  1. That is an incredibly crass comment and like so many tropes, not at all accurate. Be better.

  2. Dude, you sure here? What’s the ghetto got to do with it. There’s lazy people living on every block in every little town village and city. Don’t think this is a ghetto thing.

  4. Yeah Charles Robert's is the poster child for God given talent. So good with so little effort put in.

  5. Barker had some really interesting comments on that show. Alluded to teams using "promo" money to circumvent the cap. Not sure how or what this means? Stated that he thinks Strev is a big upgrade over Brown. Stated he thought Yoshi wasn't all that great last year and not as big a loss to the Bombers as what many think. Just some real gold in that interview from a guy who knows this league inside and out. It's on YouTube if you Google rod pederson Jim Barker. If people have 20 mins I recommend it.

  6. We signed the top receiver...RB ..and QB1b Also retained one best defensive guys who makes an impact...and a still top of the pile OT..and a top Guard...how would we not be winners...and all in team friendly deals

  7. Charles Roberts is a real classic case of never meet your heroes.

  8. IDK, I'm still holding a grudge against him from when he called the city of Winnipeg a shithole.

  9. Blink was either 1st or second in rushing every year from 02-07 and all on natural talent. If he'd worked at it, I believe he'd be the CFL's all time leading rusher.

  10. Lawler will be on the wrong side of 30 and coming off a deal that was signed in a time prior to teams becoming more accepting of the belief that paying receivers that much money doesn’t make you succeed. Doesn’t matter how well he plays this year. He hit the max he’s ever gonna make

  11. 2 days ago Jim Barker stated on the Rod Pederson show that the Bombers were this year's big winner in FA. I actually really value Barkers opinion, guy knows his stuff.

  12. .....Trading him to the leo's, where he finished up with a torn achilles, was not the way I would've like to have seen Charlie go out....I think his heart left the game after he left Wpg. and it was just a matter of time until the inevitable....the injury just moved it along a little faster....I rank him along with Leo Lewis as the best this club has ever seen, and even with his smoking and offfield antics, that doesn't change for this fan

  13. You can sense the market reset coming on receivers. I’m thinking they’ll be able to keep Kenny and Schoen in 2025 for less than they’re making right now.

  14. For sure it was. Especially considering he did it twice. Doesn’t change the respect I have for his natural talent though.

  15. Both will be back next yr...u can take that the bank League figured out what Weineke was and once that happened...well u see the results...he not fast...can't create separation with solid moves and route running...so he's pretty limited in how he can be used...plus some of his big TD catches when he was TD Jake likely 5 times out of 10 he makes them...and that being generous I think we see a shift from a role Bailey played to a dynamic receiver...speed and spread a defence ability...that's my assumption

  16. We don’t need to hit on a low risk high reward guy like him so yeah. Developing the next guy is more important. No matter who our 3rd imp wr is we have an elite wr core.

  17. Yup...the last 2 cups will irritate me till I die...we threw 2 away which we totally could have locked down. Gut instinct this off-season is a lesson learned was realized..finally...now hopefully all the lessons were absorbed fully

  18. That's a good re-signing.

  19. It shows you, at least to me, how addictions and battling one's own personal demons can't always be held in check, even for an important moment coming up. We all have them, some more impactful than others and some more difficult for others to keep in check.

  20. He was a division or league All-Star every single season he played for the Bombers. Incredible to think what he could have accomplished if he dedicated himself to lifestyle more consistently as opposed to just relying on talent 😳

  21. Ford is also coming North and will hopefully factor in right away, and we have an extra 2nd round pick in our back pocket... things are going well for sure

  22. I don’t really agree. Lawler is not going to make the same dollar amount he’s making again on his next deal. 285k + 230k could lock them both up at 250k each and you’ve saved money and it’s still going to be the high end of what the value is looking like i really think they’ll get them both for 235-240k each next offseason. That’s big savings. why not just give Dalton that money now? Because there’s genuinely a good chance the market tanks even lower on receivers. It’s trending that way.

  23. Natural talent means nothing if you can't be disciplined enough to get ready to play. Or to be a team leader & lead by example. I mean. Dinwiddie was a **** qb anyway. We really had no chance with him playing. But that's what you get when you sign crappy qbs behind the starter. I expected the Bombers to lose in 2009 but not 2001.

  24. I mean going out and getting **** faced the night before a Grey Cup game where we had a guy making his first start ever at QB was frustrating.

  25. Agreed. I’ve smoked cigs and joints with Charlie Roberts. The way he played, with that lifestyle earns a completely different level of respect for me than anything else I’ve seen watching pro sports of any kind.

  26. I'd go for whom I've seen for best Bombers DBs as Hill..BOlden..Brown...Roy Bennet and James Jefferson...bar none..nobody since be even close...I would almost put Bolden first if he had a series of yrs together...dude had no business being up here and we were so lucky to have him a few times

  27. We should be in the process of trying to find our next Lawler/Schoen so that letting one walk in the offseason won't be as painful. Weineke isn't that guy.

  28. Really. Were Roberts and Sellers not on the team at the same time? Pretty sure in 2002 2003 they were. And they were called Thunder and Lightning.

  30. Yeah no kidding ..he never came from that background and when he got back to Cali he did a few things...postman.. but for the last three, four years works in the communication department at a branch of the School of medicine at UCLA.... So very far from a ghetto rat by any means.....shameful comment

  31. Yeah I remember that comment by the 'hamburgler'....He picked that name up when he was a 100 pounds over weight and stuffing down 'rotten ronnie's' big burgers...He does seem like a changed man though

  32. Thanks. I am not phone savvy enuff to do it. Lawler will need an 18 game season to cash in again.

  34. Somewhat of a conundrum. It's a passing league but most fall/playoff games are won on the ground.

  35. ...yeah and I believe he started his comments with the Streve signing....and he's right

  36. Yea..I think Zac and June didn't really mesh well.

  37. But maybe he could produce quite well in Winnipeg - with Schoen, Lawler, Demski and Oliviera needing to be accounted for. He knows the CFL game and could be adept at finding openings created by the superstar talent.

  39. Now you're back pedalling. 1. One, you do consider Alford the best or you wouldn't have said "in league history". 2. How can you say a corner like Hill wasn't physical? He was a shut down corner playing against guys like Mervyn Fernandez, david Williams, Darrell K. Smith, Allen Pitts, earl Winfield, Tony Champion & Geroy Simon. He didn't do that by playing powder puff football. He battled with them downfield. The guy could lay a hit on a receiver if he had to & also play finesse as well. 3. The numbers for Hill's interception numbers are even more eye popping considering teams were afraid to throw to his side of the field so he was a guy who was resourceful when the ball came his way. He only had Less Browne on the other corner for 2 seasons. 4. Interceptions, fumble recoveries, blocking punts & field goals means Hill had a nose for the ball & turnovers win games so you should care. Hill was a game changer. 5. No one intercepted 47 passes in 92 games. That's an incredible stat. Even mentioning a player who was here one season would be on his ways to "perhaps" the best DB in history. Alford was a very good DB, I agree but lots of guys had seasons like him as rookies. My point here? Longevity has to count for something before annointing a player the greatest ever after just one season. Even saying "perhaps". And, please don't take this personally, this is just a discussion. I'm not going after you. You're entitled to your opinion.

  40. I’d add blink, he played behind some horrible ols and still put up great numbers. Plus was often our 2nd best wr behind milt. Bolden was insane. And he made it look soo easy.

  41. Agree. Excellent low risk high reward guy. Lucky too. If grant doesn’t come back I’d take a look at lucky cheap as a last wr and kr. He’s a down field possession wr. Similar to Kenny lawler. Relies on getting open by route running, pattern tree/play design. And with his hands / frame doesn’t need a ton of separation.

  42. Stats and crap are fun and nice...but the stat that is the indicator of who houses the elite talent...and team...51-17... And if we didnt pooch last two playoffs...be running back a chance for 5 I don't care about a lower level team who runs a couple mid tier receivers out there who had 1000 yards when they won 6 games...
