How to beat Calgary Saturday

Lankford was such a tiny factor in why we lost last week.....  way more players that **** the bed then what he did.

Its more the fact that he slotted in as the primary target...  this really could explain why it seemed like Nichols was 'lost' in his check downs...

If Lankford is not quite getting open or drawing coverage and Lapo is still calling a game based on Dressler kind of guy...  explains a lot.

1.  Keep Lankford off the field except only to use him in the Dressler end around play.  That's his only use.

2.  Take the headset away from Richie Hall and don't allow him to call any more of those garbage defensive formations.

Maybe just leave Richie Hall at home! Give him the Saturday off! Calgary on a Saturday is just too busy etc.

The best you hope for with lankford I think is that he doesn't **** up... but he ****** up last week dropping a td pass. Just not reliable enough to be a big factor.

Should O'Shea choose to start Lankford on Saturday, O'Shea's credibility will take a giant hit that he may never recover from.

******* Dramatic. Likely Lapos decision tho. Stop being so dramatic. He will never eeeeever be the same... Again. - Chris Jericho

sit Lankford insert Flanders and run a two back backfield. Throw long to Adams a few times and eliminate as much as possible those 3-5 yard passes. Stretch the defense both vertically and across the field.

Then let Fogg return punts take him out of the backfield and add tons of pressure. Don't be afraid to blitz and do it often.

Finally someone shake the head of MOS.....don't be so darn stubborn and call a spade a spade!

Will that result in a win.....I doubt it but it will be a  start

On defense they have to get pressure with just rushing 4, or even better with rushing 3, and then drop everyone and play tight on each receiver. If they are successful wit that, then bring the odd blitz or delayed blitz to mix things up. Blitzing consistently without getting pressure just rushing 4 will not work. Don't play Fogg at DB. Put anyone else in there Cooper, Leggett, or even Fenner.

On offence use play action as much as possible and spread the ball around more. Go vertical to someone other than Adams, and go vertical more than just twice a game. Send ALL the receivers 15 yards downfield instead of just 3 yards for a change. Get Thompkins involved early. When running, use lots of misdirection with Harris and Demski. Build a game plan that does not depend so much on the run and dink'n Dunk passes because because you know Calgary is going to take that away first. If all else fails, run the QB. If Nichols is not moving the ball, then they need to give Streveler a shot before half time and/or before the game is out of reach.

All of this is theoretical because given the mantra coming from coaches and players this week I highly doubt they will do anything different from the preparation they had for Ottawa, or anyone else. Not only is it highly unlikely that they will win, it is quite likely they will be thoroughly embarrassed. Unfortunately, compared to Calgary, Bombers are just not a very good team in terms of either personnel or coaching.
