  1. Popped into this thread looking for info on Stevs and Kongbo... reads through amateur curling copium and @17to85 getting his ass mauled by a drunken teenager on outside sheets...

  2. For sure. We are running it back with some older vets in key positions. They are still high level playmakers. That doesn't mean that Walters is disregarding father time though. I expect recruitment for OT, MLB etc is something our scouts are keying on this year so that when these guys eventually show their age we are ready. It is absolute nonsense to suggest that time is now though. Bighill, Big Stan, Yoshi etc are all very, very good players still that have not shown they need urgent replacement....but yes they will be among the first players in our core to be replaced when it is time and that is I am 100% sure where Walters will begin putting the onus on our excellent recruiting staff to prioritize.

Not sure how you can equate the modern day republican party to the modern day Democratic party... why would you do that? They are not even close to being in the same orbit of lunacy- shake your head.

Fox News Edits Out Trump Saying He Would Let Russia ‘Take Over’ Parts of Ukraine -REUTERS Donald Trump has long insisted that the Ukraine war would have never happened if he were still president, going so far as to blame the “rigged election” on Russia’s unprovoked invasion while claiming he had the magic words to stop the fighting “immediately.” During a radio interview with Fox News host (and longtime confidant) Sean Hannity on Monday, the twice-impeached ex-president finally revealed how he personally would have prevented the war. According to Trump, all he needed to do was let Russia “take over” parts of Ukraine.

Louisville Police Department ‘Unlawfully Discriminates Against Black People’: DOJ A new report by the Department of Justice determined that the Kentucky police department responsible for the 2020 killing of Breonna Taylor “unlawfully discriminates against Black people,” among other findings. The report, released Wednesday, found that the Louisville Police Department uses excessive force, uses invalid warrants to conduct searches, unlawfully stops people and “violates the rights of people engaged in protected free speech critical of policing.” The DOJ’s two-year investigation began following the killing of 26-year-old Taylor by Louisville police officers, who knocked her door down while executing a drug search warrant. Taylor was fatally shot by police after her boyfriend fired a shot at the officers as they came through the door. Last year, a Louisville officer pleaded guilty to falsifying the warrant that led to the deadly shooting. The scathing report details widespread abuses of power within the department and a lack of accountability. “Failures of leadership and accountability have allowed unlawful conduct to continue unchecked,” the report says. “Even when city and police leaders announced solutions, they failed to follow through. In LMPD, officer misconduct too often goes unnoticed and unaddressed. At times, LMPD leaders have endorsed and defended unlawful conduct. A street enforcement unit that violated LMPD policy and federal law has been repeatedly rebranded, but never disbanded.” The report also notes that the city of Louisville has paid out more than $40 million in the past to resolve claims of police misconduct.

Does it even matter what is in the budget. It's over for the PCs in Manitoba in October. That ship has sailed. In four years they can focus on regaining a majority but this budget won't help them then. New leader, new candidates, new vision they can sell against Kinew's crew is the only path forward for them now. I, for one, welcome the change. I think political parties have a two term shelf life and should be shown the door. Very rarely does any government do anything very well in their 3rd consecutive term and beyond. Not sure why that is exactly, perhaps they just get tired out or get too brave and start implementing too far away from centre...not sure...but it is usually a **** show.

Even now, around the league, we are seeing some contracts that are head scratchers but would make sense if the GMs happen to know a little more than we do. I will not worry about Schoen until it is time to do so. I would never have imagined we could create the cap space to bring back Lawler this year...but somehow Walters made it happen.

    Around The NHL 2022-23

It's irrelevant. Your only "argument" is based on someone else's PPG average projected over a full 82-game season*, which is something Tanev has never done (80 is his career high). What good is cherry-picking data to bolster your claim he's a player the Jets miss right now? * rendering it a useless point (which said poster excels at making)

That's my point. Isn't it up to the canadian educational system to teach students about our history?? People aren't going to suddenly wake up at age 35 wanting to know who Wilfred Laurier was. Or what was this jet fighter in the 50's our Canadian engineers developed & Diefenbaker killed at the strongly urgent demands of US President Dwight Eisenhower?? Those things are just getting washed away in the rivers of time.

  38. If that was the case we wouldn’t be running back with a mostly same roster as three years ago. he was brought in at the end of the year. Clements was quickly and frequently exposed. Yeah I’m not counting Sam as a lber spot, some guys bring extra in the box value but it’s a 4-2 league now. that’s the game though. Could’ve been a whole lot worse. but it’s a big reason why the mafia have to bring in more better quality depth in the front than last year. hopefully he comes back strong and can stay healthy. Love that guy and what he brings. Especially losing kongbo to the nfl we need that guy rotating.

But the discussions regarding the topics include history of them so really history is baked into social studies. Which IMO is ok. Gives a more fluid teaching on how history has shaped current society.

  40. Rutherford was drunk when he offered Tanev that contract. He's a solid third liner with a good motor but not at that AAV. He's also never scored 35 points in a season, let alone averaged that amount over his career: https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/t/tanevbr01.html And grittiest? Adam Lowry would like a word.
    1 point
  41. Lowry can’t be that guy because he can’t score. Sometimes the leader doesn’t just have to scare guys, he needs to say “ I am putting this team on my back and single-handedly winning this game.” A guy who scores once in 34 games is not that guy, no matter how much “character” he has. A Connor McDavid can call out his teammates for poor efforts and not producing because no one can fire back “oh yeah, what about your performance of late?” Right now the only guy on this team who can criticize others for lack of results in the past two years and not have to look in the mirror about his own play is Hellebuyck.

You're forgetting about Obby. The guy should be in charge of the department of government grants. Received the most Covid funding grants from the PCs while unsure which party he would join. Soon after receiving the grant he joins the PCs and his business is no more. Wondering if they are trying to add to the resume of some of these candidates to give them more credibility for the next election. I know Obby and Klein were tight in the byelections and I wouldn't be surprised to see Teitsma and Morley-Lecomte pushed too. I'm sure they'll all be front and centre giving away tax dollars making a ton of announcements over the next few months with Stefanson in preparation for the next election.

I couldn't believe it myself. Kids in Alberta have no clue about Canadian history. My youngest actually read up on our history over the years & knows quite a bit about it. So, where does he end up living? Seattle. My oldest here in Calgary doesn't care about Canadian history. Knows nothing about & doesn't give a ****. Ask him about Vimy Ridge or Dunkirk & he knows nothing about it. The Alberta Conservatives took Canadian history out of the curriculum many years ago. Interesting that the NDP didn't put it back in when they had the chance.

Proof? What proof??? Why would I lie to prove a point here? What you're asking is impossible to do.. That would be like asking for proof what the Grade 12 curriculum at Churchill High School in Winnipeg was like in 1968. I worked at Centennial High School in Calgary for nearly 10 years as an Educational Assistant. From 2005 to 2014. They had no history courses available to students back then, They had one Geography class that studied the rise of European Nationalism. I wanted both my sons to have studied Canadian history but there wasn't anything they could take. Other than that, it's all I can tell you. Same thing at Lord Beaverbrook with my older son.
