  1. Can we just refer to "Pete" as John H... no that's too obvious, let's say J. Hodge?

  2. I would prefer that we drafted three FBs instead.

  3. The only way Dublanko isn't the first overall pick is if he dies (Ottawa might still trade up for him though) or it's revealed he's got a bunch of skeletons in his closet. He's quite likely the best player and for certain the best player who won't be in a NFL camp of the players available.

  6. Alright let's break down your 3 gripes about this mock then. 1) Ottawa is in need of a NI receiver but in a deep draft, do you reach and fill a position of need, knowing you can get a similar quality player later? Both mocks had the best available receiver going first so who's next and how far is the dropoff? What Edmonton does with the first pick could shape the way the first few rounds goes down. 2) Even Ferguson said he doesn't think Dublanco slides to 7th. He also had Lacrosse at 4 but says that's too early. Not sure why he put guys in spots he doesn't think they'll be picked in... It's kinda the whole point of the article? That's probably my biggest issue with his draft. 3) Didn't see you have the same angst for Hodge picking Straker at 3 as you do for Ferguson putting at 2? I get why both guys have him high though. Borderline NFL interest coupled with an underwhelming pro day means he will most likely be available for a team this season which is what you want from a high pick.

  7. We need to improve on both sides of the trench and at special teams. If we do that through drafting and recruiting, we'll be in good shape. Could take a while, though, for everyone to gel.

  8. Pretty much. If we see an improvement in pass pro, which frankly I expect, we will be in good shape. If however we can find an impact player especially in the front 6, that’s a game changer. We need to replace JJ full time, instead of half time, but I think we will manage. Teams is going to be a battle to watch in camp as well. Going to be tough if we struggle kicking off/punting and covering especially if grant isn’t back to over compensate for a lot of field position.

Hello, Canada. After 15 years, the one and only Lunchables is back on shelves across the country. No, it’s not a joke. And yes, we brought snacks. To make up for lost time, we're offering 10,000 FREE Lunchables to Canadians. Only one per household while supplies last, so better hurry. https://www.lunchables.com/en-ca/hellocanada

  11. As mentioned, we have the best QB in the league.... if we can protect that QB, and if our offensive weapons stay healthy, then we'll be in first at the end of the year. I'm hoping for some improvement along the DL (I don't know enough to know if it's scheme or personnel) and in kick covers....... but I truly believe we'll be much of the same the next two years. After the home GC, all bets are off... but the next two years should still be lots of fun.

    Around The NHL 2023-24

It's the NHLs blind spot... terrible players, who hurt others, but the fans love them. No one misses them when they are gone, especially the players that belong in the league. Same thing for that clown in NY.

  14. gotta say I'm not a fan of people on this forum who make snide remarks on the commentor vs the topic being discussed. (and for clarity ive said earlier that I dont think Hodges draft was good, just that Fergusons is worse.)

  17. It sure seems like both drafts are great candidates to fill out gaps if we can manipulate the draft and get quality picks at positions of need. This could well be a team that is much better in the final 1/3rd of the season as well.

  18. Right now I think we are an 11 win team still in the late season battle for first/second in the west with bc. But if our ol doesn’t replace rt well, or find a new impact player on D that could be plus or minus 2 very easily even before injuries are considered. I think this will be the closest the top teams have been in the cfl in years. All the play off teams could be with in like 2 wins of each other.

  20. I believe we ripped it off from Saskatchewan. In the age of fan bases dropping their team names or symbols as a chant during the national anthem (like the “True North” shout out), the Riders jumped on the band wagon and wanted to come up with something for their team. I am told (although I never noticed it in any games I attended at Mosaic) that when the line “glorious and free” came up, the fans changed it to “glorious and green” in a quasi rhyme reflecting their team colour. We co-opted it and went with the completely non-rhyming (and non-sensical) “glorious and blue” as a direct copycat move. Also because we didn’t want Jets fans having all the fun. Why we don’t yell “Blue” for “True” North Strong and Free instead is beyond me. Seems like a much more sensible fit and borrows the Jets theme but makes it Bomber centric.

  22. Definitely should be. let’s be real, we looking for a starting tackle. And probably 2 tackles to stick around also.So at the least 3 offensive tackles. Stan ain’t getting younger either.

  24. Yeah, one of the criticisms of S1 was the slow pace. I can attest that there is more going on in season 2. I finished the 1st two episodes of S2 and there are a couple of story lines that will keep things interesting. But I'm a Jeff Daniels fan so I'd continue to watch even if it was garbage. Lol

  25. My cos play analyst says once the first team picks an ol, the panic run in ol will begin. With a good 5 out of 7 picks following it being an ol. I’d love to see us grab a couple guys who will be in nfl camps refill the futures cupboard in the mid or late parts of the draft. But if we get one guy who becomes a starter and two decent role guy that will be a big win.

    The Winnipeg Thread

So not a random incident as the screenshot would suggest - the two men knew each other and had been in a dispute prior to the attack. Still very violent and shocking though, not what you expect to see when you pop into BK for your morning coffee. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2024/04/03/suspect-sought-after-slashing-inside-burger-king

  27. I was shocked when I found out Joe was American too....he always seemed so "Canadian" in so many ways...in this interview (from 1982) on Letterman he discusses how he ended up in Toronto and meeting this kooky gang of Canadians.... Edmonton sure takes a beating in this interview too which is hilarious. I like how John Candy is smoking during the interview, classic 1980's. Historical context - at this time John Candy was in a war with SCTV producers because they weren't paying the actors very much and were very cheap, and Candy was pretty bitter about it. The character "Guy Caballero" was actually a parody of the main producer and was created out of an act of defiance by the SCTV cast. It was actually sad to hear how a show so good and so funny and so Canadian was enduring all kinds of animosity and turmoil behind the scenes.

  31. Can't say anything about the Riders as that's the 1st I've ever heard about them chanting green (I have also never heard it when I have been to Mosaic) but it has nothing to do with the Jets. The blue chant predates the Jets 2.0 so not wanting their fans to have all the fun is incorrect. Fans have been doing this sort of thing for decades (see the KC Chiefs for example) so it's nothing new.

I've got my fingers crossed that Calgary Stampeders Classics will upload the September 1983 home game vs. Regina. That was my very first live game and the day I fell in love with the Bombers. I grew up rural and had never seen 25,000 people in one place before! Not only that, it was Tom Clements' first game as a Bomber.

  40. My nephew claims credit for alerting Taman to a player in 2005 or 2006. He submitted a question to a weekly column in either The Sun or Free Press, where Taman answered reader inquiries during the offseason or something like that. He asked if Taman was considering signing a recently suspended NFL running back (I think Ontario Smith based on some googling), to which Taman replied in the negative, not in the plans. However, a few weeks later, the team signed the running back! Taman never acknowledged or thanked him for the scouting tip! LOL! Sorry if he's told this story in this forum before, I know he still lurks.
