  1. I chuckled at a line this morning "the Als are one injury away from having Maas under centre..." It's a game the bombers SHOULD win, but as we know, this season is a total crapshoot. Hoping that we continue to improve, even if only incrementally....

  3. How soon we forget Tim Burke For as much as we might complain about the roster and O'Shea being stubbornly set in his ways, we have won a **** tonne of games and have enjoyed a fun ride these last number of years.

  5. I think 2013 was the true nadir of the bombers, the darkest moment before the dawn of the present age. Reinbold's teams were terrible, but they has spirit and Milt Stegall played out of his mind in 1997. 1600 yards with Chris Vargas and Kevin McDougall as your quarterbacks. Unbelievable. There were a couple of fun Kelly games too -- Fred Reid's big outing in BC plus that home game where Michael Bishop passed for like 450 yards. bomb after bomb after bomb. 2013 had no such moments. 2013 was just unrelenting ****.

  9. Well these are a bunch of s****y memories you guys are digging up on game day. I hope tonight does not resemble those dark times in any way shape or form! 😂 Talking about Tim Burke as HC instantly brings back memories of Jason Boltus - easily the worst performance I've seen from a "pro" QB live.

  10. how the hell is Shawn Lemon still in the league? I hate how TSN won't even bring up that the dude was suspended for gambling on CFL games. Sports is in so deep with the gambling biz, it's ******* vile. Ok, bitching aside, go bombers!

  11. Let’s go! Just win baby. Get to 6-4 and then we have three huge games against the Riders coming up so there’s still a chance to win the west. But it starts here. I’d feel better going into Labour Day at 6-4 then sitting at .500

  16. Keys to the game, Remember the Run. Haven't had a dominant run game in a long time this year. Especially with logan back in, we have to run the offence through the run game. Any given back up, gotta beat em. We've seen just about every back up qb tear us up over the years. Gotta take advantage of the als missing qb1 and let the D feast. The replacements, gotta succeed. Lots of change this year in the secondary, ol, wr, and rb/back up. Aside from vaval as a KR, we haven't found that great next guy up this year. We could really use that, but barring that we atleast gotta have guys step up to be stalwarts for us. Players to watch, Wallace, rando, Logan, WJ (quiet out side of his big game this year) the wrs with schoen back practicing hopefully it motivates guys to step up, and the secondary. Any of em could be victims to brutal calls again, but we have a more talented group than we started the year with. A younger group too, who should at some point show flashes or more than flashes even.

  17. lol...I've said it before and it's still true. Some have dug a hole so deep they've lost touch with reality. Win or lose this game, win or lose next game. etc etc on and on. MOS isn't going anywhere. Wins and Losses are important obviously. But average joe fan is buying tickets like they are going to stop selling them soon. We're approaching a record for sellouts in a row ( I believe we've tied it with the Banjo bowl now). $$$ matters A LOT. And a MOS team will be bringing in $$ for a while yet. Until that changes, MOS will be a bomber whether people like his roster setup or not.

  18. This era has been the best time to be a Bomber fan in my life. The success may soon be coming to an end (plenty of season left to see) but history will remember this time fondly. Ironically feel like the fan complaining has stayed the same, despite the huge change in success from those horrible regimes to this excellent one.

  19. In hindsight that 2011 team was completely overrated. Lost back to back games against the 2-7 Saskatchewan Roughriders, finished the season 10-8 after starting the season 7-2 or 8-4. A lot of playmakers on D but still allowed nearly 25 points a game. Offence was average at best. It just gets remembered more fondly because of how bad our team was before and afterwards. Fun season for sure but not even in the same league as any of the Bomber teams from 2016 onwards.

  20. Tim Burke gets more leash because he was an incredible DC and was really the only reason we had Swaggerville in 2011...

No. It is not a disconnect, Shay/Smith are both capable of playing the WIL LBer spot in the future. Smith could even potentially be a S. What JBR is getting at is that there just aren't a ton of reps available that would be particularly suitable for rookies because our only consistent true LBer on the field is at MIKE and you don't throw rookies into the fray there until they are good and ready. WIL already is a very diminished role in our D, and you use your starter when it is only 40-50% of all defensive reps. I know that everyone here is looking for reasons to dump on MOS, but we need to do better than grasp at straws. We are a 5-4 team, there's a lot to dislike right now and we are grousing over rookie play time, and the 51-53 spots of the roster. Why? Because it makes minor decisions seem a lot more major than what they are. If we want to talk coaching we have problems for sure, a lot of it is our coordinators.

  29. I was there too ... it would be easy not to follow the bombers and after 2013 habit was nearly gone ... but then they hired O'Shea. Had been a fan of his since his rookie year with the TiCats. That dude was pure game at his peak. Plays that went his way were simply ended, and he could go sideline to sideline. Was so geeked in 2014 and when Nichols arrived and we turned the corner in 2016 I knew I'd be a fan for the rest of my life.

  30. I'm most interested in seeing Logan as a tailback. Brady's taking a pounding this year and having someone who could spell him would be awesome.

  31. The big thing with Swaggerville was generating turnovers. But on the other side of ball, the O was mostly anemic. I remember them beating the Argos 13 - 12, with something like half a dozen turnovers from the D.

  32. I think it's more about guys that have earned his and Youngers trust at this point. Now I know you're going to say "well they can't earn trust if they don't play!" but my personal belief right now is that Osh has guys he trusts to get the job done and that's why he's so loyal to certain ones.

  33. Yeah Jim Daley was a real low point which is why despite O'Shea's flaws I've still got time for him because he won't get down to that level.

  34. I think that was more than one game... They were in for a a few games. I believe that's the time when we basically had no DC, and Doug Brown said they were playing sandlot and making it up on the field.

  35. I just really hope our D can create pressure and the secondary doesn’t give a massive cushion. I can’t stand watching us allow an inexperienced QB sit back and get comfortable making easy throws.

  38. Part of maintaining a good roster is knowing when to turn over certain roles, and this team is bad at it. They did too little too late and wasted a couple development years clinging to rapidly aging stars while not having appropriate backups seasoning behind them.

  40. I think the injury may have happened a play or two earlier. That ferocious Jake Thomas pass rush that we all know & love (which Brown was lucky to avoid while scrambling for his life) must have caused some major knee damage that just wasn't immediately apparent. 😂

Then why did we draft those two guys if we can't play them in place of career special teams players? We're not going to win or lose games this year based on a handful of snaps for Gauthier vs. Rookies, but it might help rookies develop for the future which could help the teams ratio and overall talent level.

    The AI Thread

It will replace a lot. Things like movie scores, commercials and places where the song isn’t front and center. For some pop music, this has almost already been happening with the formulaic writers. Just won’t need those humans. I think what this does do is put a premium on authentic musicians and live performances. I haven’t yet seen AI put emotion and lived experience into songs. And the more it generates and can flood the market, I think the more people will crave human created content.

  45. Depending on opponent and what they do, we play about 40-60% of the time on D with one LB out there since we've went to more 40 fronts...and it's usually Jones...then Jones and Wilson when we have 2 out with the dime subbing out. I don't count SAM as a LB.
    2 points
  46. So I think with guys like our rookie lb draftees... is that we are also using a bunch of American linebackers as special teams depth and the first in line backups. It's just too many linebackers and if we drafted these guys with a mind to having them become starters then what purpose does blocking them with Americans do? They should be the primary backups.

  47. This need to roster a team of STers to go with the Offensive team and Defensive Team needs to stop. And before anybody says it, STs is not 1/3 of the game if you count the reps. Offense and Defense will have somewhere between 50-60 reps each per game and STs is usually about 20.

  48. Good to see Logan draw in but all of Schmekel, Lawson and Thomas on the game day roster? I also don't get dropping Jones in favour of Weitz.
