I'd be curious who you'd see us give up to make room for a big Collaros payday. I love Collaros and really think we need him back, but I also don't think he's the most important player in terms of our overall success. His QBR in 2021 was phenomenal at 111.0, even if he didn't put up gaudy passing yards. He was a factor in the success of team but not the only factor, IMO. FWIW, I'd rank the defense first in terms of overall impact to the success of the 2021 season.

If I'm Toronto I offer Collaros 575, 600k on a one-year. Is it an overpayment? Yup. But I don't see that being out of sight at all like others here do. In the shitty east, Collaros is exactly what they need. Losing an MVP qb over 100k is suicide in this league.

I believe that Zack Collaras is a reasonable individual, but perhaps there is an agent involved here. As has been stated by many on here, the benefits of signing here in Wpg, outweigh going elsewhere as far as football in the CFL. Now, if the Collaros family are making decisions based on family opportunities/health, location may be the driving factor in this decision, money maybe a secondary item. As far as numbers, here in Wpg, 475 to 495 thousand has been mentioned, which is reasonable for both parties (Zack and the Bombers), over 515 & plus is reaching. Now, I mention agent. There is a contract to the west of us, which in my opinion is not reasonable and out of line. Based on the performance of this player to the west, for starters, 20 games of starting CFL games, doesn't make elite top status pay standard. Hopefully, this isn't the starting baseline that is being used by an agent in Zack's situation. As far as Zack, the numbers mentioned above for him would be reasonable and fair. The salary market for quarterbacks is adjusting and correcting the silly stuff that was given to Michael R., BLM & Trevor Harris, 2 or 3 years back. Zack Collaras has been in the league for years, shown he can lead team(s) and has attained the elite top status pay level. He should be paid accordingly, which is fair to the player and team.

Media love this narrative like somehow Zach is some sort of mercenary where money is all that matters. He knows what it’s like to be cast off like damaged goods and already weighed his health vs his career. On top of that he’s got a young family to take care of, so bolting for a few more dollars at the risk of getting killed Reilly-style makes no sense. Throughout his time in Winnipeg all he’s talked about is his love for the game, his teammates and how good the organization is. The business side will take care of itself.

Harris is better then a Dilfer, a comp to Dilfer would be a guy like Fajardo. Harris can thrive if he isn't relied upon to carry a team on his back. Clearly Zach would be a far better option but if we had to Harris would work.

Unless Collaros is already suffering from brain damage, he and his wife have to know that a couple-few big hits on him and he will likely suffer permanent, career-ending damage. He is far, far better off re-signing with the Blue where his career will be longer and at the end of it, he will still be able to recognize his wife and kids.
