we all know your stance on this even though it’s been proven wrong many a time, Jaylen Smith being the most recent example. Your belief is that this falls all on Walters, based on a bunch of experience you claim to have from way back before you were a rural town hotelier or whatever it is that you do these days, is one definite stance to take and if that’s what you believe then good for you but it’s not really what connecting the dots would tell anyone who isn’t biased one way or the other. IF Walters were directly and solely responsible for these choices, we’d be saddled with a lot of expensive backups because the talent would win out regardless of cost in camp. We’d be paying Kyrie 110k to back up Ja’Kobe Clinton and the Stanley Bryant retirement tour would be spent backing up Micah Vanterpool. Gavin Cobb would be a great locker room glue guy. But the talent doesn’t win out and you can speak into existence that our GM doesn’t bring in talent all you want but maybe you want to call back to the whole reason we found ourselves staring down the barrel of dynasty-esque levels of success in the first place. We were here in this position before and SOMEONE told our coach (not our GM) to pull his head out of his ass and use the talent instead of deferring to the incumbent. That was on O’Shea then and I truly feel like it’s on him again now.

“I would say the majority of the guys in the building here aren’t struggling to put their finger on it,” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “Our process allows everybody to see the truth of where we’re at. We’re not where we want to be. “Do I think we’ve gotten closer? Absolutely. I’ve talked about it in the last few weeks — we’re down to some finite, fine fixtures, little details, honing the craft. We’re not still in that big picture mode. So, I believe the guys know exactly where we’re at — 5-5, not good enough, improving and we have a team that if we play to our potential can compete every single week to win a game.” when you read this how can you not just shake your head and laugh?? No one's struggling to figure it out...yet they haven't yet...The process allows to see the truth? are they even able to see the truth...or just ignoring it?...like wow They have been in this finite , fine fixture tweaking now for 2 yr...And what they honing besides incompetence and poor technical skills...Tackling...Catching....proper route running...Blocking...pre snap recognition (ZC pasting 2 weeks ago) was prime example of a general lack of any awareness of what's happening on the field pre-snap... 11 games in, not 2...3....and this is a vet ladened team so the b.s he is yammering about should hardly be an issue...especially 2/3rds of the way into a season Enough of the bullshit excuses and justification of poor over all play/performance. Across the board but mainly with the way this team is coached. I not gonna blame 90% of the players for this when they are poorly prepared and coached...there are a handful yes who should not be starting or taking big rotational reps, and a couple with no business being on the roster, but that small group shouldnt be the reason why we look like garbage game in and game out..small spurts of what looks like dominance, but then the team we up against see's what we do..adapt...and take it to us...aka....out coached us. That game last week where there was that jekyl and Hyde performance...was all about that...100 percent

he's said on several occasions when defending play or players that "if you look back over time you can see the success they had" to justify why they are here/and or being played as a starter. Key words "look back"....not knowing enough to look at now, or into the future, and not even distant but immediate future. Guys who were good back in time don't mean they are good enough now...but he holds fast to his beliefs. Classic example of the "can't see the forest for the tree's" totally missing the big picture while overlookingg the main points and being bogged down in the details...many of which are irrelevant

not every game actually. There were several where he barely saw field...but lotsa Kelly. The reps tho that Smith did get were excellent and better than what Wilson and Jones provided yet it took an injury to our SAM to get him actually on the field as a starter Also took 2+ yrs to finally realize Griffin was best SAM we had but we felt need to play an inferior Canadian there cause why? An Osh preference/Bias...and to be honest Kramdi is prob not our best option at safety either but got the default spot...and we dont need to be Canadian there either..But Osh chooses too...why? There is indeed a place and room for progression, especially when you aren't sorely lacking in a position with your vet...Thats fine...But there is also a place where a player is undisputably better with play and upside now...over a vet or a fav...Or the stupid bias to overload with Canadians and the "progression" is not required and thats where we fail...we good at stunting and retarding a players progression tho...

that's been my point too. I also not sure what kind of in season assessing we do, evaluate what's working and not...and adjust as needed...pretty common practice...then look at our 4th and 5th receiver numbers and ask why have they not upgraded or done anything with that...the numbers are embarrassedly pathetic...

I raced a kid (16) on the football team I coached a few years ago. I was chirping a few guys that their 40+ yr old coach could outrun them. I was an athlete back in the day and ran track so I figured I still had some speed left. Deal was I had to race a db or rec but I got to choose which one. Losing to that kid was legit one of the worst moments of my life. It was the first day of me acknowledging being an old man…

  16. to me, giving up 13 yards on 2nd and 14 is absolutely blowing a 2nd and long situation... the stats just don't show it like that... that was my point

Arguably, the bottom hasn't truly fallen out in previous years... the team has been progressively declining but they can still say "we won 10+ games every year" and "we keep making the playoffs"... a 6-7 win season would be a proper bottoming out
  18. So I guess the thesis here is statistically, the Bombers are poor in high leverage situations? Last game was bad for that stat (2nd and long conversion rate) for the Bombers, Elks were 6/11 and the Bombers were 1/7... but Football is such a low event game you are for sure going to remember the plays with the negative outcomes. Look at the 4th quarter... play #104, Fajardo gets 14 yards on 2nd and 10 to the 27, Elks are driving into the end zone after scoring 16 straight points (and the Bombers don't have a 1st down in the second half at this point); incredibly un-clutch. But wait, 3 plays later 2nd and 11 Fajardo gets flushed by the d-line and coughs up the ball, the boys locked in and came up with the clutch turnover. Bombers proceed to do nothing with it (again un-clutch but on the offense this time) and give it back to the Elks with a 2 and out and with a short field Fajardo dips and dunks it into the 30 for the go ahead field goal. Bombers finally get a first down but then Collaros arm punts it down to the 7. Short run by Rankin gets a 2nd and long and the Bombers force an incompletion 2nd and 8 to get the offense the ball back inside the 3 minute warning (again, very clutch). The Bombers burn a whole 62 seconds getting the tying field goal. Elks have 1:41 to win the game and probably the most frustrating play here is the 2nd and 3rd when Rankin catches the ball at the 40 with 4 Bombers between him and the first down, and Woodbey just goes flat footed and then Major Williams just kind of inexplicably blows up BOO (note: not the ball carrier at this point) and Rankin sneaks through all those bodies for 16 yards... and Ceresna (not one of the 4 games in the picture at the time of the catch) is the one who chases him down. And then 2nd and 10 the defense plays it pretty well and Luther catches it at the 43 (well short of the first down) and Moxey just whiffs on the tackle and instead of Blanchard kicking a 50 yard field goal (which is still inside his range) he is now kicking a 40 yarder which is much easier. If the Offense could have done almost anything more than the... 5 net yards they got after that 2 and out we are probably talking about how the defense bailed out the offense after that disaster class of a 2nd half. It's probably useful data that of the 4 games so far this season where the winning team had less than 25 points, 3 of them involved the Bombers. There is really no reason for me being argumentative about this other than I deal with Statistics quite a bit and the overall... attitude in general towards them is always quite amusing. If you want to use statistics to make the Bombers defense as currently constructed seem underrated, we can probably do that. If you want to use the same statistics to show that the Bombers beating the RedBlacks twice were the 2 games in 100 that should have happened we can probably show that as well.

Out of the CFL maybe, but it's not like he's been sitting on the couch. He's been working in player personnel in the UFL & NCAA the last 5 years so hiring him to help with scouting is probably a good fit.

Yet, if those in Bomber Nation were expecting some sort of dramatic changes when the team got back to work on Monday, be it through the transaction wire, benchings, firings or some sort of old/new formation — the Wing-T, anyone? — they would be foot-stomping angry by what unfolded at practice. And, frankly, would we expect anything different from an outfit that has long approached its struggles by simply grabbing the axe and getting back to work chopping wood again? Expect a loss...likely an ugly one. And that last sentence right there says all you need to know...what worked in the past...with a way less talented group of legit players doesn't work now...heck what worked in the past with legit players a lot of times doesn't work and you have to evolve and adapt We just refuse to...or have no ability to, or are just too stupid too...Take your pick but we aint going nowhere this yr, or making any noise.
  22. OF coursethey do...why wouldnt they...and yes invoke the snot outta it
  23. You are in luck! Going into Week 12 the Bombers opponents were 39/110 for a success rate 35.5 percent at 2nd and 7+, which was good for 3rd in the league behind Saskatchewan and BC. The 2nd and 14 you mentioned wouldnt count as a success in your stat, and the Bombers were 13/15 on 3rd and 0-2 which is 7th in the league. 35.5% is historically better than average for a defense, back to 2023. FWIW the Bombers are above average in preventing TDs in the red zone, below average in preventing TD drives overall, and exactly average at forcing 2 and outs (although they are RiGHT THERE for a 3 way tie for 3rd)

Woodbey was rough to start the year too before he got hurt. Don't think at this point he is worth playing. The fact that it was such a slog to get smith starting when he looks good at whatever position he is out at is a huge red flag that it's a bigger coaching using players than the exact players issue.

Dolly Parton is straight up the best to have ever done it in Country music and one of the best all time, any genre. In baseball they talk about the "Five Tool Player"... And she had every tool better than anyone ever had it. Songwriter, Musician, Vocalist, Entertainer, Businesswoman... She did it all and better than anyone else. I don't know that we'll ever see anyone with all the gifts ever again. Country music is an intensely misogynistic genre, so people will say "best female, maybe..." and not want to categorize her with Haggard, Jones, Hank Sr, etc.... but she was so much more, so much better. And she did it all at a time where nobody wanted a woman to do it. Just an absolutely gutting loss for the entire entertainment industry. This is some of her recent work that was STILL miles better than her contemporaries...

Watching Oleary Orange go up and make that catch in double coverage after watching Cobb flail away against Ottawa, was sad. You think a guy who sits on the bench/PR all year and watch Cobb or any number of other less talented players or even just guys who don't get the job done will want to re-sign with team? You can blame Walters, but again...signing players is a two way street. The players have to want to be here too. And if they feel like they won't get the chance to prove themselves because of a head coach....why would they stay?

Who offers the contract? Who gets them to sign it. I have not met many coaches who will put a warrior down, it is almost exclusively the job of the GM to not offer new contracts when a player expires. It is not only his job it is necessary so that the coach can save face with the dressing room. Somewhere along the line a lot of people here have given Walters a free pass for not having the wherewithal to do a big part of the job he is paid to do. Go around the league and ask any HC if he doesn't want a vet in camp and you will not get many no's from any of them. Unless you are suggesting that Stanley, Jake, and Kolanowski lost their game in season but should not have been played after? In which case I will ask you who was their better on our roster? Lawson was down, that left Fatboi or Korny....hate to say it but Fatboi was the better choice. Stanley hasn't been near as bad as ppl here are making out, but the game he did miss Vanterpool absolutely sucked, and we have seen how bad Eli is at centre. So again I will ask, how many of these roster choices are due to there being even less talent behind them and that is a GMing problem.

  50. and he continually thinks that starting 9...even 10 is making us our best version....make that make sense With what we have seen with Kelly ...in what 3...4 games now at safety? The fact he hasn't back end rostered Stuart who killed it on teams before he got pulled...not sure why....and is a real promising DB and gave him reps there in a game I bet it would become pretty apparent...much like Smith that he should be on the field. But instead he rosters 2 linebackers...one of whom is wasting a DA spot who play some teams...and thats it...solid rostering
