Preseason is over. That means it is time to kickoff the yearly Pick 'Ems contest. How do they work? Each week you pick the winners for all CFL games. You get one point for every correct pick. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year wins a $50 gift certificate at the Bomber store. Picks will be done through the polling system. Polls close at game start of the first game of the week. I will accept picks for games that have not started yet through PMs if you are late getting them in. Week 1 kicks off Thursday with last years Grey Cup rematch . Picks need to be in by 8PM Thursday, June 8th.

Just finished fleeing the stadium, with about a thousand of my fellow attendees..... A punt return and and run from the punter, pretty well covered it. D-Line the highlight tonight......we seem to have enough pieces, for a good rotation...... Mix of good and bad in the back 7..... McGee got caught looking into the backfield....got toasted....then got a bit tentative..... Offense.......offensive. Blocking bad. Receivers looked like chickens running around. You can put "Wilson with a 4 yd in route" .......on his headstone. ....that is when he wasn't throwing it to nowhere in particular...... Why is last years punter.....still the punter? Chris Smith has a spot for now, as returner.. Buck is in love with that Jet Sweep. Next step - make it work. I waited years for this? Did they not understand I was watching? Well, one can only laugh....or cry. Had to make a choice. OK Laughing for getting excited about a Rosery 4 yard run.. Laughing while watching "Quarter Highlight packages" on the Jumbo.... Laughing while watching the Blue take a time out 17 seconds before the 3 minute warning Laughing about the official head count of 24,297

The sad thing to me is a lot of the guys showing really well for us have entirely no shot to make the team. Like WIL backer. We have a 31 year old there who's had major injuries and hasn't played preseason. We have guys making plays at all levels of the field from that spot and they have no chance to make the team. To me that's a spot I don't spend money on and I let guys like this compete, bring in fresh guys who are all over the field every couple years into that spot.

Last thing...if they nationalized Jefferson they could get another 22 snaps out of the DI's on D. Will be incredibly stupid if they don't.

I think Wilson sticks around as 3rd QB. Not really sure what else they would do at this point.

This is just the cherry on top of the let’s make training camp as pointless as possible sundae Before you all jump all over me, yeah there are guys to be excited about but this is two years in a row now we’ve just completely misused our preseason

From the 2 games so far..I'd run Fox and Adam's in tandem...no need to start a Nat there

Tough to say honestly given the views available, the heavy turn over on the ol through the game and the awful performances on O. I wouldn’t worry about him as a 6th either way. I do hope Eli is good to go soon though. It’s funny how we went from not paying jsk to marrying Kyrie. He’s had some incredible stints of high level play here but he’s JJ as a wil.

It’s unfair to the o guys when your qb is **** but to be fair, the oline was complete ****.

I'll be disappointed if we went through this whole camp and end up with McGhee starting at corner next Thursday. He doesn't look like a player.

Adam's would be the perfect guy to play inside and off the edge...we need to roster him and Fox

I thought O'Shea was trolling Booch when I saw Schmekel (and Jake Kelly) come out as captains for the coin toss.

I’d have a hard time cutting any of Gemmel, Petrishen, Thomas….even Ayers was flying around in this one both D and kick cover…before Moses. Sounds like Moses might have a big injury anyway…which has kind of been an issue for him too. Pedigree means basically nothing when we’re watching reps side by side. Most of them come from Power 5 conferences anyway. Don’t really care where a guy was ranked when he was 17. The next guys for the 2 backer spots could very well be in that group. Petrishen and Gemmel are ready to go.

I’ve pretty much got the same idea for a roster as JBR but I do think I’d take Bridges over Fuller and I’d take Moses over Gemmel

Overall there's a lot to be excited about with the team going into the season. Offensively this team was going to be good. Basically one receiver spot to fill and that's it. Defensively we had a bit more uncertainty and spots to fill. We now have so many options there for LB and DT/DE. The CB spot is the only one that I'm not confident in. We got burnt a tonne at that position. Special teams you can imagine there will be some improvement by going with some younger guys that can run. Chris Smith with a 109 yard return. Let's go.

Watching that camera work made me miss the days of blacked out games.

Somewhat frustrating as a fan going to a home game and being presented with the 3rd string team as the starters. I'll start with that. But we kind of knew that going in. Calgary was still running Peyton Logan at the end of the game. So good for you Calgary. You won 😂. O'Shea says he doesn't like to lose, but just like the first preseason game, there was almost zero chance of winning given the roster. We tried running the ball but not with a lot of success. Our o-line was not opening up much. They were almost as bad in pass pro. Wilson didn't have much of chance tonight. Sure he hopped a couple but to me it didn't look like he had a lot of opportunity to make plays. Offensively we were offensive top to bottom. But again, we had almost nothing to work with. Defensively there was a lot to like. Adams, Gemmel, Fuller stood out to me. Jake Kelly was pretty good for the time he was in there. Not sure about Demetrius Ford. Seems like you guys were seeing something but to me always ended up not making the plays. Bill Hackett stood out to me as a very speedy guy, not that he was great either. Tre Thomas, not sure if he has the ability to play SAM. I don't think he's big enough to play the more traditional LB spots

Watching a preseason game on stream makes me miss...commercials.

It's only comparable to last year if they cut all these guys who have made plays because let's be honest here, no one last season popped off the page like some of the guys have this preseason. It's night and day IMO the difference in ability between the two years. Kyle Walters and co kind of sucked last offseason.

Something cool from earlier in the game. Jake Kelly against the 1’s had a really nice breakup over the middle on Marken Michel.

The 2 guys pumped by Tait all off-season/camp (McGhee and Myron Mitchell) have sucked fwiw.

Smith at KR, Adams, Thomas, Rivers and American Ford are the new guys they’ve absolutely got to keep imo On the DL, I just hope someone’s willing to take a PR spot, some of these dudes could easily roster/start on other teams

We have serious dline talent...I'd hate to see most of it cut for the crappy obvious reason I concerned about...it's now time to switch the ratio spot on defence and go all import dline starters and main rotation...we only need 1 nat dt to accommodate a killer front 7

DL of Jefferson, Haba, Upshaw, Adams, Fox, Schmekel, Thomas would be pretty good. Hope Samson works his way in there eventually.

Adams at dt, smith at kr, Kelly at s, petrishen at lber, rivers and Upshaw at de, the whole front has been dynamite again. Kick cover much better. McGhee has looked lost at corner. Bridges and fuller good at db. Awful punting again. Horrid camera work tnite Johnson looks the best of the wrs. Grainger is talented but raw. Wilson similar to last week. Adams did a great job vs the double team closing up the inside on that Adams a great rush up the middle again. Love that disengage push and tackle by huebert

Question for me is whether any of these import receivers is worth a roster spot. Only one looking that way is Johnson so far. Could go with 3 Canadians at receiver, plus 3 OL plus Oliviera and not even need any Canadians on field on D. Of course you use those guys as role players and subs. You roster Smith as returner and backup RB, work him in on O a bit too. You roster Clercius and Murphy, you have Augustine and Chris-Ike.

Like I said .. he has that explosive speed to go to house from anywhere.. thats from in backfield too
