If I'm trading any qb it's collaros.... he's near the end of the road and isn't a long term option. Better to run with Brown and see what Elgersma develops into.

I was confused as anyone to why Dru wasn't on the roster. But I'm not sure what people expected out to TE? He's a rookie, they kept it simple and gave him easy throws...that is what you do for rookie QBs coming off the bench. Would I have loved to see him light it up and go for 250 and 3 TDs? Of course...but that is so unlikely given his circumstance that it would have been a miracle. Remember, he's a Usports kid with all the physical tools, but he is still 100% learning how to be a pro which includes the playbook/reading pro defenses, playing at an elevated speed etc etc. He did exactly what they needed him to do, play safe and protect the ball.

Yeah, it was more like a short passing game that was almost a running game, then unleash Brady at the end

Right now to Hamilton....he has great trade value.

Yeah I was of the opinion that when Brown was an upcoming FA we should have traded collaros to Ottawa and kept Brown and let he and Streveler run the show. Collaros is a diminishing asset who hasn't been worth the price tag for years.

They scored 1 TD... not going to win many games with that kind of production.

With BLM out and Brady O rumbling, maybe that's all they felt was needed. Manage the game and don't turn it over.

His play wasn't a problem but his deployment was. If our backup QB is a guy who needs the playbook cut down by 66% just to function, we need to have a better option. That's not an Elgersma problem, that's a team problem.

I've got some trade value too, just not 100%.

You're leaving out the part where we also got a 2nd round pick (2027) as part of the trade. It was our pick originally but we sent it to Ottawa in order to move up & take Daniels. Throwing for 5.7 yards per attempt is not a recipe for success. Neither is 5.9. The offense was a real issue in terms of play call and design.

I never saw anyone refer to Elgersma as getting his first start last night.

Believe it or not but there are some Bomber fans on social media that want us to trade Dru Brown to Hamilton. Thinking we could get some kind of haul in starters & draft picks for the guy. We look to be finally getting our QB Room squared away & these yahoos want Brown to be sent packing. Others have said to trade Collaros or Elgersma. We gave up two high draft picks over the next 2 seasons to acquire Brown back. Now these fans want him traded again twice in the same week. I just shake my head sometimes. We probably have the best QB 1, 2 & 3 in the CFL at the moment. The future does look bright down the road. I believe it would be a mistake to deal Brown & I doubt Walters would do that. I've been a Bomber fan for a lot of years & I'm getting Dieter Brock vibes with Elgersma. He could be a very special qb once he gains experience. I'm looking forward to his development in tne years to come. He has almost every box checked off as far as size & arm strength go. Anyway, I thought he played well. he was smart & managed the Bomber offense very well last night. Unlike Tre Ford. The guy may be sensational once he's tutored by both Collaros, Brown & gets meaningful game experience in this league

Did anyone think Collaros had any trade value in 2019? I certainly didn't but it worked out pretty well for us.

Quite frankly, I think we would have lost if Hammy just kept Ford in and he ran the ride and decide on almost every play. Instead Hammy chooses a different QB on each drive and had them throw deep cuz that was the game plan.

I still think we win another grey cup or two if we do this. Would love to see us trade Collaros to Hamilton.

and was an outstanding play by pokey...basically taking the ball from behind line of scrimmage and doing it all with his athleticism...not some great play drawn up and we threaded the needle for a intermediate or better toss. Maybe it was an eye opener to see that we have and how we can actually use some or weapons in an effective way Stoll great we got the TD but we all cant get ahead of ourselves and say it was from stella QBing in that moment or scheme...we have potential all over...just need to realize it, and with that it means also deleting some sub standard guys with upsideguys...be it raw rookie or a guy who's been here but under used That also played a hand in it...sure its a 3 phase game and you win all phases you "should" win, but you cant expect to win em all, all the time and you also need sound coaching and prep, as well as a playmaker or 2 on both sides of the ball. Poor planning/coaching/roster can facilitate a loss also even when all 3 phases are won in a game.. we'd be pretty ignorant of everything tho to think we would have won that if BLM didnt go down....and that even with ZC staying upright I bet tho even with Dru being here a limited time had he been on roster and BLM didnt get hurt he could have made a game out of it...of not pulled it out, just from the effect of his return and the adrenalin of it all buoying all aspects of the team to ratchet it up a few notches...

Again, if the Bombers were to let Brown walk, the 2028 pick would not convey based on all previous reporting. In this unlikely situation, the total cost for the Bombers in the trade would be the 9 spots in the 2027 draft the Bombers would lose moving from their 2027 first round pick, to the 2nd round pick that came with Brown, which originally ended up in Ottawa due to moving up for Daniels

Yeah..and that wasn't the plan with ZC but when he went out it became the plan. Do they have zero faith in TE throwing anything intermediate and beyond...is it because we have a handicapped receiving group that doesn't facilitate a rookie being able to throw those balls with a lack of experience and touch to lead recievers and find open holes and have athleticism to compensate for less than perfect..or a second or 2 too slow reads..big time.. If we i bet even gave the ball to Perkins instead and let him run that same "scheme" the results at worst would likely have been exact same in the win..and id bet we win actually in a bigger way...Brown...we prob have won handily BO should be allowed and leaned on to rumble regardless..every game until a team shows they can stop it..or mix their scheme to eliminate him..then u eviserate them thru the air with an already pre-game prepped counter punch seamlessly and immediate. Not fumble and bumble along for 2..3 quarters to finally start to figure it out...defensively too...out coaching doesn't seem to grasp that coaching concept...they go into the game with what they got and just roll with it regardless...much like the roster when camp breaks.... I agree...they actually made some smart decesion there, but most of that was due to BO being p'eod and playing mad...you could see it in his on field demeanor. How often tho do we see smart coaching in game tho? Not a lot..But a lot of beating your head against the wall hoping the failed planning/parts of roster works..until more times than not its too late..this happens far too often Glad we won...but nobody should feel warm and fuzzy over it...we eeeked out a win despite the coaching blunders/decisions...and that as well is far too common last 3..4 yrs

I mean, I would consider that if Hamilton was indeed willing to trade starters/AR. Not draft capital. It would have to be extremely expensive on Hamilton's end. I would do the same for any player on the roster; if we got a lopsided value back, no one is untradeable. If we can fix the 2nd DE, defensive backfield, and WR while getting Canadian depth? Sure. Hamilton isn't likely to do that, but if they are, go for it. Talking something like howsare, Stubbelfield, Stavros, Gittens etc. Not for some pack of 1 player and picks or less. Otherwise, I'm very happy to be sitting on the QBs we have. Having Brown + Elgersma for the post-Zach era is going to be key.

To be clear the 2028 pick in the Brown trade is conditional on him staying in Winnipeg. And the 2027 pick was a swap for the Bombers 2nd round pick. So if Brown doesn't stay in Winnipeg past this season for whatever reason, it will have cost the Bombers a whopping 9 spots to get him onto the roster. It would be ridiculous to trade him, but the Bombers paid very little for him... and even if he sticks around the club probably views it as a wash because they usually get a compensatory pick in the 2nd round for overplaying canadians.

I wouldn't move griffin..dude is legit there..prob a top sam in league Kramdi would be a worse WIL than safety..we really shouldn't even have re-upped him..definitely not for what we payed him...he should have been another guy we moved on from. Honestly we feel like a 9-9 team. Nothing scientific, just gut feeling or vibes as the kids would say.

The sad thing is I don't think the playbook was chopped that much for Elgersma. We hardly run any vertical routes and basically didn't in this game the whole time ZC was still in. They didn't stray that far away from the gameplan other than ZC being out forcing Condell's hand more to run the ball. This is just wrong. If you think you can run like that against a front that knows it is coming without blocking at the line of scrimmage you are sorely mistaken. He's hitting the second level at full speed ffs.

I don't think that 4 American linemen faired any better last night, Brady's runs on the last series was pretty well all him

TE-You can see the potential and the upside but he does not look ready. Bryant-Liability. MOS-The excuses for not rostering Brown are total BS and he sounds like a defensive jerk. Roster Management-You need to at least sit one of Ayers,Wilson or Jones to get another offensive player on the roster.

I mean...we had Dru Brown sitting right there, as one example. Osh stating they didn't want a veteran backup who had played for the same OC last year to dress because "he wouldn't have the whole playbook" is even more hilarious when you look at what Elgersma ran.

The free blitzer on the Collaros hit was 100% Daniels. You can even see Oliviera signalling to him exactly what was coming and his assignment in the protection.

That’s a huge part of it for sure. Underperforming vets don’t ever get benched here, even just for a game. There was one spot at corner and one at DE designated up for grabs in camp, the rest of the roster was predetermined. We had guys making plays at LB in camp/preseason and cut them to stick with declining Wilson and mediocre Jones. The club treats most of the roster as lifetime appointments and it’s biting them big time.
