  1. What's crazy is how this teams management and the way they manage roster..and prep for future is top notch...we've developed..replace and retooled through as goosen and chungh loss....Desjarlais..and Eli and just reload and don't miss a beat...crazy...other teams if they aren't envious are just oblivious then on how to manage a roster

  5. Wow .....from last tweet o'shea quote on Deatrick Nichols: "he was extremely humble with the idea he was going to learn as much as he could and take those opportunities to learn, listen, figure it out and not take that for granted. “He’s an unbelievable football player and super smart. I thought he was a terrific learner last year.”

  6. Re: O line.... need to give a lot of credit to the O line coach, Marty Costello. "Marty Costello enters his seventh year with the Blue Bombers in 2022, and fifth as the club’s offensive line coach. Costello has earned the utmost respect for the work he has done with the Blue Bombers offensive line, which remains the most-consistent and dominant unit in the Canadian Football League. The 2021 season was particularly rewarding for Costello and his charges as they played a critical role in the 2021 Grey Cup championship. The offensive line surrendered the fewest quarterback sacks in the league as part of an offence which also finished first in scoring and second in yards rushing. Prior to 2021, the offensive line also had a lot to boast about, as running back Andrew Harris has captured three consecutive CFL rushing titles, while the offence finished first in scoring in 2018 and second in 2017. Heading into the 2019 season, Winnipeg’s O-line lost two starters in the offseason with centre Matthias Goossen retiring to work with the Delta Police Department and Sukh Chungh leaving in free agency. As well, the club was without Neufeld for the first half of the season due to injury. Yet, Costello’s crew continued to provide holes for Harris while protecting three different starting quarterbacks in Matt Nichols, Chris Streveler and Zach Collaros. Winnipeg’s 2,663 yards rushing was the most by the club since 1965, when the team rushed for 3,005 yards in a 16-game season." lots more https://www.bluebombers.com/football-operations/marty-costello/

  8. Yeah it's a great read. What I find interesting is he looks much more svelte then he was at texas state. When he went viral for his athleticism at maine he was 344lbs. Dunking, diving one handed catches, a ridiculously fast shuttle time etc. When he went to Texas he lost 14 lbs and was playing at 330. He is now listed as 314. If he has dropped 20-30 lbs from his maine weight, his mobility is going to be un real. I mean he was already a generational big athlete at 340 for the US. For a Canadian in the CFL at 325-320 or under its going to be crazy.

  11. Jalen looked like he wasn't overly fighting for catches but it's early,Bailey looks like he'll be a work horse with short under routes and intermediate but looked solid, QBs didn't have the greatest day, DBs were flying around, Demski looks like he lost a little weight and got leaner. Caught the last hour or so but spectacular weather for TC.

  12. Was at TC today being a fan. So mostly watching the receivers lol. Opinions and observations likely mean diddly squat. Janarion Grant is looking like he wants to play more offense. Looked great IMO. Have yet to see Saunders use his speed but he's got good movies. McKnight looks better at the present time. Looks like they're trying to get Whop (drop) Filyor (sp?) involved. He seems very dynamic running the jet sweep. Got open a lot but (gulp) having trouble catching the ball. Demski looks so polished out there. Hard to cover. Bailey is a beast. Not a burner obviously but he's going to make the job hard for DBs due to his size and motor. Looking more and more like Nik Lewis. Woli didn't have a great day IMO. Dalton Schoen looks to be about the same prototype but is faster. Used his size and speed to back DBs off. Looked good. Lucky Jackson is also a sizeable fast receiver. McUlvene (sp) looks like one of those guys that quietly makes catches. Ellingson, Agudosi and B Jackson not practicing.

  13. Can add Bond to that list as well. I've been trying to remember just how many OL this team has lost since 2016. At least 1 a year I believe.

  14. Not sure if anyone's been following the goings on at Lks TC, but Chris Jones calling Commonwealth a dump and they can't get the scoreboard to work properly or play music on the in house speakers. It sounds like the newly reformed marriage in Edmonton is off to a rocky start....

  17. Doesn’t throw with the high velocity in short to mid range, lots of years in college not great production, and didn’t play against great competition. With out a singular amazing tool it’s hard to get that interest. For the nfl he’s a high floor low ceiling guy. Though I think his balanced skill set athleticism and high football iq make up for not being a 5 star recruit with offers from all the big schools. I think strevy got the same level of interest.

  22. Grant would have had to start over & that wouldn'r have been easy. There wasn't much left of the old dynasty when he left after the 1966 season. The cupboards were becoming pretty bare. I think he knew that he took his Bomber team as far as he could as a Head Coach. Things were looking bleak especially qb wise. Ken Ploen was getting injured a lot as his OL was suffering through retirements & young guys coming in with little experience to start. Ploen would pay the price of their inexperience. He missed a lot of time his final season in 1967. Leo Lewis retired after the 1966 season as did other key veterans. Both Ploen & Frank Rigney retired at the same time before the 1968 season. Talk about a double whammy for the Bombers to absorb. All the retirements after Grant left was something his longtime assistant & now new HC Joe Zaleski just wasn't ready for. The opportunity to coach a good team in Minnesota was too much for Grant to pass up. At that time, the NFL was starting to become the juggernaut it is now & player salaries were escalating. The CFL was falling behind both the NFL & AFL. Grant did what was right for him. He earned it.

  25. Talk about your privileged son's private school hockey championship when asked about the death of an indigenous woman basically at the hands of your government's incompetence and that might hit your approval rating. She also inherited a party that was incredibly unpopular and didn't do herself any favours out of the starting gates. Kenney was at least chosen by his constituents and they should have known what they were getting.

  26. Its seems the only sniff he got so far is attending the Colts' mini camp last weekend. The guy is straight otta college so there may be more opportunities for him still.

  27. A lot to like about the guy. He throws 50 yard moon shots to his wr over the shoulder hitting them in stride. Great down field arm strength touch and accuracy. But when he's throwing short to intermediate he isn't trying to murder his wrs. The ability to take some velocity off his passes in that range is a big indicator of high level touch, and football IQ. He hits some crazy tight window passes in all ranges. And he does it both in the pocket and on the run. He puts the balls into good positions for his wrs to catch 50/50 balls more than 50% of the time, but also hit them in stride. For a dual threat qb, the ability to throw on the run, run the option, and keep the pass option open as long as possible when scrambling by keeping their eyes down field is huge. You don't often see a guy who is a real running threat, who can throw on the run, and doesn't turn off the passers brain when scrambling. Very much a streveler clone in how tough he runs, and the top speed. When at stride he looks like a wr running not a qb. And he doesn't have a glaring weakness. Quick release and strong arm, great touch and accuracy great head on his shoulders.

  28. Your comment won't change my opinion. This has nothing to do with forgiveness. If it was a legit health issue with Eli for not getting vaxxed then my opinion would be different. However, looks like it wasn't. Just that he simply refused to get the jab & it affected our depth on the OL for the Grey Cup. Luckily, there were no injuries in the playoffs or GC. . You only have to look at the Bomber organization & see how they feel. Seems like he was quietly released. If they weren't upset over what happened then I'm certain that he'd be back. He's gone. A free agent. He hasn't signed anywhere. The Bombers don't seem to want him back. That says it all. We all make choices & we have to accept the consequences.

  30. I could write a thesis on Edmonton vs Winnipeg. I love Edmonton.... Because it is so much like Winnipeg. It's Winnipeg if Winnipeg had oil money. I ******* LOVE Winnipeg and think it's the most underrated city in Canada. The second my life changes to the point where my wife and I are able to leave AB, I'm on my way...

  33. I wish they'd try to get the CFL on a major sports streaming service like Dazn. Expose the game worldwide. Develop a CFL video game. Look for different revenue sources. Why does our league not even try to think big or outside the box??

  35. A few predictions for TC / Pre season. Mourtada wins the starting kicking job and hackett the punting job. Legs hits the PR. We start to see guys like Richmond start to raise eye brows as back up imp ol. Prukop becomes the pre season mop and wins heir apparent title. Dru brown in the first pass of cuts. Augustine takes the starting job from Brady, but we still run a platoon. Augustine took a huge step forward prior to last year and can really hit the home run out of the back field. He's almost turning 29 soon and peaking physically. Brady will turn 25 this year and augustine has very little wear and tear on his body. I still have brady as slightly better, and better suited to being a no1 rb, but Augustine as the now guy makes the most sense. And I can see him coming into camp with an all time high level of motivation. The starting job is finally in his grasp. WR is the battle of camp. Grant takes some ones starting job and we platoon returners for a while with him. Namely Ford. Muckelvene is this years Mcknight/sheed Coaches favorite, and maybe an overachiever at wr as a rook. Lots of WR bodies stick around on the PR. Simmons, schoen, whop, and blake jackson make for a tough decision. A wr with cfl games played gets cut. (Feels like forever since we did that in TC. The back up DL continue to look great but get stuck behind the starters. Mack and Moala especially.

  36. A million times this. He didn't really come to fruition but Cody speller too. Also Travis bond. The way the mafia toiled away taking the OL from bad, to good, to great, and then from 3 imp to 2 imp, and built a sustained level of depth. That's the back bone of this Dynasty. A lot of other great teams have fallen to ruin with far less loss on the OL. Then they've also done the exact same thing in the defensive backfield. From bad, to anchored by guys like Mo and Randle to replacing 2 vets with 2 rookies last year and still having the best performing secondary of the era. And in general with the draft the mafia have done a tremendous job of weighing the risk of guys with NFL interest or who are returning to school with the probability that they end up back here. We've taken a LOT of future picks, but lost out on very little. I can't think of one dead pick that never came up actually. Guys like rene, borsa, dobson, Legs, Kongbo, and Gray either go back to college or have NFL interest but the bombers seem to estimate that risk and win the gamble nearly every time. But while also taking those up side future guys they manage to refill the depth with guys like the Hallets, exume, eli, corney, couture, loffler, gauthier, cadwaller and more. And yet still have upside assets left in guys like kramdi and Orange. The cfl draft is still as much a crap shoot as ever and you get Faiths, griffiths, etc, but despite frequently having the fewest and latest picks in the draft the Mafia continue to crank out tremendous draft classes. And we see off cuts like simonise, petey etc filling out spots around the league.

  38. I don't see the fit on D+. You're not going to draw fans into subbing to D+ to watch XFL games. Although I'm sure there is a lot of demographics that crossover with D+, it would make a ton more sense to put it on ESPN+. At least then, you're targeting sports fans, possibly adding value. Same amount of work and bandwidth regardless which streaming service they put it on. Unless they plan to merge the products, I don't see the fit.

  40. Teams shouldn't be given this kind of an advatage. Just like when the players went on strike, the practices in YYC & YEG should have stopped. The 2 teams could have meetings until they were in a legal strike postion but not physical practices.

  41. He was some kind of qb. He would be considered not just a CFL star but a superstar. Zach Collaros plays the game the way Clements would have.

  42. You won't get any argument about that from me. Grant won 102 regular season games & 4 out of 6 Grey Cups. Most younger CFL fans & media probably don't know that much about him. It was decades before their time. Another coach that barely gets a mention is Frank Clair who won 3 in Ottawa & I believe another one or two in Toronto before coaching in Ottawa. Or Frank "Pop" Ivy who won 3 Grey Cups in a row in Edmonton in the 50's. Hugh Campbell, Wally, Matthews, Bud Grant & Frank Clair are my Top 5.
