Lions @ Bombers Post Game Discussion

So, in the twitter universe everyone is saying the Lions got screwed & that the ball was out. My response to that is **** the twitter universe. I think the whistle blew before the ball did come out. But the Bombers have been screwed over so many times by the officials that cost us games in the past even if it was a fumble, I don't care as it was about bloody time a call went our way.

I sit in that endzone. 1. His momentum was halted before the ball game out. 2. The whistle blew ending the play before the ball was out. 3. Those who feel the wrong call was made can **

I think the reason the whistle blew early was because the BC players were holding Harris up while they tried to strip the ball.

Imo the ref blew the whistle earlier than he should have, but the fact of the matter is that the whistle blew before Harris fumbled. Bombers ball

In that melee it was hard to tell exactly when Harris actually touched the turf...I believe he was down and the whistle blew ending the play..The ball did come out but the play was whistled dead before the ball came out....Matters not anyway as the command centre ruled it was a dead play and not a fumble..How many have we seen go the other way and cost us bigtime...Great win.

I immediately thought they had blown the whistle before any possibility of there being a chance that it was a fumble.

The call could have gone either way but I don't think there was a definitive view that showed it was a fumble and because it was called "down by contact. It would have had to be very definitive to overturn the call.

But I think the true issue here is how Harris handled the ball.   At that time of the game I believe he was only thinking of himself and the yards vs. getting both hands on the ball and protecting it.  We didn't really need the 1st down.    But the worst thing that could have happened would have been a turnover.

The play was dead. It was bad call....not bc there was a fumble, but because the refs blew the whistle early. There was no fumble because the whistle was blown before the ball was stripped.

I believe it was a fumble and that we were really lucky that it wasn't called that way.

I think that Arceneux caught the ball, got 1 foot down, but didn't survive contact with the ground so that one shouldn't have been a catch.

IMO, there were also 2 offsides that weren't called. One of them, would have given BC a first down to keep their drive alive.

All in all, one of the worst reffed games of the season. At least we won.

Hmmmm.

Lets just congrats.

Was the whistle early? Maybe. But I thought his forward momentum was stopped. Qbs on keepers get a bit of leeway but ball carriers generally do not. Whistle blew, play was dead no fumble. I also saw a pic on fb where he seemed to be down by contact with the ball in his arm.

Bombers got fortunate with that fumble call no question.  A lot of bad or missed calls that game.  Dumb question: on that roughing the passer call on Westerman, wasn't he essentially tripped into Jennings? Didn't look like it was his fault, unless they felt he deliberately extended his roll into Jennings.

Horribly refereed game. I'm not sure who got ripped off more. But BC at the end definitely had the most prominent screw jobbing.

idk about that we took 155 yards in penalties which is beyond crazy. I dont think ive seen that kind of number with out ejections and bruha going down.

taking like 5 PIs will do that

the leos took em too though we combines for like 230 yards of penalties. Which is just gross.

We took that many last week too without any ejections.

So what if it was a fumble and bc recovered, we're they guaranteed to score?no.

I really do think Harris fumbled, but that is all irrelevant because the whistle blew BEFORE that. So honestly, I don't care.

There was a play earlier on in the second half when the referees also blew the whistle really early in a play, when I thought Harris was still moving forward a bit.

These types of plays happen, and they're judgement calls by the official. Whistle blows, play is over. BC definitely missed out on a turnover due to the quick whistle, but such is life. The judgement call was made, what happened after didn't matter.

Also I don't want to hear any stuff about how BC got ripped off. These refs were atrocious all game for both sides. BC got handed soft PI call after soft PI call, and got at least an additional 7 points off those calls. Yet when Dressler has a DB on his back before the ball is there, there was no call.

If the refs don't give them the PI calls they likely weren't within one score for their last drive. You can make the "could have, should have" argument to say either team was screwed by the refs.
