Wow! 3DownNationOttawa Redblacks trade Dru Brown to Winnipeg Blue Bombers...The Ottawa Redblacks have traded Dru Brown to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Ottawa Redblacks (0-2) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (2-1) at Percival Molson Stadium on Sunday, June 28 with kickoff s

Love this. The succession plan is clearer now.

in my opinion solid move...and picks...pffft....its a crap shoot at best and we may have 2 or 3 studs rolling in next yr...maybe even later this yr I not sure Perkins will, or should based on his play in Short yardage and really shouldnt...he's been as automatic as have been seen here as of late...as from how it stands now Elgersma would come in as #2 and we all know he will get zero reps unless ZC lost his leg....So Dru as the defacto #2 with Perkins as short yardage makes total sense this yr as Elg's learns and watches this yr I am sure nobody felt good with either if ZC was to go out for the yr...Walter's made a savvy move and gave up zero really for him

I love this move. I never wanted to see Dru leave in the first place. I’m thinking this is Zachs last season and we’re all in for a grey cup run so let’s get some insurance incase Zach goes down and Brown is our guy moving forward. He got absolutely pummeled in Ottawa but I think he can still be one of the best quarterbacks in the CFL if he can stay healthy

You don't limit their reps, thats just how many reps they can play in place of an ni. Cite your own work on 9 snaps per game because pff tracks snaps and the Nat players teams used (Like ham did with lawler vs us) didn't play less reps. We are actually starting an extra NI instead of using the nat rule.

Somewhere Terry Wilson's Mom is flipping out... Great move, I'd imagine Zach is retiring after this season. They'll find a way to keep all 4 QB's around this season. Next year Dru is #1, TE is #2 , Perkins is short yardage and change of pace 3rd stringer.

TE has a finger nail injury. He'll be on the IR

Can put TE on the reserve roster ever game.

WOW. Bryce gonna be pr bound I wonder?

I feel like losing, poor facilities, poor game day experiences and poor marketing have more to do with the Elk's decline in attendance than a name change. As for the other part, times change, societies evolve. We've decided to not name teams using pejorative racial terms. Hell, many of us likely called people or things gay growing up but would never do that now.

It's 2026 and we don't use cultures as nicknames for our entertainment. Jesus Christ Almighty...

I can see maybe bringin a guy back that was injured to re-evaluate but our constant bringing guys back who were cut or deemed not good enough to fill voids/injury etc doesnt say much about our coaching and ability to evaluate or the quality or depth of our scouting...does it? We should be cutting bait from former cuts and turning over new stones...or having new blood carried on the PR learning and developing Case in point Kornelson...what was he outright dumped 2 times..brought back....Played him...still showed he didnt belong...PR'd...Then a early signing this winter...could crack roster again...and again wasting space on the PR...let it go already...big reason why we lack depth and dont seem to ever have a guy in waiting anymore as we just hang on to garbage...or recycle our own cuts

Dinwiddie just cant get enough of 260 yard 1 TD 1 INT stat lines.

What is wrong with Dinwiddie that he thinks Maier is the answer.

I think Perkins is the SY QB and isn't going anywhere. Elgersma is a rookie and shouldn't be put in the position of starting if Zach goes down. He'll be placed on the reserve roster (they already moved Vibert to the PR to open up a slot for him).

Yeah I think a big part of this is Dinwiddie knowing he couldn't have the constant QB controversy. One of them had to go.

Ottawa going all in on Maier. Yeah. All that talk of RD being some sort of head coaching rockstar has taken a hit after a few games hasn’t it. Ottawa is more of a dumpster fire now than last year.

zc starts...dru is qb2..Perkins continues what he has excelled at....bumping Perkins off would be ...well stoopid but a classic osh move...so prepared for stooopid

That's not how it works. It doesn't change the number of Canadians and Americans on the roster. Just allows that American player in a DI spot to substitute for a Canadian starter for those snaps. So all you do is start a Canadian and start one of your guys who would be a DI. Put the vet as a DI instead of a starter. Now that vet can sub in for either guy. So like in our secondary....DI Nichols, start Vaval. Now Nichols can function as the 2nd Canadian on D for 25 snaps per game. So you can only have Kramdi or Lawson or Gatkuoth on the field with 11 Americans for those snaps. Could easily do it with Jefferson for DNA as well. And could designate any of those guys as the "8th Canadian" being nationalized for their tenure. But we don't. So we're running Jake Kelly out there for 25-30 snaps a game on D.

It will be interesting to see what happens with attendance in Edmonton now that they have a legit team, they pulled off a cardiac kids win against the best team in the East, and they have the most exciting player in the CFL as of Week 2. jeez, I am not looking forward to seeing Rankin in space against our linebackers. Hopefully the Elks get some nice weather for their next few home games. Elks - Als sure looked like a nice game to watch from home.

Surely to God there MUST have been cuts from other teams that were better, but.....Kornelson was at hand, so....

Yes my son?

they set a record for consecutive home losses, that is what cost thousands of fans. Fans complaining doesn't mean fans don't show up.

I don't know why people are saying this was a woke white people decision. There very clearly was pushback from some people in the Inuit community. There absolutely were some who had no problem with it but you're never going to get 100% agreement on something like this. These articles talks about both sides - it was hurtful for some in that community while others voiced support for it. Should be noted that some of the support was because what a football team calls themselves isn't high on their priority list. Thorax issues all around once again.....

Welcome back Dru.

Can you go on the IR if your feelings are hurt? Imagine what that IR would look like if so. This increases my curiosity with what is this fascination with JM in Ottawa. Welcome back to Blue and Gold Dru!

All I can ask is why couldn't walters have sweetened the pot and tossed in a Jones and Wilson and removed them outta our equation..if both so valuable why wouldn't a team want those toss ins???

You want a smaller injury prone qb to do short yardage? It’s a fairly important role in the CFL that you notice when somebody is bad at it ie Streveler last season.

Perkins is just the SY QB, and a pretty good one so far. I don’t think he’d be able to do much in a case of Zach going down.

thats the smart/right move

if our defence shows no progress from last 2 games, and we cant contain the FAJ like we couldn't contain the VAJ...And Rankin plays...well like Rankin...and we rotate excessively again where guys don't know their left from their right again...Edm will put up 30+ on us and own T.O.P....you can almost take that to the bank sadly...I am more than willing to be proven wrong and eat crow and you all have free range to let me have it verbally...I wont be offended as in end of the day I want us to be successful and win That being said I am not sharpening my knife and fork to prepare to choke down any crow until I see a reason to, and some advancement and still more change in how we roll things out.

Dru Brown is a Bomber. 1st & 2nd for Brown and a 2nd.

baby steps haha...I bet tho that Oladejo could have offered more than our bottom 2 canadians currently And to bring him in and really not give him an opportunity in a game to show yay or nay was kinda pointless too....why bother...Only way you can prove anything is under live bulletts...I can see if he dropped every pass to him in practice, or couldnt read a playbook or run a route....but that wasnt the case...some guys...even superstars look like turds in practice but when the lights come on.....diff story

AND for this alone he should have been shown the road outta town But you dont need to limit them...in the case of injury to a starting real canadian they can come in and satisfy ratio and you dont have to carry a lesser talented Canadian asa backup...or let Osh hav the urge to play his pet project crap guys The thing is regardless how we slice it, its a rule that would benefit us, as it does for other squads and osh refuses to use it to make "the team" better..deeper...whatever you wanna call it cause basically he is a smug knob at times and puts his personal bias at time ahead of the team as a whole...of that offends anyone or trigger people to attack me have at er...wont bother me and I actually relish the jabs from the many clueless not in the know people...Ive known and crossed paths with him for many a yr and he was a smug knob as a player...borderline dirty as well....he brought his smugness to his coaching career but oddly enough he seems to have a disdain for players who played like him...and to be frank we could use a few who played on both sides of the edge as he did...

Dinwiddie seems to be suffering from smartest man in the room syndrome.

Yup ..I bet both are..and if here this will be hitting ground running for TC 2027

we might use the reserve roster for qb4 as well. 4 qbs is the standard carry and perkins has been exceptional in short yardage. I’d eat my hat if he was cut imminently.

imagine if we finish top 3 and ott is the bottom team in the league? (which they look like currently) If we see some thing similar, and the conditional pick down grades it’s a big win. If it doesn’t down grade on the conditional, it likely means brown is our un contested starter next year and the value is still very strong. I’m happy to see us making moves and improving in season. Yep, we have two major lotto tickets that are tons more value than their selection pick. It’s possible both could be available to us this year.

Yeah basically we traded a 1st and 2nd likely later picks for an early 2nd and a QB.

He also has got hurt doing it...several times...id keep him away from it As a qb3 TE will never see the field..and Perkins so far has been lights out doing it..so why change what's not broken? So rostering TE to stand around won't develop him anymore than as the reserve guy getting full pay but just not dressing Plus...maybe Condell can use him in 2 qb sets and get ball in his hands in space..he would do a hell of a lot more integrated into offence on a few plays a game than Corcoran or Cobb will do all yr combined..there is that aspect to keeping him

Yup..we can dine together..i will bring da beers

Even if Maier turns the corner and starts winning games for them, you still need depth at QB to prosper in the CFL. Maybe there's pressure to cut salary in Ottawa? Maybe Brown was making too much to be QB2?

yeah based on the first couple games, I am not optimistic that our D has an answer for Rankin .... but I would much rather have a seat at the crow buffet than be right about that.

Twitterse people saying OTT is signing MBT....lol

Welcome home Dru!

Not answer. But hes been good at SY.

Relatively steep price. Not sure what role he serves unless Zach is hurt... But either way I'm glad he's back. Wish he'd never left.

Really happy about this. Kindly Cal!! Some bye-week fodder - Strev talks about how he ended up with Winnipeg.
