Pete Robertson down. couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Tre Ford looks really good. But he's going to have to learn to protect himself.

Yep. He makes so much happen with his legs. If he has any kind of leg ailment that could drastically reduce his success.

I’ll tell you what. Micah Teitz is our most outstanding player. As in he’s mostly out there, standing.

There’s always next year! Or 2025!

Lololololool.  The criders lose to the Elks.  I expect a tsunami of pathetic excuses from criderfans.com .  That is too funny.

The Elks are no joke anymore. Any team that plays them better be ready to play their best game. Or they'll lose like the Riders did.

Ford is still a better runner than a passer but combined with Brown creates a deadly duo that is difficult to defend.   Genuinely concerned for the Bombers when they play the Elks in the coming weeks.

The most dynamic running back field in the league. Nice to see those two work well.

isnt it funny how the chuds at 3dn etc aren’t all over ford for being a Canadian star qb and mop candidate for turning around the elk? I thought they loved that story and that it was what we needed in this league and country? Lol

just wanted to say good on you for sticking to your guns

Likewise @Noeller seeing the potential in Ford. He's been saying all along that Ford > Corny and EDM should give Ford a go. It's a small sample size but it looks like Ford supporters were right, he's got chops and if he can stay healthy the future is bright.

Game post-mortem:

Dolegala is the best QB the Riders have had in years. Under different/better coaching and with a decent O-line, he could be quite good. The Riders played like they already were out of the playoffs and didn't care. It's all downhill from here for the Riders from now on.

Tre Ford transforms the Elks from a pathetic team into a legitimate playoff contender. Should the Elks meet the Bombers in the playoffs, he will give the Blue all they can handle.  The Ungulates' defensive backfield is bad but their front four is pretty good and would be a challenge for the Bomber hogs.

I think the Rourke love came down to a couple of factors Ford did not have. One, being in B.C., a big market that was trying to re-build with a new owner trying innovative stuff like big pre-game concerts, so they wanted a star to build the image around. Just like Toronto with Kelly. Like it or not, the image of those markets is more important to advertisers and the league image-makers than a well-established safe market like a Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, or Edmonton, so the broadcasters will pump the tires more over a new phenom.
Second, Rourke was not just succeeding as another starter, which is rare enough for a Canadian QB, he was dominating, putting up numbers not seen since Flutie or Calvillo, two of the all-time greatest. Almost 80% completion rate, on pace for 50 TD passes and over 6,600 yards. If Ford can dominate like that, say 150 yards rushing in multiple games, then I can see the same kind of fervor over him. But right now he is turning heads, the adulation will come soon enough if he keeps it up.

Got to agree with most of the comments on the Elks and  Ford in particular. I think Edmonton is slowly but steadly building a competative team. Maybe not this year but next year if they keep the progress going they will definately be in the hunt. The Riders?? Not so much! Lots of changes needed in Rider Land at least IMHO.

Say whatever you want about the Elks but it's fantastic to have a true Canadian CIS QB succeeding in our league. There was never a doubt he was the best QB they had... their best shot at winning.

Hell, I root for any exciting young QB coming into our league, no matter the passport or team.  The CFL as a league can't prosper without good QBs.
