  1. Doubling ticket sales is always good.

  2. There is your Lawler money and we havent even mentioned our big defensive free agent splash Jonathan Jones! Man Walters really had an offseason bedshitting for the ages. Likely could have kept Dobson and Lawler if Mitchell, Logan, and Jones were all not signed. None of those guys made one lick of a difference. Gotta figure Lawler and Dobson would have.

  3. O'Shea's signing would cause a real surge in season ticket sales for the Argos. Maybe a hundred

  7. Berger is a former radio reporter who covered the Argos as sideline reporter about 30 years ago, and spent most of his career on the Leafs beat. He now works -- I'm not kidding -- at a funeral service, and often makes seemingly-in the-know predictions on social media. His track record for accuracy is not stellar. He's kind of Marty York Lite -- no longer working in the media but still wanting to seem connected.

  8. Because Kyle walters didn't dress 3 injured receivers in a Grey cup game... walters gave oshea a backup NI who could play and signed cfl vets for the pr... Kyle walters didn't put collaros out Ina grey cup game when he couldn't even grip a ball.... these are oshea roster issues that are independent of the gm. It's stuff like that which has garnered the target on O'Shea's back.

  9. Controlling for MOS heading east or not, who we re-sign, cut outright, re-do contracts, invite to camp etc if management/coaching staff point to a 10-8 2025 record reference five straight Grey Cup appearances prior to that so business as usual approach with minor tweaks approach to 2026 we be in trouble. One doesn't have to be football expert to know that. The first order of business to help send messages in how 2026 is going to be approached is let our OC go, offer a few players the option to retire/help them seek other employment and if offers are not taken release them outright. I would love to be a fly on the wall for upcoming discussions between management/coaches/scouting department and how they plan to approach 2026.

  11. As far as re=signing Hardrick, well I still don't think it was the wrong decision to let him walk. Randolph is doing well in his place. We don't miss Hardrick other than his leadership.

  14. Yes I agree that Oshea's roster management is his worst quality so let's promote him to the job of managing the roster in the offseason too.

  15. Per 3downnation, these are our free agents ... basically everyone but Zach, Vaval, Peterson, Clercius, Randolph, Wallace, Pokey Wilson, MCI, Allen, T. Jones, and Leroux the longsnapper. Quarterback Chris Streveler (A) Running back Brady Oliveira (N) Receiver Kody Case (A) Nic Demski (N) Dillon Mitchell (A) Dalton Schoen (A) Jerreth Sterns (A) Keric Wheatfall (A) OL Stanley Bryant (A) Tui Eli (N) Chris Kolankowski (N) Eric Lofton (A) Patrick Neufeld (N) Defensive line Willie Jefferson (A) Cameron Lawson (N) Tanner Schmekel (N) Jake Thomas (N) James Vaughters (A) Jamal Woods (A) Linebacker Tanner Cadwallader (N) Shayne Gauthier (N) Kyrie Wilson (A) Defensive back Terrell Bonds (A) Michael Griffin II (A) Nick Hallett (N) Evan Holm (A) Demerio Houston (A) Redha Kramdi (N) Enock Makonzo (N) Deatrick Nichols (A) Jamal Parker (A) Specialist Sergio Castillo (A) Jamieson Sheahan (G)

  17. Who the Christ is Howard Berger? And I'm betting the only difference between Bombers offer and anyone else is autonomy... Which may also be no difference, but IF there's a difference it'll be that. Maybe Wade said "changes..." And everyone else says "do what you want".... That would be the only thing.

  21. I refer you to this article... https://3downnation.com/2025/02/13/blue-bombers-gm-kyle-walters-winnipeg-priced-out-on-free-agent-losses-lawler-dobson-ford/ I think they could have used him this year only because the Cup is here. They should have broke the bank for a game changer like him. Any other year I would agree with letting him go.

  22. I wouldn't bring him back for half that to start. I'd only bring him back on a cheap deal with some incentives if he is the fake canadian on the roster and we rotate him heavily at end. Neuf hasn't been the same for a couple of years now. But none of our guards, since Desjarlais, have lived up to much of anything. If you get rid of Kola, I think you can bring back the rest of the ol, to compete with the young guys and bringing in 1 FA, then see how goodthe guys are when they aren't playing next to the worst linemen the league has seen in at least 10 years. This includes DL being forced into action on the OL. I would love to see a Bryant get a shot at G, Neuf at C, maybe lofton at G, and Vanterpool at T. If vanterpool doesn't crack it at T, he should be penned in at G next year. Once you subtract kola, a lot of guys will likely look a lot better. Sadly that is the state of the league these days. The good news is that NI crop, plus a depth FA or two, and a good draft will be very nice. I think you nailed it here. I would add Lofton back at vet min wouldn't be bad for camp. Shouldn't be at the expense of adding a high end ol this off season though. Glad some one recognized how important Cadwallader is on teams here, not just kick cover either, he is a teams stud on each unit. Does soo much more than just run and tackle. I like Gauthier, but Idk if he has another year in him at a high enough leve. It didn't seem like he had it this year either tbh. And we have a glut both at Lber and with NI lbers.

  23. just for fun... bolded my hopeful returnees... some have some caveats attached... others are obvious Quarterback Chris Streveler (A) Running back Brady Oliveira (N) Receiver Kody Case (A) Nic Demski (N) Dillon Mitchell (A) Dalton Schoen (A) Jerreth Sterns (A) Keric Wheatfall (A) - can't get rid of everyone but he should be fighting for a job OL Stanley Bryant (A) - at the right price and if he's still up for it Tui Eli (N) Chris Kolankowski (N) Eric Lofton (A) Patrick Neufeld (N) - shouldn't be handed a job, would make a nice 6th man Defensive line Willie Jefferson (A) - should have more DEs on the roster leading to reduced snaps (and reduced money) Cameron Lawson (N) Tanner Schmekel (N) Jake Thomas (N) James Vaughters (A) - same as Jefferson Jamal Woods (A) Linebacker Tanner Cadwallader (N) - still need some ST specialists, he's one of the good ones Shayne Gauthier (N) Kyrie Wilson (A) Defensive back Terrell Bonds (A) - was his 2024 season an anomaly... or was he just hurt in 2025? Michael Griffin II (A) Nick Hallett (N) Evan Holm (A) Demerio Houston (A) Redha Kramdi (N) - maybe not at a superstar contract... but versatile, talented Canadians are always valuable. Enock Makonzo (N) - sat on IR all year... assuming he can play like some have said Deatrick Nichols (A) Jamal Parker (A) Specialist Sergio Castillo (A) Jamieson Sheahan (G) - I'm fine with him but I would bring in another Cdn or Glb punter for a real competition

  24. Randolph was addition by subtraction. He was better than Lofton but he still wasn't particularly good. To be honest, I don't think there's a single "untouchable" or cornerstone guy left on our offensive line. I'd say Big Stan (for his leadership more than anything) but I his days as a premier tackle are behind him.

  25. It definitely comes down to roster construction and paying year-over-year to keep the team together. Hopefully some hard decisions are made this off season and there is a bit of a soft reboot. There are definitely some players who are being paid above market value compared to the results they give on the field and there is a correction. Collaros shouldn't be the 3rd highest paid QB in the league. Willie J over 200k doesn't make a lot of sense. Demski being the 4th highest paid receiver in the league at 33 probably doesn't make a tonne of sense.

  26. Yeah I agree. It’s like we chose to blanket let guys go who hit free agency. And then I really don’t get why we haven’t committed to replacing any of the premium fa losses.

  27. What I was trying to say in my clumsy way was that if the Bombers wanted O'Shea to stay they would of re signed him already but by letting the Argos talk to him at this early stage they wouldn't mind if the Argos offered him a GM/HC role with money that the Bombers would not be inclined to give him.

  29. Miller made two hall of fame hires and that's really all he's had to do on the football operations side so far. He could bat .500 and we could still end up in a mess. It's hard to build a staff. It was hard for O'Shea who is a hall of fame player and now a hall of fame coach. Obviously WFC is much less of a **** show than it was, but different people will have different draw in terms of their ability to build out both personnel and coaching side. How does Miller know if he made the right hire/hire(s) or not? He was patient with Walters and O'Shea. Will he be patient enough with the next round with an organization that is used to winning? Will he be too patient in a bad situation relying on his past experience with two hall of famers? There's the appeal of novelty that something new will be better. The odds of that are extremely slim. Same as with the QB's. Yeah, **** it, throw some random QB out there and see what happens.

  30. Most of the posters here have been posting for 20 years. It’s safe to say virtually every person here knows exactly how bad things can be. Thing is, for several sweaty fans, being a team that continually chokes in the gc, is not significantly worse than a team that is young and just not good enough yet. This schism exists in all areas of sports, but it’s seldom talked about. Some people love to win, others hate to lose. That’s the major divide we’ve seen among bomber fans since we started gifting gc wins to teams starting mediocre back up qbs. We are basically at the very bottom of the roller coasters dive. we have the entire process left to get back to a respectable quality team. And we can’t even be sure that we will start that process this off season. If we bite the bullet and don’t wait to respond to other teams actions this off season, I think we can be a scrappy young team next year. If we stay a pile of the usual senior citizen suspects, hard to see us being more than crappy.

  31. I dont know about the mack era.... the saving grace is that its still very much Miller time (MT). So if we are going to end up in a AO era, it will still be MT. Mediocre maybe...but not Mack bad.

  33. The reality is that the Bomber team of 2025 was so pathetic that he would have made no difference at all.

  34. Fire means the Bombers owe him something. They'll just let his contract expire.

  35. MOS will be the HC of the Argos or the Bombers. There is exactly zero chance the Bombers "fire" him.
    1 point
  36. I think that you've got it wrong. In most pro sports organizations, the GM hires and fires the HC not the other way around. And most GMs have at least "two kicks at the can" (i.e., They get to hire two HCs before their neck is on the line.) IMO, it'll be O'Shea who will be gone, whether he's hired by the Argos or fired by Walters. Of course, Miller (with input for the BOD?) could fire both of them.

  38. Nope, my name's not Booch. It was discussed on Winnipeg Sports Talk by Andrew Paterson a couple weeks ago or so. He qualified it as something that he never heard directly from anyone in the organization but was making it's rounds amongst the media. Apparently he showed up to camp out of shape, and then wasn't happy about his playing time and let everyone know about it. Don't have a date or a time, but it's on one of their podcasts if you care to dig deeper.

  39. This is silly. It wasn't an either/or choice. Schoen signed for like half of what Lawler got.

  40. RIders chose to make Hardrick [one of?] the most highly paid Offensive Lineman in the league, at age 34, coming off just his second All-Star season. The Tiger-cats chose to make Lawler the highest paid receiver in the league, despite 3 consecutive seasons he played 2/3rds of the games and only having one 1000 yard seasons to his name If we want to keep going on 'players who wanted to stay here'... the Elks made Tyrell Ford the highest paid cornerback in the league (and its not even close). Liam Dobson is making over 200k in Hamilton. Drew Desjarlais is making over 200k in Ottawa The downside of being successful for such a stretch is that these players are going to go out and they are going to get paid. The Bombers have made some... questionable decisions roster construction wise but it is literally impossible to pay everyone what they are going to be worth.

  45. Eleven years is a lifetime in the CFL. Other than Cal Murphy I don't know anyone, even Bud Grant, who hung around that long with the Bombers and who had so much success. But it's clear that it's time to move on for Mike. We all knew this day was coming. Now, will we pull a major boner and replace O'Shea with a Reinebold kind of fool like we did with old Cal in 1997, and wallow in sadness and mediocrity for two years, or will we find someone who can carry on the tradition of winning? I do like the FIFO mentally that O'Shea brought to the locker room. That's something I hope we can keep going. FIFO is very important. We lose that and we're back to the dark days of 2013 again very quickly.

  47. I was looking at the 2021 CFL all stars. The Bombers dominated the west with 15 (4 this year for comparison) and the thing that is really crazy is we had 6 out of the 9 available spots on the O-Line and D-Line, and not a single player this year in either of those positions btw, it all starts with the complete overhaul in the trenches, to me there’s not a single starter that should feel 100 percent safe on both sides of the line except in my opinion Cam Lawson.
