  1. Went to practice this morning. Nothing ground breaking to report. Thought the running back 36, smaller American guy looked solid. Really effective blocker in the one on ones. Imo play of the day was made by Corcorcan(can't remember how to spell his name, but the wr they drafted this year). He is slow...there's no doubt about it. But he went up and made a great play on an under thrown ball that should have been intercepted. Schoen looked like himself out there. No brace on. No lack of speed etc. Routes were as sharp as ever. Talked to him after the practice and he said he was feeling great and anxious to get back out there. He was great with my son too. Talked to him a bit and gave an autograph. Sergio is the man...he came right up to my boy (who was wearing his schoen jersey) and talked a bit, then said he'd introduce him to Schoen after practice. Which he did. Needless to say, we had a great morning!

  2. It would be interesting to know what determines playing one guy over another from the mind of O'Shea. I can understand character issues if you have self destructive guy who can be a cancer for a locker room for which his athletic / gameday ability is great but the overall value afterwards isn't worth it. I can't imagine over the last many years that we brought in guys who fit that negative criteria for which we dress a Navy Seal with D- level skills over numerous players who clearly have a much better upside.

  3. I agree there comes a point where talent has to win out. There is a balance though just look at the Maple leafs, they had talent but as a team they lacked the willingness to go to battle for each other. This year I hope that players like Cam Allen at safety and Gowan at corner get a legitimate shot at starter positions. Bridges might be ok but hes not gonna replace Ford

  4. At least we get spared clips of camp tippy toes…. Year after year there are at least one or two vids of Kola getting absolutely destroyed by a DT. Last year it was either Adams or Woods making him look stupid. Just saw a clip of #94, Adams again - put Kola on roller skates. Just insane that the team doesn’t see any need to upgrade center.

  5. Particularly liked that little Choquette kid...Ripped off a nice td run and he can also catch in traffic...Only preseason but we should keep an eye on that guy for sure.....

  7. Nobody looked good in the return dept. last year ...We need to stop screwing around with the returner position...Why the hell we ever parted ways with Grant still boggles my mind....Whitehead showed **** all last year and there was literally nobody behind him...Preseason better show we've turned up a decent prospect OR Case shows he belongs...Tired of watching a guy field a punt and literally fall down...disheartening to say the least ...We can't give up field position continually and be successful.....Here's hopin we 'find' OR have found the guy

  8. I'm not ready to rule out Case entirely just yet....he showed a couple small flashes, he has what many, many players never get an extended look and opportunity....not anointing him the next great returner, but after a year on and off the roster last year to develop and learn the nuances and an offseason he now has the opportunity to prove he took it all in and has the ability and mindset to show he grew and improved and can do the job....many guys never get that shot, he is one of the lucky few, maybe he takes this opportunity and shines.....

  9. Adams was never hurt....Woods got dinged but when have we not played dinged players? 🤔 I guess you need to be an Osh fav to get that privilege. I know for a fact Parker was ready to go well over a month before they "claimed" he was ready....and he was none to pleased about being parked too Like center on the oline....you need a legit Nose....dt...3 tech...what have you for the others to be able to eat....and we choose to for 80% of reps play scrubs like Thomas and Schmeck...sometimes both at ame damn time...and well...you see how succesful our dline has been...particularly the last 2 yrs I dont care who is on the dline...Candian...American...Chinese...hell an alien from the moon for all I care as long as they earned it in legit battle in TC and can maintain it for the season ...and if someone shows better in practice as the yr progresses...well then insert away...Thats how it used to be in football from my experience...this handing of jibs to guys just cause...or because they been here a while...or they have some attribute Osh think's that awards them the job even tho they notthe best candidate needs to go

  12. Fair, great vision thank you love me some MOS but much more complex in terms of how that vision translates into behaviours, actions, decisions, reality. To defend @Booch at bit here, whom btw I don't agree on everything he posts here (love you brother), I don't think he has ever said drop players as soon as better talent arrives on the scene, not caring about creating order, discipline, continuity, or peaceful camaraderie. You present this in an very extreme black and white manner. There's lots of grey here and room for varying interpretation in how said vision is achieve. In fact, I don't think many of us here on Morning Big Blue think like this extreme or, as you say, emulate wanting Chris Jones way of doing business here in Bomberland. I know you and some others get tired of hearing names like Jake Thomas come up over and over again but as long as decisions are being made to keep putting players like him (I love what JT has done for us) on the field, reality tells us it is not to the betterment of the team and does not correlate well with certain parts of said vision.

  15. The Stamps had 3 new kick returners in the game yesterday who looked deadly dangerous, Horton, Vaughn and Choquette, all small stature speedsters who might not make it as receivers, but they could make their mark in the CFL as returners if nothing else. They can't keep them all, grab one upon release and stash him on the PR to backup Logan who is frequently enough injured.

  16. Yup. Not re-signing Grant was a rare blunder on Walters' part.

  17. You have to have a returner that occasionally flips the field for you. PRing for an average 7.3 ypr is all nice and fine but I'll take 6 returns of 0 with a 7th of 50 yards over 7 of 7.3.

  18. I want a guy returning who is a threat to rip off a big return or long TD every play. We didn't have that last year and If Logan is out, not sure we have that again.

  19. One can hope I guess...Just dont see it in him...cant learn and automatically come up with explosion and ability ....with all the players out there....pretty sure we could find 10 guys with a better skillset than Case...and as a reciever...we already have enough Smurf types...Settling again....see no point to it...But if he rips off some big returns in pre-season....takes one to the house....or appears to be a threat to in more of his returns, than not....and shows ability to break away from the pack or out run coverage...will change my opinion, but he showed none of that last yr...tbd I guess

  20. Just because a player is a vet...or been here a few yrs....doesnt make them better....or the best option....or higher potential....and in the end make you a better squad and more well rounded...we have gotten away from thtt here....some the intangibles shouldn't trump talent We have enough vets and leaders....and according to all the culture/character in place to easily bring on new....younger...hungrier guys with zero issues....saying other wise is false And as this regime claims they "only" bring in a certain kinda guy to fit said culture...so makes even more reason to play the best over the weak sisters, as should be a perfect fit One lil tidbit one if was listening from Danny Mac...was his comment about trying to find a player that Osh "will play" That is a pretty good indicator that at times a player is played on an Osh like's for whatever reason, rather than most talented. W e have seen that in spades with him so not a stretch by any means.

  21. Guy last yr had a better leg last yr too....huge hang time....out punted Punter guy every practice i went to until his eventualrelease....But...Osh just loved the weird guy we kept and thought it was cool...special...good???...who knows but thats all that mattered and we ended up with the worst punter in league due to it and consistancy and placement we didnt get, and we just kept rying to make it work...Just cause Osg says so...doesnt make it right or true....see Donald Trump Be nice to have the leg to lick yourself out of danger too tho....and any coach who dosnt like hangtime combined with placement is...well a fool hopefully we unearth someone because we all know if logan isnt ready Cody Case will be gifted the job....as returner/extra receiver and he is a big nothing burger and really offers us nothing other than a middling average player

  23. They do want hang time, they don’t thing highly of deep punts. Accuracy and control are foremost. Then hang time. Depth/leg power is pretty much last.

  24. Give him a body guard so no rookie dbs make a terrible mistake

  25. Qft. likely has to be able to out angle sheahan and have the depth control to optimize for shorter punts. From the bit I’ve seen it’d be an easy decision based on the frequent shanks we saw last year. At the same time, with the incredible talent in Evans leg combined with having just turned 24 and just strived up here, he should at worst be guaranteed a pr spot for a while.

  30. His vision of how a team should perform and behave, the fact he embraced a Navy Seal on principal should be an indication of the character he prizes in individuals, he wants unselfish players that will make sacrifices for the betterment of the team.

  31. Case is not a rookie and showed little last year. As a sophomore, he ought to be well ahead of anyone else competing for the job, or he is not a keeper.

  34. I am thinking the problems last year were more related to the rest of the unit more than the returners.

  35. I guess if you want to take Danny Mac's comments out of context then you may have a point. Every recruiter on every team has the challenge of finding players that fit the coaching scheme. You are making a benign comment by a scout into something much more than what it was to try and further your agenda. Of course, our recruiters are going to try find players that fit our culture, it is by far the single biggest reason for our success over recent years. If not for that we are the Riders.

Stars owner is actually Canadian. On this episode, the boys are joined by Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi. With a net worth of approximately $3.92 billion(sheesh), he's one of the richest people in Canada, yet down to earth and loves to talk hockey as much as we do chipman don’t have a plane. Thompson probably don’t know Scheifele exists.

Classy move by Dallas owner, wondering why Canada's richest man couldn't have also offered this to Scheifele, given he's an owner of the team.
