  1. Think everything we need to know about Hogan came from Lapo on a broadcast when he said something along the lines of "that's a whiskey bottle play call.... because if it doesn't work everyone in the stands is going to throw a whiskey bottle at you"
  2. 6 points
I’ll just take these moves at face value. Hogan, it seemed like everyone knew he sucked at his job and it grew to be a point of contention with several players (Zach, Brady, etc) so I really don’t get the desire to bring him back in any capacity. Jake, as much as I’ve hated seeing him get trotted out there for the past … 5??? years, I’m really not too bothered by us hiring him. That being said, I think it’s fair to say this isn’t a move that gives me confidence as a fan. Also fair to say, it’s probably the first move we’ve made all offseason that has given me pause (and the fact that it’s an O’Shea decision shouldn’t be lost on any of us)
  3. From prison or Bombers?
  4. Hogan threw his players under the bus a couple of times. A coach needs to fall on his sword for his guys. Not blame them for losing.

signed peyton thorne. wow its going to be interesting to watch the qbs in camp. Mich state, auburn, played at good schools. Guy has incredible raw talent and athleticism. Easy smooth arm action with a good release. Very capable runner. He’s not really wired for high volume running. Great upside in a young guy.

No interest in Woods. We should be exploring the idea of whether or not Shay can play there. Or recruiting for it.
  7. Live shot of my nightlife:
  8. No more JT on the d-line, no more Hogan running the entire offence, it’s a beautiful day! 😁
  9. This is the feeling I'm getting too with this move. Like "Hey you stepped up when we were in a tight spot, it didn't work out but we don't want to cast you aside because of it"
  10. I think we're missing a positive, Jake will no longer be getting a huge number of reps on the Dline. This means more reps for Lawson and hopefully we actually use Smith and Shay on D to take some of those reps that went to guys like Jake.
  11. Too bad about Parker as I believe injuries kept him from being really good. That said given his injury history, I am ok with them moving on. When does Dillon Mitchell get officially released?
  12. AJ Allen would be a great get.
  13. going jones to sankey is a lateral move, certainly not one worth losing sleep over or spending money on. We have a good group of bigger wils who can actually run/cover ground, and play inside gaps. The only LBers in free agency I would look at is allen, and mcmanis. Who are the top tier of value at wil/mac.

....nice to see I'm not alone...I don't think he has many fans in the Peg....sort of a 'persona non grata' around here....and that's being kind
  15. 2 points
My buddies and I (somewhat jokingly) talk **** about him every time we see him on the panel for this very reason...
  16. 2 points
Going back over the years and looking back at the hold out names we drafted, that didn't work out, how about the obvious one sitting on the tsn panel Henoc Muamba....We wined and dined the guy and his family...bent over backwards to sign him ,then he did a tour of the CFL AND suddenly signed with Montreal....I still have problems with this guy, whenever I see him mouthing it up on games
  17. We had a subpar offense and nearly no pressure from the d-line last year.... instead of making clear changes to improve we bring back two guys who were partially responsible for these issues? How many times does it work when you dump a girlfriend and keep her as a friend afterwards? The smart thing is a clean break and moving on.
  18. I’m just hoping JT is given a great dline to work with. Why not have that high expectation. Time to define our identity starting in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

    https://3downnation.com/2025/12/22/b-c-lions-release-pending-free-agent-lb-josh-woods/ This should we pursue.
  20. Guy is more respected than you are.
  21. Sorry for disliking suckage...this is the only place in my varied career where less than adequate is tolerated and the norm Jake was halfway serviceable maybe 5..6 yrs ago but even then he was bottom teir..we had a decade to upgrade the roster spot...chose not to....not how I roll that's fir sure
  22. Interesting piece by Tait as always but I always take his work with a grain of salt as he's a mouthpiece for the club.

Look at it this way.... Jake Thomas didn't get to the CFL from his god-given natural ability so presumably he was very receptive to coaching along the way. Now maybe all those lessons he learned are things he can pass along. Or maybe the hate brigade is right and he will be terrible. It remains to be seen, i just know that retirement into coaching isn't an out of left field thing for players like Jake Thomas.
  24. Now, if they would name Kola as the new head of catering….indisputable.
  25. 2 points
He can't be as bad as Patterson was and if it takes him off the field it's a double win. Are you seriously complaining about this? Jake is a long time veteran DL of our club and league, he has a ton he can teach. That doesn't necessarily mean he will be a good coach but excluding his chances of being one based on his playing career doesn't make sense either. Look at Ryan Dinwiddie, guy was a career backup and barely at that and is a great coach. I'm willing to give him a chance, and at the same time get rid of Patterson who was god awful.
  26. Any Corhuskers fans? Jahmal Banks was signed today. Seems like an intriguing signing as he's 6-4 and was suspended by the NFL earlier this year for some reason.

I can't remember the last time I saw a team go Penthouse to Outhouse this fast. Yes they overachieved last year but still... This is wild and absolutely agree they shouldn't be this bad.

I don't mind that he chased the money, careers are short. I do mind him yelling his opinions on the panel. Dude is a big part of what's wrong with the TSN panel.

Not exactly true, most cities push their meth heads/bums to the side and away from where tourists and people hang out. Winnipeg is the exception where everywhere is unsafe downtown. Also nightlife in Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal is light years ahead in terms of quantity and quality.

Last year they won the presidents trophy. He’s prob as surprised as Chevy and Arniel. They shouldn’t be this bad.

I'm not a huge Muamba fan either for that reason. He was selfish & chased the money rather than stick with a team through it all & go for the championships. Which is his right but there was very little loyalty there. Forget loyalty to the individual clubs as they'd cut Muamba the minute his performance started to erode. But to his teammates & brothers. The one year deals allowed Muamba to change teams every year.
  34. Yes starting MLBs are just running over themselves to join the Bombers as "depth".

If you think the nightlife in Winnipeg is remotely comparable, you've clearly never been to any of those places.
  37. The DL coach was Patterson last year. He either retired or was forced to retire. Jake is now the DL coach. To me, Jake as DL coach is like Mike miller becoming a coach immediately afterwards also and last year he was our best coordinator in my opinion so there’s some hope there. Sounds like Jake is well liked and respected throughout the league, regardless of talent or lack off, he was a fine rotational piece tho but regardless of that 13 years of pro football = wealth of knowledge. Just cuz Jake wasn’t athletic enough doesn’t mean he doesn’t know things. I think he’s gonna turn out to be a very good coach for us. I get that feeling. Hogan? After listening to the O’Shea audio, I feel like he’s back because someone else was supposed to be OC but said no so they hired in house and O’Shea feels bad he set hogan up to fail. “First and foremost, it starts with me and making sure I’m holding everybody accountable to a higher standard. We just didn’t play up to our standard last year, especially on offence. It’s pretty easy to say that.” “There were certain things that were out of character for us last year that we need to come in this year and fix. I don’t think that, as you alluded to, making a change or a couple changes doesn’t fix everything. Everybody’s got to come in with a commitment to getting back to playing football the right way, playing good football and resetting the culture and that starts with me.” -Mike O’Shea The audio is interesting. Osh taking accountability for sure. If ppl haven’t listened they should and while you get the jets Chevy talk with Osh a bit, he definitely takes the blame and heat for everything last year. No specifics cuz resetting the culture means keeping things in house but I’m not sure I’ve heard a more humble O’Shea than I did in that audio.

You want a house? Start saving money, kid. You're making a million dollars US a year playing for the Rams. Limos & expensive carrying cases for your shoes won't cut it.

probably not, but he is very lucky to have a job and should be happy for that.

Teams that lose them due to poor rostering...repeatedly....thats who....and good teams always look to add to roster...continually get better...and add pieces where they may already have guys...who aren't as good....again...that's who we should be in his ear now....guy is a baller and will be 2 yrs removed now from his injury...so should be the in back to impact form...27...in his prime....versatile....a no bainer

We won some games we had no business winning. There was more of that than the team losing games they should have won. The whole year was a downer.from watching Dobson & Lawler walk, the lack of free agent signings to the putt putt putt offense we had. I've never seen a more uninspired 10-8 team as there was last season.

This is like the Giants & Jets moving from downtown New York to the Meadowlands, NJ about 20 or so miles away. It's in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Kansas City Kansas & Kansas City , MO may be two separate identities in 2 separate States so it's probably not a big deal to Chiefs fans in that way. KC is all one big city. Back in the day, before Winnipeg & the surrounding cities amalgamated in 1971, it was like the Bombers having Winnipeg Stadium in St. James but not actually in Winnipeg. It was no big deal. They weren't the St James Blue Bombers. The sad part is the NFL losing an iconic football stadium like Arrowhead.

Problem player might not have been the correct term - biggest liability is probably more suitable. My issue isn't with Jake the person, it's the player that never showed a ton of skill (even in his younger days) now being responsible for coaching up others in an area that we desperately need help. He absolutely may turn out to be a great coach but let's not act like he was some great superstar back in the day and he's just no longer the player he once was. The drop-off from prime Jake and 2025 Jake is not that severe and he was closer to his prime 7 years ago when we first tried to move on from him. The fact that he lasted 13 years is a testament to his dedication but also a damnation of our scouting/drafting.
