I don't know why we keep having this discussion... 2019 Matt Nichols was outstanding until he got blindside pancaked after the whistle. We were 6-2 under him and he gets hurt in the 7th win in Week 10 which put us at 7-2. He was having an incredible season before he got hurt. Also... This man continues to be absolute loony tunes.

Thomas will get big time reps again because Osh just thinks he's great and thats that Even with Lawson back,,,,it won't change Thomas out snapped him as well in 2023....and even tho everytime he got reps he just made playsandr caused issues to allow others to make plays but he got parked behind Thomas...why would Osh change...he is allergic to change anything especially if it is one of his favorites Based on who we have prioritized this winter already, I will be shocked if Biggie is not signed again...Vet Canadians require bigger bucks.....it's a matter of where you decide to put those vets and what bang for buck they will give you. Maybe if a Canadian went down we could utilize the nationalized American like all other teams do instead of running out a sub par Canadian.. there's a thought I never been a Schmeck pumper but he offers more than Thomas by leaps and bounds...and depth wise...we are same as any other team nationally really...is what it is in the cfl if multiple guys go down. Fact of matter we don't need to rely on a Canadian at DT other than rotational use..Lawson...and Schmeck cover you there...Kramdi is a lock at SAM and Kelley should be the safety in my opinion...Not hallett ...unless we decide to an import there and we do have options for that Any given snap we need one of Lawson or Kramdi....that's it..one gets hurt we still covered...and if we go Canadian at safety even better...Thomas is not required...draft a guy with upside and roster him like they did Thomas many moons ago

Kelly and Wallace both showed last year they have starters upside or could start in a pinch and you seem to think Jake can. Jake was fine in 2019 but that's six years ago. Now he's taken up SMS $ that could be allocated elsewhere, a roster spot that could be used elsewhere. At a certain point you need to move on. If Winnipeg didn't sign him, nobody in the CFL does.

we dont need to sign another canadian dlineman tho...we already had 3 under contract...aswell as a global....likely draft one at minimum....and again no need really to have to always have one on the field...so that signing at over 100k easily....prob closer to 120...130....is a big why? Thomas had more tackles in likely 3x the reps....and a lot of Thomas tackles were basically a play that ran right into him...not from some extraordinary effort or play....Take whatever they pad him...where would that amount be more well served...retaining Dobson....saved for monies to go to Ford....a good portion of say Ceresna/McManus.... Ford plays the easiest position in the secondary in theCFL....Not discounting his play or skill as he has it in spades....but that spot is easily filled....at cheaper if we have to. For what we pay Nichols....Kramdi which is a real head scratcher...now Holm....and just wasted money on Thomas....we can effectively kiss Ford good bye as we are not gonna invest over 500k in 4 db's....thats just SMS suicide...3 at over 130k right now is a bad allotment....considering we in dire need of an impact linebacker...interior dlineman....still need to sigh Schoen and Lawler....really should be going after an elite olineman.....be it a tackle or a guard who has abilty to slide out

Same healthy Matt Nichols who got booed off the field twice at home in 19? He always played his best in the play offs, but nah captain check down on 2nd down wouldn’t have got past the riders. If he was healthy, and buck was the oc, we’d have a chance of getting to the cup.

Totally. Nichols put up some good playoff games for this team with bend and break defenses. With the D we put out in the playoffs in 2019 Nichols would have managed the hell out of a Grey cup win. That 2019 playoff D... that was goooooooooood stuff.

Right... We know that.... But since they'd already decided to go NI DT, I'm just saying that I think last year would have been primarily Lawson with only a little bit of Thomas. It didn't help that Schmeckle was not ready. I'm sincerely hopeful that Lawson is going to take the VAST majority of NI DT snaps, regardless of whether we need to go Canadian there or not...

How so? That’s the starter quality top half of the Canadians on our AR. It’s the next group of 10-12 guys that needs to improve. Our ni depth is solid upper middle tier in the cfl. Every single teams needs to improve it every single year. As much as any thing, our gc wins were based on incredible ni talent and depth. That’s extremely rare to have at such a level. We need another ni db who can cover. We need another ni de, ni wr, ni rb, and one or two Ni ol development guys. On top of that every year you need to bring in 1-2 ni teams guys to push and be the next man up as needed. Highest needs are ol, db, rb, and de imo. Yep. Imo he’s already good enough to be the average cfl ni S. A basic role player, but he’s flashed the ability to make really smart plays and the athleticism to fill bigger gaps. I really like the kid, he’s a a rich man’s hallett who is also healthy. If he can take a step forward in progress he gives us a great chance to move on from BA as a starter. (Ba would be tremendous as the dime sub db/NA)

Thomas should be the guy you bring in mid season after losing 2 - 3 guys in one game. I don't see the point of wasting time with him when even if it only taking 15% of the reps... give that play time to a young guy who may in a season or two actually produce.

If Thomas is used appropriately, I can at least get on board with him being some kind of end-of-the-bench spot duty player who sets the tone in the locker room by being a leader. The dude has 200+ games in the uniform, it’s not about him for me it’s just about his usage. I get wanting that guy as the 45th guy in uniform especially in a Grey Cup year. Americans though? Nah.

Parker is a Sam, and bonds is the other corner. We will likely be flipping a guy who’s used to playing inside, out. I don’t think we will need to start a rookie I think we will have plenty of vets with in to promote At very best. Also the D changed substantially.

So I actually read a thing on this recently... essentially other apes can engage more large muscle groups at once making them stronger... however the cost compared to home sapiens is they can't hold a pencil or as the author put it "brain someone with a rock from distance" so as crazy as he is, he's not totally wrong.

The same guys like Ed Hervey just keep getting recycled around the CFL. Why is it written in stone somewhere that Hervey was the most natural fit at GM for the Elks? Instead of trying to relive some past glories by hiring these washed up names from the past, Maybe the Elks should have concentrated on hiring the best possible people to run their team. Argos released Jon Jones, the linebacker not the drug addict UFC fighter and I’m not really sure why. He was on an upward trajectory and then just fizzled out last year. @bluto I demand answers

I hate how the CFL does its schedule. Like 9 teams In the league, 3 bye weeks, 18 regular season games, i know it can’t be perfect but every team should be able to get a bye every 6-9weeks. We play 11 games in a row between our second and last bye. Absolutely idiotic.
