I'm expecting a big, big game from Flanders.  He'll be hungry.

That'd be nice.  Just hope we aren't rushing him and that hamstring back a little too soon.

I think people are underestimating how badly this regime wants to host a home playoff game. If they feel LeFevour is their best option (besides Nichols)... right now, today...they'll go with him.

I agree and if Nichols could go I believe he'd be playing. Very worried for Nichols. That injury might be a season ender.

I share your concern. It is no coincidence that the Bombers' fortunes improved as soon as Nichols was made a starter. We will probably know next week whether Nichols will be taking first-team reps, and if we get a lame excuse as to why he isn't out of caution, that will set off alarm bells.

Sure but his stance sure seemed a lot more like, "coaches don't know what they are doing if LeFevor is starting!" to which I replied. "i trust his judgement over a fans.." leading to this spirited debate.  please do keep up.

What's the point of saying stuff like this? Does it make you feel better?

yea well I hate the argument that people actually believe a fan's opinion is more valid and accurate then a coach and his coordinators who have been doing this job and playing this game their entire lives..

There are instances this season where posters here seemed to be ahead of the coaches.  Roc for instance.  Last season, Drew Willy.    There are others.

Why did Roc get so much chances, and Davis gets maybe a half?

Why has our defence been so bad for the entire tenure of O'Shea?

Coaches make  mistakes.  Sometimes fans are right.

ya or maybe Davis has looked like **** all week and Lefevor looked better and thus giving us a better chance at winning?  Couldn't be that hey?  Or Lapo giving Fevor his nod of approval, as we do know O'shea defers to his co-ordinators..

couldn't be that we don't see what they see.. we are much more able to evaluate QB talent and skills from our couches and seats at the game.

I'd defer to a pro over a couch potato any day of the week, wouldn't you?  I mean, besides the fact they sit, talk, watch and review what these guys do, day in and day out.. versus us who watch, what. 1 game and maybe a practice, if that?

the fact I even have to argue this baffles me, honestly.

I like the decision to go with Lefevour in this game.  They are going all out to win this game and the Stampeders aren't far behind them.  There is a lot more at stake for the WFC than there is for the fans.  The fans want to see the Bombers win a Grey Cup.  So does the team, but the team really wants a home playoff game ... with a packed house.  The chance of that happening are a lot better if the team somehow-anyway possible - wins on Friday.  Money is important.

And that should make for a more interesting game on Friday.

They want to win the game and Lefevour gives them a puncher's chance.  The game will be played in tough conditions and a playmaking athletic QB can be the difference.  Lefevour is a big strong athletic QB.  He is a tough runner and comes out swinging (good and bad).

Give me a break on the "but MOS said Davis was #2" and "but he is so loyal" talk.  Coaches are loyal to whatever and whoever gives them the best chance to win.   There is always a silent add on to whatever the coach says.  "Smith is our starter!"  Really means "Smith is our starter! ... until I find someone better."

On the decision to start he with the capital L and capital F the coaching staff mentions:

-“He’s been in the league for six seasons, dressing for 71 games and will make his eighth career start in Cowtown, while Davis has one career start and 47 games under his belt in his three years in Winnipeg.”

-“LeFevour did take more snaps, coming into games as a short-yardage specialist, and occasionally staying in games after converting those situations to run a hurry-up attack.”

-“You go back and look at his entire body of work and there are games that he’s played where he’s really moved the ball, took care of the football, made plays off schedule,” - O’Shea.

-“We certainly evaluated what happened after the game and we felt that Dan brings some things that other quarterbacks don’t in our system so we felt he deserved the opportunity to play,” added offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice.

-“(Experience) matters at any position, maybe more so at the quarterback position. There’s a certain level of comfort that comes with experience, just the idea that you’ve been there and done it, seen more pictures and played more snaps.”-O’Shea

And there it is. Experience. You know, like preparing for a CFL football game. And starting a CFL football game. Chances like this don’t come along very often for the #2 QB in the system. And Davis gets bypassed. So remind me again how Davis is supposed to get this experience...

Past game experience is important they tell me, but I guess the recent game experience for LeF shows....what again?

I get they want to win this game, but I’m not convinced this is the way to go about it.

Lefevour's got more CFL experience. Davis has more upside down the road. If MOS is valuing experience over upside, then I have to wonder if we've lost Nichols for the playoffs, otherwise it would make more sense to get Davis some much needed reps.

I don't know if Davis has more upside. I think the Bombers may bring in other qbs  this off season for training camp.
