  1. Think of the baseball league the Goldeyes play in. Would be like that. Pay guys $750-$1000 per game for 6 games. The real draw is the ability to get film and for the teams to get a better look at guys who are those 5th-8th round picks, undrafted. Keep them active so there is a pool of guys ready to go. Also coach development. If they played early enough could even get some coaches out who are working with U Sports programs. Probably $3-$4 million a year to run the whole thing. Use it to engage some markets that aren't close to CFL teams. Partner with U Sports for facilities (keep in mind for Atlantic there's club football and nice facilities for that too Halifax, Fredericton, Moncton).

  5. There are not many teams who would have won this game, minus 2 players of that calibre. Absolute blood and guts effort. Double overtime with 5 D, against a hard hitting group of forwards.

  6. I literally cannot believe what I just witnessed. What a comeback. I was bitching about someone not stepping up and then there is Cole Perfetti. Now let's hope and pray that JoMo and Scheifs are ok.

  9. It is. I don’t think it’d be financially viable to have these guys playing all over. I think it’d have to atleast start out as a south Ontario to qubec thing. With in a 4 hour ish drive radius you have a ton of infrastructure. It you send kids there who aren’t gonna be in the cfl, give them a chance to make it and 25-35k, you’ll scoop up a huge portion of the guys who fall out of the league. I might add globals as well. Say a limit of 5 globals and 5 Americans per team.

  26. Solid pick...gonna pan out to be the best pick in my opinion...he's perfectly suited for what we wanna do here and is multi-use...A Canadian version of what Cole did for us without the DA tag...so hopefully it enables us to bulk up that damn dline with 3 solid interior guys...the Global guy as well if he is what many think will also allow us to use a DA elsewhere....no reason Woods..Adams...hopefully Person and or any newbie who flies off the page in camp cant all be rostered, Gimme a WJ/Vauters/Lawson/Woods/Adams/Person/Bailey rotation anyday....and if another rookie makes a case to be on roster then even better....I know they think Jake is this perennial stud...but we have no need and really no room/use...If they want to roster a second National DT....To insert him over even Schmeck or another promising rookie is just foolish and a waste...You dont sacrifice youth and upside for an old vet who lost his usefulness 3 yrs ago already....just plain dumb We have Kramdi..Makonzo...Shay..Smith...Kelly...Hallett...Hagerty....pretty sure we have the ability to put any 2 of those guys on the field at any given yime in lieu of a DT to make ratio if we choose to play 2 on defence...youth...athleticism and ability should trump loyalty to old dead weight

  27. Wow - all of these old Winnipeg coaches sending love to the Jets - Bones on the post game yesterday claiming that he's all Jets fan even despite coaching elsewhere, and last year after winning the Cup PaMa saying that his biggest wish is for the Jets to win a Stanley Cup. Wonder if we face the Panthers in the finals if he'll still feel that way? LOL

  28. The CFL hasn't the money to sponsor a flag football league for kids. Let alone a development league for first & second year Canadian CFL players. How would the league get the money for something like this? The start up costs even for something as simple as this would still be very, very high. Then the salaries for players, coaches, training staff. medical staff, travel costs, hotels, lodgings. It just would be too expensive. The Bombers made 7 million so they're fine. They could afford it but probably aren't interested in throwing away a million or more on this. Owner Amar Doman already overspends big time to get fannies into BC Place with celebrity concerts. Especially that first regular season home game. I can't see Doman wanting any part of this. The Stamps & Elks lost tens of millions between them. The Stamps owner won't even spring for an enclosed practice field or decent workout facilities for his players. The Stamps never had hot food last year for the players. Edwards is a cheap bastard. He won't finance anything out of his pocket. He'd never get on board where the Stamps have to spend a signiciant amount on developing players. Can't comment on the Elks with new ownership. I'd think that the new guy has other things more important to think about. Riders are losing money or might be slightly breaking even. They've lost 10,000 season ticket holders since Covid. I'd think they'd not be interested. I can't see MLSE want to be a part of this. Funding a Canadian developmental league to benefit the Argos doesn't fit their brand. The Als are running on a fine line to profitability. One badly attended game of less than 18,000 might break that profitability. Can't see them wanting to get involved. Hamilton has the money. Ottawa maybe. They both could probably do it along with Winnipeg. But again, I just can't see any team wanting to go forward. However, collectively as a league, I don't believe the BOG's would approve it. There is no will to do this.

  30. FIFY. 😁 Games like last night are why I love sports. Threads like this are why I hate sports fans Now I am picking on @captaincanuck12 but I will say to your credit you have been here all year, win or lose, and even if you have thrown in the towel the odd time you speak as a fan who wears their heart on their sleeve and will always come back with hope for the next game. Your negativity is borne of frustration in the moment, but you don’t quit on this team in the big picture. You are good to have around and are ultimately a loyal supporter, no doubt. What drives me nuts are those “fans” who were silent all year when this team marched to the President’s Trophy, and then crawled out of the woodwork after game 4 to remind how lousy this team has always been when the chips are down, how Hellebuyck is a fraud, how Cheveldayoff must be fired, etc. and then constantly disappear and are quiet when the team wins and proves them wrong for the 60th time this year, just waiting for their next chance to say “see I told you they suck” at the next moment of adversity. It’s beyond feeling upset and negative in the moment, it’s like they can’t be happy unless they get to feel validated moaning and bitching about how useless the team is. I will never get those who seem to want to be perpetually angry and prefer to tell everyone “I told you so” if the team doesn’t win it all, which given the pure mathematical stats of it is about as safe a bet as you can make (31 out of 32 teams fail every year). The old adage is true - “sports is not there to make you happy, sports is there for you to be miserable in a large group”. I just don’t get the appeal of watching and acting like you hope they lose so that you have the opportunity to complain about how lousy they perpetually are and validate your negativity to the public at large. Why watch at all? Tough way to go through life. Now, the Jets may crash and burn in 4 straight next series, and it won’t change what’s great season this has been, how hard they have worked, and what entertainment they have brought us all year. Their achievement should be celebrated, not maligned. Rant over. See you in Round 2. P.S. It was never in doubt, says this Jets fan. 😉

  31. Fun fact. St. Louis was the best team in the league for the last 25 percent of the season. We beat them without 55 and 44. That’s wild.

  37. Sure but. Are we even gonna get 10 shots? At this point? No. They haven’t even threatened to score yet. St. Louis does every shot. Jets look slow. I’m not sure they get 1 tonight. But…. I believe Colorado was winning 2 0 in the 3rd last night and lost 4 2. Who is our Rantanen. Unfortunately it’s Scheifele Ehlers needs to step up or this could be his last game as a Jet.

  40. 100% over due. I think you could run it out of a satellite market like the xfl did for a while. Ontario probably gives you the most places to play and teams to pull support from. Though for greedy reasons I’d want it in the parties. You could run a spring league of 5-6 games then run an in season league of say 8 games. that way you have every one available for cfl tcs, you scoop all the cut kids, and if any take big steps they are available mid season for teams that need injury replacements.

  41. Time for a CFL minor league. Stick it in the Atlantic. Have 4-6 teams. There's another 200 players developing. Guarantee you can convince that many guys to play for a few years to stay active for a chance coming out of U Sports and CJFL. Develop Canadian players, let the QB's you want to develop get live reps.

  43. Yup. People forget he was a db in the NFL for 4 years. He played special teams for ott. He had like 150 tackles in the NFL. Guy was a blood n guts gritty tough football player. And to meet him as a person, humble down to earth smart and classy. lol we can hate the player and love the guy. Just like blm.

  44. I love the idea and we usually get some thing similar but a bit more fluffy from Tait here. If the league put it self out there more and gave fans all the stuff they don’t want to share, they would create a huge vacuum for the target demographic. I know no team would want to be that open, but if they want to break the norm it will take great discomfort. I’m not talking about teams bad mouthing players they don’t like, but being open about what they do like about who they like. Competitively, it comes to pass fairly quickly after the draft that each team knows who the other teams liked. And it doesn’t really matter at that point any way.
