  1. Yeah, a lot of getting past the sophmore struggles is about mental toughness and desire. Evans never had that, or got it. Dru brown made his bones that way, I think thats a big reason why he should have the best year of the 3 if healthy. I didn't think he played that great, I thought we played and executed that poorly. He was in the perfect situation. If we did every thing the same, I think they would've beaten us with just about any qb with starting experience. Truth. Also a stronger OL. If we had the argos level of coaching/execution, we would've won in a blow out with our roster though.

  2. For my generation, Ed is the Gold Standard of CFL beat writers and a wildly underrated contributor to the CJOB Pre Game Show. Randy Turner is the all time best print columnist. With respect to everyone out there doing the job right now, it all pales to the level of writing we were spoiled with in the late 90s and early 00s...

  3. To be fair, I'm taking Alexander in Fantasy this week solely based on who he is playing.

  6. Got my ferry tickets (we live on VI) and game tickets (section 216 row C)! Excited. Want to erase the bad taste from B.C. stadium (from the Grey Cup — if it’s possible the experience was made worse by obnoxious Argo fans behind me)

  7. Why couldn't this ******* floor drop out sayyyyyyyyyyyy in last years Grey Cup?!?!?

  8. I kinda love the juxtaposition of Rourke being a really good QB (CFL needs good young QBs right now)... but also getting his ass kicked by the Bombers every time they play.

  9. Thornley is one of the best guitar players out there. Absolute must watch concert. I might make the trip down south.

  10. Seeing Jake on an island by himself being stood straight up & pushd back while he fought on his tippy toes was maybe the worst thing I ever saw as a football fan. That shoukld have told him it's time to retire but no... he coms back & Osh makes him a starter.

  13. yeah, being a good interview / conversation host is a whole skillset. you can't just plug in an athlete into that spot like you can plug an RB in at WR.

  16. Yeah....He had a perfect group of guys to catch league off-guard at first to toss up a lot of contested balls...and got lucky with that...and they let an awfull lot of OPI go on with his 2 big targets....But teams figured him out...and he faded....also his quick strike plays when not there, and he had to actually decipher a defense...well you seen the difference Our defense especially with multiple looks...and the same looks but it switches at snap...utterly confuses him Betts too...One big season and a lot of that was questionable "was he offside" crap...once he started to get called....and guys got hands on him...What he do? Not a helluva lot...except pout and show a piss poor attitude My gripe with a lot of the CFL Media and especially TSN is this over the top/unwarranted Canadian pushing with certain players....I get it's the CFL but enough already....Market and promote the actual top players who been doing it for yrs...regardless of where they were hatched. The average joe fan or a lot of the new fans they are wanting to pull in...and a lot of them are...and where a it's a huge market is within the immigrant community...they could give a rats ass...Most Canadians really could care less other than a small fraction...Whats it really matter...it's played in Canada...under unique Canadian rules by a lot of Americans who call Canada home yr round...promote that aspect Not to look at things thru blue glasses but it really is an injustice to BO that the powers that be in the CFL don't promote him more...What Canadian RB post the late 70's early 80's...Or player for that matter has won back to back MOC....A MOP and MOC season...gunning for 4 straight 1000 yard seasons...lead league multiple in a row...and actually grew up in Canada...played all his formative ball in Canada prior to College?....These the guys that should be getting the attention

  19. Arbuckle didn't beat winnipeg in the grey cup, the argos defense did full stop. Offense didn't put **** together all game and gift wrapped a pile of points for the argos.

  20. I wouldn't say excellent...i'll agree he had a few good moments and all they are is the occasionally straight ahead push but you could get that from any DT really...he has no moves...never had hand skills, and no burst or pursuit...so many times he has a push and kinda gets off his guy, but then has nothing left to finish a play...and has zero pursuit or lateral/backside pursuit ability, unless the tippy toeing he does way back of the play once it's wrapped up counts...so why not put a guy in who does that stuff?...As for this "glue" thing.....with all the vets we have on both sides of the ball we have more than enough glue...one less bottle of glue isn't gonna cause the team to swan dive If they feel this need to keep rostering him then maybe 6 to 10 snaps a game would morph his pointless reps into majority good ones...but again...we could do so much better

  21. we were out coached on a couple levels....every loss in the Grey Cup basically was out coached and out rostered People say "Yeah but this player and that player didnt have a good game" but many fail to realize that also comes down to coaching and preparedness...a poor scheme...plan can make a player look like he sucked....Guys cant just go rogue and do their own thing as that would compound it even more As great and key as our coaching has been...It's also failed us big time at the biggest game....3 yrs running in my world is a bit concerning too....hopefully this yr the light went on hmmm...is that a roster issue/decision?....😁 and the far too many times we used him at end...and may as well just fielded 11 guys as that was pointless and didnt help either

  24. The Bombers GC defensive game plan was to give Arbuckle all kinds time to hopefully confuse him and let him eff it up himself. Zero pressure and coverage seemed off even when the game was still within reach. Guy was coached perfectly to just take what was given… and the Bombers obliged.

  25. Coaching decisions lost us that game, especially putting an injured Zach Collaros in just to throw 2 pick sixes to put the game out of reach.

  26. Yeah we exposed and then ruined him...he was most mentally fragile player i have ever seen

  27. The CFL does not market itself at a league level. It doesn't care about its players. It never has. It expects teams to market themselves. Some, like the Bombers do very well. Others like Calgary & Toronto couldn't care less. They won't spend a penny marketing its players. Vernon Adams should be all over Calgary hyping the next game & season making appearances to sell tickets but nope.

  28. Good point that’s why the pbp plus color commentator is such an iconic combination across all sports. The ones who also converse well are the gold standard. like pti on Epsn is peak sports conversation. Tait is fantastic at writing articles that really get to the heart of a persons story. His piece on hardrick years back was incredible, parts of it are still vivid in my mind. It’s different still in conversation.

  29. You still need to have someone that actually knows how to talk and host a conversation. Have DT or someone else from OB act as the host of it, but THEN you can have your former players or whatever... But at least someone needs to be able to facilitate a conversation.

  30. Yeah that was bad...should be 2 former players doing it Good job for Walby and Duniggan Or let Biggie and BA do it

  31. I enjoyed that Handled Internally.... Most of those pods are solid. It's just them BSing over beers, which is what I want. Darren is very careful about what kind of info gets out there, but I like when the players are loose (the beer helps) and give us a bit of an inside view of the room.

  37. Jake was excellent last week vs BC. As for being a starter...that was due to injury. It's kind of what our defence did all year tho except our secondary play was superb. We rushed 3 for a good portion of the year last year and let QBs try throw against us. It was our bread and butter, GC we laid an egg.
