  1. I can’t see Lawler and Schoen ever leaving now. The one year deal with Schoen was to try and sign them both together next year. Schoen gets a slight bump, Lawler takes a haircut and it all works out the same

  2. Me and my girl friend went to go pick up our season tickets today, really fun event at the stadium, I bit the bullet and bought a chris streveler jersey. It was the first jersey I purchased since I got a Charles Robert’s one for Christmas when I was 10 years old lol! I was torn on who to get, but I figured no matter what Streveler’s cult hero status as a Bomber will never fade so it was a safe bet.

  3. Its about getting more people in seats to come see the music act, and hoping a percentage of them will enjoy the football and game enough to come back for more. You complain about the CFL and TSN not doing enough to attract new fans and grow the game. Here is BC trying something to grow their fan base and bring in people who wouldn't normally come to a football game, but that apparently is also problematic. 🤷

  4. Lil shocked as well....but also means I think Garbutt is in drivers set for the other end with WJ and Haba...whih I like a lot, and will get more playtime Friday

  5. I was whelmed but I’m sure there’s something they’re seeing in practice. I liked Rivers as a signing to begin with, so if he’s coming on strong that’s great

  6. Good little synopsis on where we're at through two weeks... Thanks, as always, to Our Man Tait....

  7. More than any thing I think they look at the less tangibles. FIFO, coachability, toughness, prep and off field work ethic. The stuff you don’t get as much of from scouts and conversations with coaches. That and how quick they pick things up.

  8. Obviously based on more than just the games. Obviously rivers is more impressive in these practices nobody on here attends.

  9. Not shocked....He showed...again in that pre-season game he can run around....but if needed to move a offence up and down a field...he just doesnt have it

  11. Hamilton's dline looks great on paper, but seriously underachieved last season. Sometimes there is a fine line between a healthy rotation and guys just not able to get into the groove because they are not getting enough reps. It's a balancing act.

  16. I really like what Walters and the team are doing with their DL so far, they’re really committed on getting a better, deeper unit this season.

  17. No surprise, which ever rookie comes out on top, likely to be parked on the PR behind Haba and Garbutt.

both divisions are wide open this year, imo. Especially the east.

  23. My brother was at practice yesterday and said they had a few formations with Collaros and Streveler on the field. Sweeps/PA/ reverses. I'm really pumped for week 1!

  24. Perhaps with receivers not getting 300k you can keep lawler Schoen and Demski longer. 250 prob max for a receiver like lawler and Schoen. That’s 500k. It’s not that much in the scheme of things. Perhaps we move on from Zach sooner than later. (It’s gonna happen eventually) and there’s more savings. Bryant. Jefferson. Bighill. Lots of cash freed up sooner than later. I’ll just say I understand they all need to be Replaced also but the guys replacing them prob don’t make what Zach and crew make now. So instead of QB making 600k , he gets 300 to 450 instead. Hello savings my old friend

  26. Both Lawler & Schoen's days as NFL players are over. We're not just a ground & pound team. We throw the ball. A lot. Sometimes maybe too much as Zach likes the deep ball. But to say we're a one dimensional ball team with just Oliveira grounding it out on the ground is wrong. This team reminds me of the Bombers of the mid to late 80's when we won 2 GC's & should have won more. We had Tom Clements at qb. We had Willard Reaves running for 1300-1800 yards a season. We also had Joe Pop, Rick House, Perry Tuttle, James Murphy & jeff Boyd catching the ball. No one called us a ground & pound team with Reaves ground game crushing opponents, The Bombers then, just like today, can kill a team on the ground or in the air. We're a nightmare for opposition DC's to prepare for.

  28. I’ve never started one or a GTD, fresh karma. Not a lot of hot takes but here we go.. West Bombers 12-6 BC 11-7 Sask 10-8 Edmonton 8-10 Calgary 4-14 East Hamilton 12-6 Montreal 11-7 Toronto 9-9 Ottawa 4-14 Bombers still top dogs. I expect the games to look pretty similar to last year. We all hate Sask but they’re unfortunately never as bad as we think. They and BC could be interchangeable at 2/3. Edmonton improves but Jones will do enough dumb things to keep them out of the playoffs again. Calgary will be close to folding after the season. They’re screwed big time imo. They’ll be lucky to win 4 games. Hamilton starts slow but finishes strong and wins the east. Toronto plays good D but not enough for a playoff victory. Montreal more of the same, without the luck of teams shitting themselves against them. Ottawa ruins Dru Brown and they play musical QBs all year again. WSF BC over Sask WF Bombers over BC again ESF Montreal over Toronto EF Hamilton over Montreal GC- I’m not jinxing that

  29. I'm hoping this is the year we bring in a real difference maker rookie to our DL. Don't care if it is inside or out.

  30. yeah...inside and out that dude can play....possibly whattheyhoped with D]Abreau and what I think they envisioned for him....but must like Adams more....I know I do...and I like D'Abreau....so this is win win

  36. No surprise there either. Wasn't a particularly good RB.

  37. That contract length is too long for it to work. Player would need guarenteed money, club would be foolish to guarentee money for that length of time.
    2 points
  38. A player would never sign that unless you guaranteed money each season.
    2 points
  39. I think you see both Lawler and Schoen come back at $250,000 each for next season because I think that receiver contracts are going to drop and the club is going to go all in a year we are hosting the cup.

  40. It's hard to call what the CFL offers "streaming." It's more like "watch on potato quality video through a browser."

  41. Lawler is taking a pay cut even if he puts up 2000 yards this year that window for 300k receivers is closed
    2 points
  42. Last year we had the most trouble protecting Collaros, and under thrown deep balls are a classic sign of the pocket being pushed back onto the qb. When you throw deep against a straight pressure or are hit when throwing the ball tends to sail. That’s why we saw soo many pics going back to the early mafia days we had soo many dominant import pocket pushing nose tackles.

  43. The way the Argonauts organization treated the whole Kelly situation is derserving karma. I hope that team rots into the ground this year.

  44. Didn’t lawler put up like 1000 yards in half the games? Playing half the games as the next guy. That’s pretty good.

  45. I think Lawler is going to have a monster year if he and Zach stay healthy....

  46. Somebody on the Riders forum suggested extending exhibition games to 5 or 6 Q's, I think this would be a reasonable way to give new players extra playing time without adding travel costs or much extra expense. Add another intermission after 60 minutes and play again for an extra 30 minutes. No single player needs to play more than 30 mins. so it should be manageable from a personnel perspective. As for the fans in attendance as long as they realize it's a casual affair they can come and go as they wish.
