  1. We should d been up by more. Should been up by 21 or more.

  2. thing is...with our poor roster management we had to make 3 moves to cover 1 issue due to an injury, and thats what will happen...confusion and communication errors...It's not about BA not having it anymore...truthfully there is nothing wrong with his game....it's more how we deployed guys...Now if Clements was in Biggies role, and we had Rose on the roster...a smart savy vet...and one who all the DB's say is like a coach on the feild and makes them better as a group...well he steps into Parkers spot...and we aren't having this convo...BA is at safety....we have no communication issues with the corner and half and that play is broken up...picked off over the top or not even there for the taking...

  3. I don't think Bighill was throwing anyone under the bus. I think he was responding to the "OMFG teh Als coaches are big headed geniuses!" and defending his own coaches by saying basically "there was a break down, it happens, but we didn't lose to a team playing 4D chess".

  4. Bighill throwing other players under the bus is a bad look IMO.

  5. BC and Edmonton are on the rise. I wouldn't expect Calgary to stand pat either. The Bombers will not finish first without making changes.

  6. The only way Bighill should be back is if he's going to gain about 10 pounds and play nose at a 50% pay cut. Will be disappointed if we give up a great player or two in their prime to keep him around. Looks more like Alexander to me. Holm is playing corner there and jumps the outside breaking route. Alexander is at no depth to cover curls but also doesn't track the vertical. That's the drive when Alexander dropped down to half and Hallett came in at safety because Parker got bopped on the kickoff cover. The drive where we really could have used a backup DB.

  7. Holm will get a workout invite. He got 2 post UND without this cfl film. The better thing to question would be whether he actually gets signed. I also think they’ll have him at safety not corner. Brady, while I would love to see him get his bag in the nfl, is a dime a dozen down here and never had nfl interest. Hoping he gets a workout if he wants one, but he might be a cfl for lifer. Regardless, I’ll continue to rep his UND jersey wherever he plays. Just a ******* dog. It would also be interesting to see how he does behind a different O line situation. gotta add here: we have to pick up mason Bennett this season. Another great UND guy. dudes a stud. Rescue him from the slums of Hamilton.

  8. You want to point at how roster management can lose you a game, case in point. If Rose is on for Bighill, he takes Parker's spot, nobody moves around, no confusion, no touchdown.

  9. Augustine isn’t the answer if Brady goes. There’s literally hundreds of backs in the states that are faster, stronger and cheaper. We always start 8 or 9 Canadians anyway but… Starting just 7 is an option. Sliding Gray out to RT if Hardrick retires is an option. Going NI at safety is an option. (Hallet, Jake Kelly, draft/FA) All better than trying to find another Canadian RB. This team is built around an elite RB. Gotta have one or fundamentally change how the offence works.

  10. The flashes are because that's the type of back he is. Can bust some big plays but he won't grind out runs like Brady does. He's a nice change of pace type back... but that's not super useful to this offense to be honest.

  11. I saw this on the other site in a discussion on Brady potentially leaving to go to the NFL. The argument was make Augustine the starter. My take is Augustine is not a starter and Winnipeg should move on from him. Honestly if Brady leaves find a quality american. If you need a Canadian RB Anshwi out of Montreal or Adeboye out of Toronto interest me more.

  12. And nothing wrong with being a CFL lifer. Some have carved out nice careers over the years. The it happens for BO, he could see his name put up in the rafters.

  13. been wanting that Bennett for a while now, and can't see how he wont sign back home, and we can dispose of our Bennett

  15. Dissecting this cup loss doesn’t do much for me. It’s done. What does it for me is that we are Blue Bombers. Currently the most successful franchise of any of the CFL teams. Argos win a cup and they couldn’t fill a stadium. Most other teams would want to be where we are.
    3 points
  16. The Bombers can no longer afford to pick off league best players as they did with Jefferson and Bighill, they are now on the other side of the ledger desperately trying to retain their own free agents.

  17. In terms of players from other teams, I'd love to see Oakman DT in Blue and Gold.

  18. Everyone loves to point out how Wally always made the tough decisions and it made his teams better... but Wally decided not to pursue Bighill when he returned from the NFL and decided a 29 year old Andrew Harris was washed up... those two decisions alone are a big reason why we have our two most recent grey cups

  19. If Brady leaves there are a ton of good options for IMP RBs that would probably excel behind our OL. RB is the least of my worries. I love BO but his magical season was greatly enhance by the OL blocking for him, and I would think that there are a ton of FA RBs drooling at the prospect of coming to play behind our OL. Calgary has 3 really good RBs, for instance, can't keep them all.

  20. We have dropped Biggie into coverage in zone, but I can't ever recall a single instance we asked our MLB to cover man against a receiver. It's never done because it is a massive mismatch. I'm not sticking up for Biggie, he looks like he needs to join the coaching staff now. Just saying that if a DC is putting his MIKE....and I don't care who that MIKE is or how old...into a man coverage responsibility it is going to be very bad for that defence. Completely unrealistic to expect a MLB to cover a receiver in man.

  21. My biggest concern in all of this is the finger pointing. Not a great sign heading into the offseason....

  22. I wouldn't be surprised if Holm gets some NFL looks, by the end of the season he was the most consistent DB and playing better than Nichols.

  23. I've decided it's time to move on from Hall. I feel he has proven his defences aren't built to close out close games when it matters. Grey Cup 2023. 2022. To a lesser extent 2021. Ottawa. Labour Day. Even the last game against BC where a missed Kramdi tackle somehow allowed us to get to OT. When the chips are down and the other team needs a field goal, they often seem to get into range easily, and often further. Maybe it's just me. Or maybe we just need more playmakers. But there is a pattern here.

  24. Okay. But let’s not ignore the fact that he is beyond finished. I don’t care about the cap. He’s bad.

  25. Competition doesn't only take place in the games broadcast on TSN.
    3 points
  26. That’s kind of the point. He is never allowed to touch the ball. He gets a few token Carrie’s at the end of blowouts. Even last year, when Brady struggled for half the season, JA got next to no carries. The coaching staff clearly has no faith in him as an offensive piece.
    3 points
  27. Oh, I'd be shocked if he wasn't either. @wbbfan states it really well. For Augustine, I think he's been here five years and has never emerged as a starting RB and don't think it happens next year in his age 31 season. He and Brady competed for the job and they split the job the first 6 games or so last year and he didn't emerge.

  28. Then more Holm to safety, plus I wanna get away from the any starting linebackers being Canadian unless his name is Judge

  29. BLUE NOTES: Bighill and Schoen say it was right decision for them to play in Grey Cup ... Bighill says he was 'covering up' on Als' touchdown ... Brown ready to be starting QB (msn.com)

  30. I think there's a chance this team could look a lot different next year, and not for the better......

  31. Didn't Bighill leave the CFL for New Orleans, and then instead of going back to BC, he came to Wpg instead? Right before Training Camp...

  32. DB made a great play on a slightly underthrown ball. Should have been thrown to Demksi IMO.
    3 points
  33. I agree. Holms will be weighed on his play measurables though. His speed and ability to cut are probably NFL calibre. I could see him getting a shot down there. Totally agree. Of course, I really want BO back, but if not there are some intriguing options out there such as Mills. Mills at much cheaper probably lets us keep Schoen as well so to me it is not the end of the world if Oliveira leaves.

    The Tech Thread

Don't know if anyone has been following the drama happening at OpenAI this past week (creators of ChatGPT). At a high level: The board of ChatGPT fired CEO Sam Altman as a big surprise to everyone Microsoft (which owns 49% of OpenAI) offered to hire him and give him his own department for AI to run 70 - 80% of OpenAI employees wrote an open letter to the board saying they would quit and go work for Microsoft if they didn't re-instate Sam Altman and resign from the board Some board member who voted to out Altman pretty quickly changed their mind It looks like Sam Altman will soon be returning to OpenAI with a new board. What's interesting (aside from all of the above shenanigans) is this quote So rumour is the board thought Altman was moving too fast and reckless with AI, was not forthcoming / honest with the board in what he was doing, etc. Will be really interesting to see where AI goes and what future iterations of ChatGPT are capable of over the upcoming years.

  36. Different take. I don’t think Bighill said anything that bad. The Bombers tow the line so well that when somebody’s forthcoming about anything to the media it seems like a big deal. The guy was frustrated with everyone (correctly) saying he shouldn’t have been in the game, so he told everyone what happened on the particular play. The whole issue is on MOS.
    2 points
  37. Yeah, he’s getting slagged for that one play. Didn’t point a finger at anyone, but pointed out the ridiculous notion that he’d be the primary cover guy on a slot back. He still shouldn’t have been playing though. If the game plan was that he couldn’t play every snap, then he’s a waste of a roster spot.
    2 points
  38. I don't see it as finger pointing so much as a guy desperately trying to justify playing in the game

  40. I appreciate all that Bighill has done for us but he's 35, will be 36 next year, appears to be declining, thus I feel like its time to move on. That said, I predict we keep him.
    2 points
  41. Not a chance. Running backs aren’t big earners. The funny thing is we’ve asked Bighill to do this a ton. And he used to be able to. He’s the first one I want to see go. Can’t stand him anymore.
    2 points
  42. He got good chunks at times, as much as Brady got imo. He’s a good change of pace back or a good guy to use in a 2 back package. I can’t see us spending 250k+ between 2 backs, or making that work while keeping dalton/brown/improving in free agency.
    2 points
  43. 1, Augustine is the wrong kind of back. He isn’t that get 5 most every touch grind it out back. He’s boom or bust. 2, He isnt good enough blocking or catching to be an every down back in the cfl. 3, We would need another ni to be his back up which puts us in a bad spot if Brady comes back. We’ve been starting extra nis and wasting dis half the year. If we lost Brady we’d just flip rb to an imp spot and keep Augustine to back up the imp. Lots of good imps floating around that would murder defences behind our line. Finally, Brady is not getting an nfl. Look. Keep in mind Marshawn Lynch ran a 4.4 40. Brady’s 40 is waaay too slow by nfl standards. He ran soo much inside zone stuff with few consistent wrinkles for him in carrying the ball. He doesn’t have tackle breaking power vs nfl sized front 7s. He’s gonna be 27 next year and has carried the ball 460+ times the last two years with 80 catches. Schoen didn’t even get a look last year. Rb is the deepest youngest position in the nfl. They aren’t going looking for guys like Brady with the amount of Carries he has.

  44. metaphor noun met·a·phor an expression, often found in literature, that describes a person or object by referring to something that is considered to have similar characteristics to that person or object: "The mind is an ocean" and "the city is a jungle" are both metaphors. __________________________________________________________ On a different note, I have no idea if they are planning on re-signing Walters, but I would hope after Sunday that Miller realizes that O'Shea really does need someone to protect him from himself. I don't know if Walters would be the best guy for that job, but it's obviously needed.
    2 points
  45. No, but O'Shea can still beat up anyone that chooses to disagree with him. "Darren, can you please shut off the camera and lock all the doors, it's donnybrook time."

  46. I'd be absolutely stunned if Brady left. Can see him making 250k or more next year with us.

  47. Two under-the-radar players they must retain are Walker and Lawson, too much invested in their progress and no obvious replacements for their skill level currently on the roster to let them walk away.
