A bit of a positional need break down post free agency since it seems we will only add min contract vets from what walters was saying. Starting DBs, Ford/kramdi Nichols BA Holm Parker. That leaves 1 full time spot for sure open, and parker will likely have to win a spot as well. Starting OL Bryant, Neufeld, Kolo/Eli, Dobson. That leaves one spot open, and likely our 6th OL will be the back up C. Wrs Lawler, Woli, demski, Schoen. Which leaves 1 imp starting spot, and a back up NI wr spot (Likely Murphy.) DL WJ Thomas/lawson Fox Haba/Garbutt. Likely Fox will have to win a spot in camp, as well as the 2nd DE. So we will likely see 1 full rookie imp starting on the OL, plus one back up moving up to starter. At WR we will certainly end up starting a 2nd full imp rookie, DL also has a very high probability of seeing a full rookie imp starter. In the secondary I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 rookie starters, 1 is for sure. So we will probably have 4-5 rookie starters. We also might be looking at a rookie kicker, (hope castillo re signs) possibly a rookie KR, and a mostly new Sts / cover team. Strevy, while familiar with buck will also be adapting to bucks offence, though I think that will be a great benefit by time the season starts. JY as a rookie Dco isn't much of a concern to me with Hall staying on. Davie ritchie used to say you lost 1 game per rookie starter you had. I think that is more true for mediocre teams or rebuilding teams. For an established team with a strong locker room like ours I don't think it will be soo rough. I also think we will become far more dynamic and by mid to late season have developed far better depth than we had last year. How do you grade this off season/FA for the bombers? Strevy back is a huge win, especially on such a team friendly deal. That and keeping both schoen/brady for less combined than any one wouldve thought is another A+. A couple of the subtractions to the roster are also a big win. It sucks not getting any league vets to come in for starter spots, but our scout team is dynamite. Id say this off season is a B+/A-. We are gonna get some more blue chip prospects at several positions and I don't think we will miss a beat on offence. If we manage to get those blue chippers in the places of need and they show up to camp, I think it'll be a solid A off season at worst. We've never struggled to find rookie talent on D either. Or win with rookies on D for that matter. in 19 pundits doubted our secondary league wide. But the 2 rookies who started on the same side of the field as each other have turned into a regular NFL starter quality player, and a guy whose among the very best covermen in the league.

With him and Chris Edwards both retiring, that's a big financial hit for the league. The money the league collected in fines from those two has probably paid for Ambrosie's salary the last few years. 😂

Sometimes I think ppl read to far in to things. He likely means he has no money for a Tim white type. He doesn’t mean he doesn’t have enough money to put the roster together lol. 5 starters need to be replaced. That’s not that much and our depth? I mean depth is replaceable. Clements was never taking a starting spot. Hansen wasn’t either. Neither was Exume. lots of worrying over basically nothing. It’s also February so. who have we lost really. hardrick cuz sask gave him keys to a bank Jeffcoat cuz retired. houston? In my opinion he wasn’t even our starting CB. sounds like outside of Hardrick the guys we lost were guys we also decided to let go.

to be honest our starting depth is just fine with any combo of Bryant, Eli, Dobson, Neuf and Kolo....a rookie right tackle in that group isnt gonna kill us...and quite possibly if this Vanterpool kid pans out he can be more versatile than Yosh in how we use our Tackle....won't be as experienced, but doesnt need to be coming into a vet laden room and playing next to a solid vet in Neuf

Yeah I think Neuf and his solid presence at guard will help out whomever takes over at tackle You don't want in essence 2 changes on the line to cover 1 spot

Broxton, McGlouster, Lofton were all tackles our scouts brought in that started for other CFL teams last season.

If you hear Walters' comments today, it really is that our remaining roster needs to be filled with guys on minimum contracts. So we're losing depth pieces that we probably would have liked to keep. It's not the end of the world, but the scouts are going to be earning their keep this season. For starters and depth.

I suspect Walters has a little bit of money if the right player, for the right price, comes along.

Nothing like dancing on a guy’s grave on his way out with some cheap pot shots and character assassination of a serviceman. Sometimes I agree that Lyin’ Guy wasn’t far off with his “bunch of assholes” comment. Not upset about the cut from a roster point, but the man came in and did whatever was asked of him and did it competently enough, whatever the assessment of the skill of the position or the utility of the roster spot. And he served his country in the military in an elite service branch that makes him deserving at least of thanks and respect instead of mimicry, and makes him as tough if not tougher IMO than any poster on this site, whether they be ex-football player, gym rat, or keyboard comedian wanting to see circus acts or having a laugh at his expense.

Strev adds a massive dynamic to this offense and the price we were paying prukop.. Our offense looks like an Allstar team, but our defence, I'll be honest. Concerning. With the continuity lost and other teams improving I wouldn’t be surprised if we win Less games this year. But I think we will be a better more talented and athletic team, and a lot more dynamic after new guys are just the guys. We will find talent.

If he starts at wil out of camp he’s going to be the talk of the league. He plays on more of an edge than most of our front guys for the past while, is soo explosive and has a great instinct. Love watching him play.

Yeah...I don't want a Hallett long-term at safety either...kramdi at SAM over Hallett to me is like picking the tallest little person...we really don't even need to go Canadian at sam anyway...I would like to just declare 1 national on defence and use it on the Line...with Lawson ..as the main guy...but that's what makes Kongbo a key add...or another producing Canadian....via draft...FA or trade...we got 10 picks...maybe get a guy like how we landed Lawson. And we could rotate a Ford or Kramdi in at times to go 2 import DT's as well as times or a cheetah package with 3 de's and Kongbo Another thing to really allow some defensive flex is tag Biggie as your Nationalized Player and actually use him as such 29 times a game and roll all Import....Walters and Miller should tell Osh to.suck it up..out aside his dislike of the rule and use it to make us better I think it is more of reviewing the season and where things went wrong..and where we could have been better it stuck out like a sore thumb...or was a decision that came from above Osh... It truly was one of the more pointless and basically stupid decisions I have seen in all my yrs of football...that is a coach killer maneuver but Osh was shielded by past success and all the accolades heaped on him...at least this yr now we know....well I hope we can know that outside of Castillo the rest of the DA's will have a useful purpose

Gerry James was a true super athlete. The media made a big thing about Bo Jackson & Deion Sanders playing MLB & football the same season. Think of pro football then followed by pro hockey with the Leafs in the same season. Perhaps even the same day. I believe I read a story somewhere that the Bombers won the 1961 GC in OT at CNE Stadium in Toronto. That night, James was in a Maple Leafs uniform playing defense at Maple Leaf Gardens. Back when the NHL only had 6 teams. Leafs Coach Punch Imlach liked him so much that he kept a spot open for him. I read Gerry James book. In it, he described his dislike for Bud Grant. How he felt he disrespected Canadians on the Bombers by his treatment of them. How Americans made more money than the Canadians & how cheap Grant was. James left the Bombers in a contract dispute & finished his career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. For decades, the relationship between the Bombers & James was scarred. I think things were better after Wade Miller took over as President & really wanting him back as a Bomber alumni but I don't think things were ever totally repaired.

I think after two years with Malik Clements and Brian Cole both on the team as backup LBs, they chose to re-sign Cole and try to find new young LBs to fight for an active roster spot. Must have thought Clements was not good enough in some way to be the heir apparent to Bighill. Fast but was in the wrong place a lot from what I saw. The Michael Ayers kid is the only one I think we've signed so far but I expect to see very healthy competition in camp there

More like ran it back for two years then ran it and fumbled on the 1 for the other two. The better team prevailed on those days but it still pisses me off that we weren't able to close out those other two Cups.
