If Packers like him but Carney & Trump don't get a trade deal this week, then Packers might have to pay an extra 35% tariff on Elgersma's contract (since he is imported from Canada) of $294,350 So that could be a factor as to whether they keep him around.

  5. It's pretty obvious how deployment of our defensive players has changed in the past two years. The change was Younger taking over. It's more DB's, fewer DL. He doesn't use the Canadian/Global/DI depth guys nearly as much. Most plays we have 7 DB's on the field. I'm counting Kramdi and Griffin as DB's. Griffin is basically a starter to me, even if he's not listed first at any position on depth chart. He plays more than Wilson or Adams. Jefferson is an every down player under Younger. Never was under Hall. O'Shea has been the head coach the whole time. The only thing I think O'Shea has done this year is given Miller more choice on guys he wants on for cover teams. In past years they probably would have put a guy like Cobb on over one of the LB/DB types to give the offense more depth. IMO the bigger issue is likely O'Shea not pulling a bit of autonomy from the coordinators when things are going south than the opposite.

  6. This is an online forum, for a cfl team, that dates back some 20 years, filled with a bunch of middle aged and older posters. I don’t think any one is confusing posters here with the average fan, on fb or rum hut bro. Never satisfied? You don’t have to go back far to find out that’s not true. Not sure what you’re on about, what kind of business has some one giving 1 star restaurant reviews? Take a look at the training camp media reporting and none bomber media in this city. It’s been close minded positivity and fluff pieces for years, and it’s on the verge of death. Puffed up unrealistic “review” content like that or 3dn/tsn pandering to markets erodes credibility. But if that’s what you want, you can find it. No one is expecting firings to happen in some short period of time. We all know the reality of the situation with the mafia. Changes, and accountability mid season are what people are talking about and hoping for. How do you think the 31k feel when they show up expecting the dynasty bombers to show up, and instead sit through us getting blown out? How long until those more casual fans turn on the team and stop showing up? you don’t want to get $h!7 on, but you get what you give bud. Do you legitimately think it’s better/less annoying to complain about people complaining while not actually contributing to discussion? Are you really fatigued by people saying these things, or is it that it keeps being true? Realistic expectations, when you’re talking about a hc/gm thatve been in the same job for 10+ years, and lost back to back championship games, the reality is we are near the of this mafia run. Some parts of it will continue, but some will not. The least probably out come is we go into next year with the same power structure top to bottom. Especially with the heavy reality of the front office cap, and the amount of younger guys we’ve lost to the league. Look at how much of the architects of 19/21 are already gone. You seem to think that the downward turn and reduced levels of on field success is some how sustainable. A second year with a bad start and losing streak, 3 missed championship opportunities, these things are compiling and leading us to change. It’s only a matter of how extensive and when. Personally, I think Wade will retire with in a couple years. And I think one of Walters/mos will be gone in the off season, likely Walters.

  7. That's kind of where the league is though. Terrible QB play and development. Brown vs Collaros gave two distinct paths, but look at Ottawa. Brown is turning out to be their Drew Willy. He's been healthy less than Collaros. Matt Shiltz has started games for 4 different CFL teams since the 2020 shutdown. Hamilton and Sask are resurgent on guys who are pushing 40 who haven't been healthy or consistent since before 2020. Montreal rolled with the guy who can't play a quarter without aggravating his hamstring. Great player, but is he going to be the guy who can only play 10-12 games a season like Dickenson? Edmonton pushed all-in on Ford who is nowhere near ready, if he ever could be with his arm. BC is paying Rourke an amount he could probably never out play. Calgary is on the up slope of the VAJ rollercoaster. The only way to make sure you have a basic floor level of QB play in this league is to sign MBT.

  9. First, I'm not shitting on you. Some fans pay more attention to the team, that's just how it is. But one thing is certain: if performances like those we saw this past Saturday keep happening, the casual fans will vote with their feet. It has happened before, it will happen again. I remember attending a game at the end of 2014. Attendance was poor, and everyone but the die hards was there for the beer. The game consisted of watching Henry Burris and Co. shred our secondary. There have been some major warning signs. I mean, losing a Grey Cup to Nick Arbuckle - that's quite glaring if you stop to think about it.

This is where the Brown vs. Collaros argument kind of falls apart from me. Yes Collaros was showing signs of slowing down, and yes Brown looked very promising in spot duty when he was here... but I'm not sure ANYONE in football would move on from a QB who was just off back-to-back MOP seasons, and the season we are talking about moving on from he was probably 3rd in the voting that year, and if the Argonauts don't go 16-2 is definitely the All-CFL QB... for someone who hasn't exactly lit the league on fire since he left. I also want to take this moment to throw some shade at MBT... of all the QBs in the league, he is the only one who hasn't completed a pass (to his team) 20+ yards past the line of scrimmage.

Idc what league it is, you ride the QB talent. If that Qb becomes a younger guy, you move to him. Imagine if the Pats went back to bledsoe and jetisoned brady.

  14. Doesn't matter what the majority think and nobody wants the team to be bad, quite the opposite, we want to continue kicking ass and taking names. But some people see the sink into mediocrity happening and saw it earlier.

  15. Snafu, we kept bridges because he was pencilled in as the starter going into camp. Only mos’ pencil drips pen ink and still shows through considerable amounts of white out. Db was a tough battle at camp. Gowan could’ve been a pr guy for a while and I wouldn’t be stunned if he was in camp next year. A ton of guys performed well at db, other than bridges lol. Out back up and cut defence might’ve been better than our first month starters. If not it would’ve been pretty close.

  16. My only real issue with Kramdi is his salary and big play making ability. He just doesn't make the big play, like ever. He's solid. But I want a dominate Sam in there, not someone who is just not going to screw up that much.

Would love to see Corcoran get more reps... All he does is make plays and catch the ball. What might be interesting is that Logan is close to being back so this might be a good time for him to get in there, return kicks and be a gadget guy... I don't give a **** what the roster is... Just find a way to win. Any how, any way... Just win, baby. **** everything else.

  25. Before the first practice tomorrow I will predict: 1. Corcoran with the 1s. 2. Mitchell of course still not with the ones. 3. Collaros doesn't practice. MOS comments that vets don't need to practice. 4. Bridges remains with the ones. 5. Vaval still the returner.

  26. With Kramdi, he can lay a good hit but 151 k if he meets all his bonuses (145k hard money) is too much. Nichols for example is a 3 time all star and he makes less.

Suitor always brought up how both lines would beat up the opposition and by the 4th quarter we wore them down and would be able to run it down their throats. He still brings this up yet this is no longer true.

  32. Become President & GM? That would be a monumental task. I think a new title would be needed for Wade. Something like, Team President & Director of Football Operations. I think if Walters did leave that the job of GM would fall to Danny McManus. If not living here in the off season is part of the arrangement. Would that even work? Twelve seasons with no change at GM & Head Coach is an eternity in pro sports. I think something has to give.

  33. I think most casual and semi casual fans would rather their team be bad than mediocre. In the nba the teams in the worst spot, are the ones in the middle of the none play off pack. Most people perceive the come back from bad, to be easier and shorter than from mediocre. IMO, in football, if you don’t have the franchise qb, you’re in the same boat as the rest who don’t. And you don’t need a tank or tear down year to turn it around. Calgary this year and Toronto proved that. I don’t think posters on here want us to lose, I do think a lot of people have low expectations. Until we make better decisions, mine are low.

SAM should be one of your best....if not best all around LB/DB's....impactful and uber athletic...Kramdi is none the above...solid player in a role and depth...But as a starter....we can do wayyyy better for a smaller pricetag Same can be said for MLB...T.Jones in same boat as Kramdi...that good depth tole guy but not the everydown starter...too many holes tho he likely isnt making a lot....which doesn't really make it better tho thats what is hurting us...there is a difference between depth of roster....and depth of ability We employ too many guys that basically are just used for special teams, and target them as such...as opposed to guys who can actuallyb play but due to actual depth...cant push out an established guy and are relagated to ST's...theres a big difference in that We have to change the way we go about rostering as it seems if a guy we seem to think isnt good enough to win a spot over an established guy...or older vet...we basically jut cut bait or let them waste on the PR because we are fine with our ST plugs who only fill that role...part of that problem is our draft philosophy....and our bias toward vets and long tenured guys

So old qb not playing to the level he was... old OL which is crap compared to it's hey day and dl which is crap compared to its hey day.... so yes age is catching up to this team. Used to win by dominating the lines of scrimmage but now they get their asses kicked on the LOS game in game out.

Can you ask the dear leader why some these young guys get zero reps?....and how does he determine that they are either not good enough...or surprise surprise good enough without actually seeing then outside of running scout or skelly in practice? Please 😁 so....what dos that say about the guys we choose to keep in first place...and what kind of message does that give the guys who been here since day one busting their butts?.....after all...they are all starters and all Maybe bring back a receiver...seeing as thats the player who went doen with injury, and basically our weakest position on the team...there'sa thought

Status on Collaros.....aged and in serious decline....and have to think now is dealing with an ongoing injury issue I think stemming from that Edm game...and hasnt really been 100 percent fixed...if ever will. I also pretty sure we (the team) are/were very aware of it and the fact they have done nothing really to either put the actual work/time/packages/reps together to develop a guy already here....or make a move to get a possible heir apparent is an utter failure all around...with multiple people to blame for it, and the fact we actually had the poor judgement to re-up him before he even stepped on field this yr, let alone took a snap in an actual game has to be one of the most bone headed moves in decades.... Incompetence all around, and not sure the dynamics of what going on and who's word holds the most say, but to me I think the bit of success the team had was attributed way too much to Osh and with that somehow he gained more control of the who and how we go about player signings and FA targets, or has totally taken over....I am certain Walter's hasn't gotten real stupid overnight, moreso has forgotten he is the Boss and actually has a set of plumbs dangling between his legs and needs to take control back...or get out of the way and we get someone else in who will Honestly tho...I think after the yr is thru we move on with Osh, and get a new fresh guy in their who knows talent and x' and o's and keep moving forward...For most part players coming in now....new to league....or just new to team don't know Osh from spit...and have no allegiance to him or this fascination he is the be all end all.... Thats the Status of Collaros...and squad

O'Shea has repeatedly and obviously proven himself to be rigid in opposing productive change. He and possibly Walters as an enabler are the obstacles to a rapid turnaround. My read of O'Shea's personality is that he will not accede to change and if ordered to make the needed changes, he will resist and/or quit. If Walters refuses to give him an ultimatum, we may have a two-for-one transaction as I don't think Wade Miller will put up with that.
