and deficient...KR...and all along the dline, and with a Biggie transition player to learn under him To me...all on Osh....doing his usual sticking to guys who have been here...even tho there are better options...kind of playing favorites...and standing pat and not continually improving where and when you can And the maddening part is the wasted roster positions now during games and hand-cuffing us more than we need to be....as we have regressed...ever so gradually

  28. I maintain we have more true diehards than they do, but they (until recently) have more fairweathers who come out when things are good. But when things were truly shitty for us, we still had a lot of people coming out to games and buying gear and what not. More than any other franchise when things are shitty.... and IMO... that's the true measure of a fanbase.
    2 points
  29. And then you get 60000 "fans" claiming they were always there in the stands.

  30. I think the biggest reason for their attendance downturn is that they have an inept head coach and a poor team.

  31. I do remember Swaggerville, but I do not remember the O rising up with the D. The team won games in spite of the O, not because of them. I recall games going something like this: the D gets half a dozen turnovers, most of which result in field goals - Bombers win 13-12.

O'Shea seems to have succumbed to the Dave Ritchie syndrome- loving his pet players more than the team he is responsible for. Being and ex-player with a starry career, he is a player's coach, which is good and bad. As good as O'Shea has been, Walters has built this team and will likely be in conflict with O'Shea if this persists. We will not know what is going on internally but we have to hope the self-preservation, if nothing else, will motivate O'Shea to do whatis needed and soon.

  36. The coaching / support staff is under a separate SMS. There is a problem with the concept but it has no impact on money spent on players. They should revise it so that it excludes severance salary if changes are made to staff. That becomes a limitation if a firing occurs.

  40. Imagine the interior ol if they had to deal with Dobson and Lawson both inside? Put one on a centre and one on a guard have em both bull rush then just try and block one of the Jeff’s 1 on 1 on the edge lol. Or twist Dobson over Lawson. That guy with a head full of steam on the centre with a full head of steam would be hilarious. Could double twist and have Jefferson come between the two dts. That would even allow another imp on for walker.

I've said before we should use Dobson at nose on occasion to either tie up 2 guys trying to control him, or have him just go =balls to the wall bullrushing up the gut and collapsing things....cause he could....Imagine a center an his guards trying to control those 2 both bullrushing?...good luck with that

  47. The Bombers were outcoached. Scott Milanovich is a helluva offensive coordinator. He has really helped Taylor Powell. Tommy Condell had gone stale. With his pedigree, I expect Milanovich will be a HC again in the CFL sooner rather than later.
    1 point
  48. I know Haba was on the 6-game but his play was indicative of why you don’t let new talent languish on the PR. He brought the energy, speed and effort but his lack of experience was exposed. He abandoned contain to try and rush up the middle several times, leading to Powell running for easy yards and 1st downs. He should rotate in the rest of the season so he’s better prepared come playoffs. And, for the love of god can the team get a real nose tackle… the Nevis/Stove factor is missing so badly every Bomber fan sees and knows it. Boudreau’s been with the Bombers a long time and obviously been highly successful. That said, what team allows their ST coordinator to cede mid-field starts to the opposing O for 14 straight games… like wtaf. Offense needs to add back some damned ball control. 10 minutes into the 1st quarter is not the time to abandon Oliveira. Find different and better ways to get him the ball.

  49. Set up is not totally dissimilar, just that Bennett is not anywhere close to kongbo in terms of effectiveness, no one else on the roster is as effective as Hansen and we have no one nearly as good as Stove on the roster. Talent injection please. Not all 2019, specifically the end ofnseason playoff run D. That was something special.

Hi. I used to post on ourbombers like maybe a decade ago. Good friends with Noeller and 17to85 (not even 100% sure that's their handles here). Today I'm mostly a big video nerd. I record all the games and save them. Been doing that since 2006. Been trying to get my hands on as much stuff since before then as possible too. Gotta love youtube.
