  1. This is so childish. You’re talking about his career like your feelings on the topic have any relevance.

  2. I don't see how schoen plays next year. He's a following year option if he is an option at all.

  3. I've seen a bunch of players and coaches in the NFL say that the talent gap between the NFL and the CFL is not huge. We don't have the top-tier outliers, and don't keep them when we find them, but average imp starter to starter it is way closer than people realize. The consistency of players, coaches, and systems here is too much for the UFL to overcome. Even though we see a lot of turn over with in the league each year, its still a lot of guys staying in the league and with similar systems. The top tier in the UFL is very good. The problem is that below that, it drops off a massive cliff.

  4. I think a lot of CFL fans don't realize that the CFL is viewed as league with a very high level of play by the NFL. It's a league where guys who have slipped through the cracks can get a legit 2nd chance. The UFL just isn't at that level of play because they are usually a rag tag bunch of whoever will show up so it's just really ugly football.

  5. Definitely.....make the smart move cash wise and pick up pointers from a winning qb....Someone should refer Elgersma to Vavals agent
    4 points
  6. Vaval has good representation and a in tune Agent who agreed with him to make the smart decision for this yr and just commit....and add to his tape...More guys need to find that type of governance in their career...Hello Elgersma

  7. yeah UFL doesnt pay much, and that rookie deal here needs to be tweaked....should be a range with max of whatever they deam practical, could also have a caveat that QB's are also on their own scale, so you could actually get a fringe guy from the NFL to come up here if they could get 150k a yr....would make a big difference as to who would come
    3 points
  8. All of that, coming up mid-way through last year, would've been great for him. Could've still looked at the NFL window this year for camp invites. The NFL wants to see guys like that produce in the pros, like Stiggers and Alford. They will kick the tires and use you in camp/ps, but breaking into the AR is very different. Even Rourke didn't do enough up here and in camp/ps down there to lock in a spot. And he really earned it. If Elgersma is really smart, he is using this as an opportunity to accelerate his growth and speed up his adjustment to higher levels of play.

  9. I would sign UFL as well. Players can opt out of their contracts for any other league anyway,
    2 points
  10. No kidding. The guy is 23 years old. One opportunity down south could be life changing money. He hasn't said a negative word about the CFL or the Bombers and he's just exhausting his options.

  11. which is the smart move...the game he should know inside and out already
    2 points
  12. Or spend a season backing him up learning the game then take the reins?
    2 points
  13. I just googled UFL salaries & qbs & they'll make $64000 US this season. Comparable to $85000 Canadian in the CFL for rookies. So, Elgersma will probably have to make a choice. Stay there & play in the UFL while probably never see the field behind NFL & 3 year UFL veteran Matt Corrall in Birmingham. Or come up here & never see the field behind Zach.

  14. but...U need to actually be on for the week leading up to a game....running around...random workouts.....gets you exactly 0.00 in your pocket....and teams for most part fly you in at their dime, but if you are there for 48 hours while they hum and haw...or run you through a couple looks...well then you are on your own after that for lodging and airfare back home....so there is that too Like Elgersma this yr...made a grand total of 0.00.....and if he just runs around looking for workouts again next yr...will earn again noting other than some per diem rate in a TC if he even gets an invite. So if he lasts the 6 weeks he will get 1850 a week in pay before tax (11 100 bucks), and if nothing pans out...again...then he gets another 0.00 wasting away If he woulda sucked it up and came up here and showed something....and earned his max rookie amount 85k...and took a shot in spring of 2026....where would he be better off $$ wise and actual development/exposure to the pros's??...Pretty easy answer Sure the allure of the PR money is there at 8400 usd per week....but you need to be on one....so say he lasts half a year...with exchange he makes about his cdn rookie salary...so is it worth it really with taxes and everything when it's a stretch a Canadian Trained QB would even get a legit shot?....nope...he has poor guidance
    2 points
  15. Yea...if the best offer you get is a futures deal it isn't worth it 99% of the time. Futures guys rarely make the PR. QB might be a bit higher than other positions but still rare.

  16. More than likely he is out this whole year....or at least he should be. Players do stupid things with their long term health, let's hope Dalton isn't one of them.
    2 points
  17. Pretty sure he is toast. But we always like to make sure a guy is absolutely ruined before we give up. He 100% wont be the guy he was before injuries again. Will he ever be a useful player in the cfl again? dunno. We have basically 1 imp wr at this point. Which is crazy. We need more than 1 guy to add. We need 2 starting wrs and a back up. Plus another canadian for depth at least.

  19. GAVIN MCKENNA BREAKDOWN vs. NOTRE DAME See link above. Interesting watch from last weekend's series. I know it's become popular, given the hype, to pick nits with his performance in college, but the talent is undeniable and might make some GM look foolish if they chose to be the "smartest guy in the room." If he's there, take him.

is it October yet? is Helle going to be in net or are they bringing in Pav and....would be nice to see Mason too (I'm being sarcastic about the Helle part)

  21. Yeah the quality is very comparable....The top 10..15 percent of the NFL roster player is elite and just the best of best...after that the quality of player os comparable and in many case inferior to top CFL players....but the politics of the NFL play a big role in that
    1 point
  22. Its more political than anything...Also think they spend these big bucks but they actually penny pinchers and wont invest much money into "possible development" or "possible potential" They see early, and fast if a player is just not worth the money to develop and would rather someone else do it for them..be it a different team or revisit a guy that came to Canada a few yrs down the road
    1 point
  23. A lot of people do not realize that NFL rosters are as much political as they are skill based. There is a massive bias against skill players coming out of the CIS. Trenches are trenches, the big men are big men in any league but receivers/QB/RBs coming out of the CIS are rarely anything more than TCF.

  26. Elgersma, and probably other NATs as well, would already be here if the CFL didn't have the ridiculous 3 year contract for crap money on NATs. UFL pays QBs up to 100k USD iirc. EDIT: 64k minimum contract with some making 200-400k. I would think Elgersma would be on the lower end. However, we just saw the UFL MVP sign with us to be at best 2nd string. I can't imagine that Elgersma has more earning potential that he does in that league.
    1 point
  27. Yea I was thinking more understanding the game better at the CFL level. And while I'm at it I really hope we utilize our 2nd string QB this coming season more than short yardage snaps. I just can't get over the absolute relunctance in doing so. I'm not suggesting pulling the trigger everytime ZC struggles, I'm suggesting being way more strategic with the back up QB other than hat on backwards signaling in plays trotting out onto the field for 3 and inches fall forward and being ready to go if ZC gets blown up.

    The Tech Thread

My cousin was in the market for a new TV about 5 years ago and did a bunch of research and found a pile of good reviews on TCL Roku so we each got a 65" for (I think) $549 or something... And have absolutely no complaints. Next house I think I'll upgrade to the 75, but otherwise I'm a fan of the TCL Roku TVs, in general...

  30. What does the UFL pay qbs? I think it's less than the CFL. probably does. Problem is, Elgersma's a rookie so he'll get $85000 Canadian to play up here which is much, much too low to get quality rookies to even consider coming to the CFL.

  36. I’m ok moving on from all 3 Amazing news about Vaval. I thought he was going to be one and done and get some NFL looks due to his age, but this is great news. He has a chance to become one of the all time great returners.

  37. Stan at the right price, I'd take... That's about it. Right now I'm wanting a good C, some IMP DL and REC... If we can grab some quality pieces there I think we're in decent shape.

  39. While I was hoping they would also increase the size of the screens, I am glad they are improving the resolution. Now, if they just make use of the full screen for replays on occasion. I know they need to advertise and show the score but they should be able to use the full screen for video more often.

  43. He was better last year than the previous year when he was banged up. With out Kola to drag the line down, I expect to see the healthy guys who play have a serious jump in their performance.

  46. He is cooked thanks to Osh & the medical staff. Where else is Neufeld going to play. he has a home here as he knows our blocking system & has played guard for over. He'd have to start over somewhere else. part of a successful Ol is continuity & trusting the guys beside you.

  47. Addison isn't just big (tall), he plays big. Converted to S during the COVID-shortened season after starting out as a WR (2 years). In the 3 years post-position change, he was very productive. The good: Size (6'5 195), Athleticism 4.55 40 10'7"broad, 36" vert, great explosive numbers, good speed, and average agility numbers. Successful position change. Versatility, he played a lot of teams, backed up, but played a lot of reps. Played very well against the run and the pass. Physical, with a great nose for the ball, made a lot of plays. The bad, a bit slight build for his height, 6-year covid super senior, despite playing well and for big schools, didn't get much NFL interest. The Ugly is, only a 1-year starter despite being in college for 6 years. Overall, really good pick up for camp. Very high upside, the type of guy who could fit extremely well into JYs system, and has an inside track to playing his way onto the team with his team's skill set. He's a crafty, extremely physical football player who has that lunchbox ethic and dog mentality that Mos loves. Which, in a very big-bodied athletic DB, is a great combo. He's going to be in a very tough position to make the roster, with Kramdi/Allen/Woodbey, hopefully Griffin, and likely Vaval as a Di. But he's got the talent where he could come in and take a job, or capitalize on any opportunity that pops up. https://www.nfldraftscout.com/cfb/bio/1021804 https://uclabruins.com/sports/football/roster/bryan-addison/14419
