  1. Pretty good day at Clandeboye School today, both Willie Jefferson and Patrick Neufeld made the trip out and read to the kids for I Love to Read month. Junior was able to wear the Oliviera jersey he got for Christmas and got autographs on his W chain.

  7. I can see if he was over 34..35....and totally a liability....He's not tho...and I wanna see if he is actually 100 percent healthy and has tossed the brace away.....and part of it I also think was whatever it was we were trying to do with the scheme there...Let him compete, and prove he top 2...3 again....if not we need to have more the cut-throat mentality and cur guys loose, as opposed to the old way of rewards for tender I have gone through 2 full rebuilds, and depending on the severity of the rebuild you are correct....and the fact he was still in a brace leads me to believe he wasn't 100% physically or mentally healed...so I wanna see this yr what he's got going on

  8. agree...but not to be stupid here and all...but theres a 1 yr stop gap to plug beside lawson and Fox for 8 to 10 snaps a game as we develop another guy from within.....and DA him in Jackson's spot for those 6 reps, as he has yrs experience in jumbo packages with Edm and Mtl.....guy is till effective and with a part time role....and offers more use/value than a Seal does

  10. Why? Free agent champions almost never win anything. Over paying veteran guys looking for a big pay day rarely works out. We did our part by getting Oliveria and Schoen inked, now we rely on our scouting, and once teams like the Riders, Redblacks, and Ti Cats are done spending stupid money we can usually be on the hunt for some good players without getting into a bidding war.

  11. Some decent DL available in Global Draft, mostly nose types. Hope we take advantage. If we can grab a guy that can play like 20-25 snaps that would be huge. Canadian Draft a bit sparse this year when you see the guys coming to combine. Everyone else after NFL tryouts. Not many guys in there that will play right away.

  13. Nichols is the best or top 2 dbs in the league....Houston is not...far from a top db...The fact he paid at par with Nichols is a joke

  14. For me, Castillo far and away the most important signing remaining.... glad to hear they're talking. Let's get it done!

  15. Nephew gave me a call yesterday all excited that Demski and Neufeld read to his class.

  16. I don't think anyone will use him on offense at all. He's shown that he has very limited ability as a receiver. He got to start a run of games here with some injuries and could do nothing. Even McCrae was far better on offense. He's a pure returner. Injuries are going to be the issue with getting paid for him.

  17. Well then coach needs his eyes checked because those guys never should have been on the field in the Grey cup.

  18. keep in mind, FA doesn't actually open until next Tuesday. This year there just seems to be a lot more information during the "tampering" week than normal, so it maybe feels like there should be more information...... but I'm sure this time next week we'll know a lot more.

  20. thats practice....game movement...intensity and need to be explosive is a totally different cat....and in "practice" to show how you look you don't/can't replicate that...and won't...this comes from being there and done that....and we saw in the game...3 guys did not have it.....why people keep trying to deflect and not throw blame at Osh is baffling...and as a coach of his pedigree and success should have known better, and put team first and not player loyalties..was a bad bad decision...Hopefully was also a lesson learned moving forward overpaying and just tossing money out the door...is desperation management....and thats what Sask is fully in on right now

  21. He doesn't need to be a depth guy, just needs some depth behind him that can take meaningful, impactful snaps.

  22. also wouldnt be surprised to see us maybe bring Mike Jones back if price works...be a nice piece who can play HB/CB and knows the CFL well...and still under 30

  23. Speaking of top DB's today is the day that the NFL option window closes. I guess Holm is officially coming back?

  24. hope last year's drop off was just a glitch. BA can be pretty dominant when in first class form.

  25. Betts is so one dimensional. A strreaky pass rush end only. Lousy against containing the run inside. sask or BC can have him & overpay. With the money we have we should be able to bring in some DL help as well as linebacker. We need to shore up our defense.

  26. What a ******* wagon that guy is! Am I right guys? Guys? Not gonna lie - he looks legit. Excited to see him come up here.

  27. looked him up online... he's a monster... looks built like Alan Ritchson (Reacher)........

  28. Big de, almost more of an undersized dt body, 6’5 260s with dt type of athleticism. Part of some really dominant line.

  29. Agree, it sure looks like he was game managed last season for what is likely a chronic hip injury. If they can sign Jeffcoat for one more season and he spends 6 meaningless games mid-late season on the IR, it saves valuable cap money and it's the perfect opportunity to find his replacement and get him up to speed, be it Haba or someone else.

  30. def some culling of the heard here this yr, mind you some of it should have happened last yr already, but good to see, as waiting one more yr would have created a huge roster turn over at a bad time

  31. some Hungry youth like Davis II would be a welcome add.....and a Kongbo re-union to where he flourished would be the perfect guy to rotate in with along with one of the new guys...

  32. I’m ready to move on from JJ. Sometimes business works both ways - I want Davis II JOD is going Xmas shopping and will be stressing out when the credit card bill comes.

  33. Other teams are full aware of his injury issues...so top end money won't come his way from them either...hence why you havn't heard his name in any deals...so if its a case Team X offers him 19ok to 205k and we say we can make it work at 170k...175k....No doubt he sticks here, but to speak to that other point makes it even more imperative that we scrap the Jackson use and field another rotational end not named Bennet...or use snaps to play an interior guy outside and further bagging them out. For WJ and JJ to be effective...Heck any duo you want and need another guy spelling them off...if not 2....and then you can use them in different front all together...this is where we have failed badly last 2 yrs...and its shown

  34. If it’s an incentive based deal with a lower base I’d be good with it. Love what he brings when he’s actually on the field.

  35. yeah everyone is banged up....but 3 guys who shouldn't even been on the filed is bad....and then dressing a back-up in Mcrae...who also wasn't good enough to be effective as witnessed by not even seeing the field once, as a back-up to the 2 injured guys on offence...is even worse....especially when Demski was far from healthy too....but in that area of for playoff ball healthy enough...Bailey...Schoen..Biggie and McCrae had no business being on roster well....no....not across the board....and not to the point it limits your play.....
    3 points
  36. There is a whole lot of room between fully healthy and able to play at the necessary level....

  37. Rider's loading up...Carney now...guy would have looked good here.....they trying to buy a one yr turn around and curious still on the Oullette and now Carney numbers, as if they higher price targets too...they will have next to nothing for depth.....I sure hope that we didn't sacrifice defensive help for the big offensive salaries, and that we have a plan/idea that some the new recruits, and a couple holdovers can step up...Hold overs not being Bennett..Thoms...Schmeckle....because if they are the plan, and nobody new steps up or gets a legit shot...we gonna be a hurting defensive unit and will need to throw up 35+ points a game

  41. Rider "cast-offs" have done quite well here. Recent ones being Hardrick, Jefferson, Collaros. They just can't evaluate talent.

  42. They've added several return candidates. In the past few years they haven't.

  43. He knows, he just doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds him, IMO. He has no problem throwing out numbers for other teams but doesn't want to make it seem like the Lions are spending wildly so he keeps that under wraps.

  44. it seems to me that would be easier to do when signing with a contender...you pretty much know you're getting play off money...up to $23 000

  46. I got curious.... In the last twenty years, the only Calgary QBs who were not first recruited into the league by the Stamps were Glenn in 2012-2013 and McManus in 2006. that's a pretty amazing run of homegrown QBs.
