  1. Nice..this is a key signing...one of the have to have back ones in my opinion as he just coming into his own...he physical..one our better tacklers...can play any of the db spots and guys dont realize hes 220+ pounds..and can cover...hed make a solid WIL too if given the opportunity...and was our best SAM last yr
  2. wallace played the best of our guards outside of vanterpool. It was his first full season and first time being a semi regular starter. The fire is pretty far from his feet. Eli, is the one who needs to step up most. After that, it’s bryant. We have a good few imps to push him, and we are going to see some very good imp tackles hit free agency. Wallace is more than fine if he continues his progress at the same rate. imo, upfront money is the way to get him and at a good over all price. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/18/b-c-lions-gm-ryan-rigmaiden-sounds-alarm-about-nils-effect-on-future-of-cfl-qbs/ The only thing i’d add to rigmaidens comments is, it’s not coming. it’s already been here. And it’s nil+ nfls expansion of pr and pr compensation. We already don’t see the guys who have any real success at good schools. We’ve lost first and second pick over of the former pipeline schools like bigsky, basically once a qb is 4/5star in hs, we’ve lost out on an opportunity with them unless they fully crash out of the nfl or blow all that money. Even then, the usfl is more attractive to those guys despite the less money. the days of 80-90k qbs with some upside is over. I think a second salary increase should partly be used to split the cap with qbs. The floor needs to be 150-200k for us to attract the talent the league desperately needs. Teams should have a floor 1million on ar qbs. It’s an investment in the league and game it self. 500k for the starter, 250-300k for qb3 and 200-250k for qb3. If your top tier qbs are earning 750k-1million each, instead of 500-700k you have a much better ability to attract young qb with upside talent and success. Yeah. Allen to corner, kramdi to s and griffin to sam would be awesome. pretty much just sergio to re up now
  3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-sign American DB Michael Griffin for 2026 CFL season - 3DownNation
  4. Pat Neufeld signs one-year contract extension with Winnipeg Blue Bombers - 3DownNation
  5. The Griffin signing is an excellent move....Paddy also re-upped for a year won't hurt.....IF we can make a couple of solid adds in fa, things are coming together nicely.....
  6. I am really happy about Neufeld upping on another year. I feel some don't give him the credit he deserves.
  7. Nice to have Neufeld back.
  8. Was pretty much a formality imo

He did. In camp he played about as much corner as S, maybe a bit more. Then he played both in pre season, and was forced into action at corner for one game before he started at S as well.
  10. Yep. Plus, lots of athletic Canadians to rotate all over.

https://3downnation.com/2026/01/18/b-c-lions-gm-ryan-rigmaiden-sounds-alarm-about-nils-effect-on-future-of-cfl-qbs/ He raises some good points.
  12. Forget all that science nonsense about the equinox and axial tilt and whatnot. Leafs Elimination Day is the real first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.
  13. Neuf is a steadying influence on the OL for sure. I think he'll have a great season with Koala finally gone. I mean.... Finally.
  14. 2 points
He was better last year than the previous year when he was banged up. With out Kola to drag the line down, I expect to see the healthy guys who play have a serious jump in their performance.
  15. If he was a direct cover db, I would agree more. He's also played a ton of D snaps off the bench down south. But at S, I don't think he needs more experience from down south. He's got the football IQ and instincts for S, tremendous size and athleticism. His success at S would be based on his adjustment to the cfl game. He's certainly not TCF. He's actually played something like 1000, snaps at S in the Big 10. That's worth many times more snaps at low levels. That is likely why we signed him for 2 years. He might be a developmental guy at worst in our view. Outside of Corner (unless we kick Allen out to Corner, as Booch said), this secondary will be extremely hard to make. I do love the idea of kicking Allen out to corner early and seeing how he does. Then if Kramdi goes back to S, Start Griffin at Sam. Holm, Nichols, and Woodbey should also be locked in (if healthy out of camp) to similar roles as last year. I'd be fine with having Houston and or Bonds back in camp to try and reclaim the other corner spot. I wouldn't have them leading the pack but if they step up either could lock down that spot. If Vaval is back as KR, it becomes harder to use a 2nd DI at DB. With Woodbey already to play wil, we don't need one nearly as much either. Makonzo, Shay, and Smith also greatly reduce any need to carry another DB. With all of that, we would have 1 corner spot open, before cfl free agency even begins. With possibly one or both of Bonds/Houston to compete at that spot. While Mcghee also came to us last year and has league experience, plus Williams and Texada returning who spent time on the pr last year. PLUS all the other rookies. And Lawson, who was brutal here last year but has also played in the league previously. A guy like that can always turn things around. Short of an injury bug, this is the hardest secondary to make that we've gone into camp with in a very long time. But, bringing in impressive size, versatility, and a strong skill set is as good as it gets.
  16. For sure..but he is no more raw than any cis draft pick...and prob blows most away with athleticism...so hopefully our coaching staff will coach Neither will be ready until at least post labour day anyway so they a non issue..maybe some talks in back half of season tho I think both Stan and Neuf have an idea of a fair deal already discussed and are allowing the team to sign others and see what FA is bringing to help the team..and officially sign when dust settles..and possibly get a bit more if money is still there

Let's stick to football, thank you.
  19. When it's HNIC Saturday Night and the Leafs are playing, the PBP crew will always be an extension of the Leafs regional crew. As it was, as it is, as it ever shall be. Whatever... Shove it up their ass with a win.
  20. Is it just me or does Chris Cuthbert sound sad when the Jets score against the Leafs? Meanwhile, he's jumping out of his seat when the Leafs score. I assume this will never change, ever.
  21. Just an absolute ******* scumbag.
  22. He’d be a very good fit at either, also at wil/nickel. Hes a down hill type more than a side to side guy. The sam needs to be a good bit of both, especially in our system. His so so agility would be the big obstacle, plus the nuance of the position. He certainly has that upside and versatility that we should challenge him in camp with many positions and see where he settles. Those big fringy guys who can cover are extremely valuable in Ds. For me, i’d build a D around as many of those outlier match up nightmares as possible.

Things went off the rails for sure. When ownership doesn't care this is what happens. Pinball is such a company man. He straight out lies to cover MLSE & his ass.
  24. 1 point
Yeah shay and Smith need to be integrated and hopefully makonzo is signed and stays healthy He can play corner..pretty much any db brought up here can easily play corner or safety as its pretty much a easy transition for most part coming from the u.s...halfback not so much...
  25. Allen on a corner..Griffin at SAM..Woodbey at Will..Kramdi patrolling the middle...Nichols and Holm in their spots..that's a pretty versatile starting core and would allow a lot of different looks Younger could install Now if we get a couple disruptor DT's to go with Lawson...2 ends with motors who can allow WJ to play a limited rotational just get after the QB role with Bailey's unique skill set sprinkled in we could see circa 2019-2021 style defence again

Not sure about the center thing. I think that just helps our overall performance. I agree tho that Wallace is the guy that will need to take a step or he will be the 6th o lineman. LG could be primarily an American position this year
  27. The guy on the line who needs to take big strides in his game is Gabe Wallace, maybe a new centre helps with his progression.
  28. 1 point
I would like his chances a lot more if he had more experience. Nice athlete but very raw. I see him as either TCF, or practice roster at best. That being said if he brings his lunch pail and works hard who knows. We did keep the marine for those reasons. He will have to show some serious smarts because his lack of experience at his position will make coaches wary

MLSE made no effort to market the game in Southern Ontario. It is disgusting how lazy & greedy that ownership group is.
  30. I f’ing HATE the f’ing Leafs and how they market the team for Ontario and present themselves as neutral. No matter what Chris Cuthbert says about not cheering for any team he markets his broadcast for the Ontario population and an original 6 Canadian team because of revenue. Did i mention I f’ing hate the leafs?
  31. Another ******* blown lead against the laffs.
  32. Intruiging for sure..I could see him doing well in a role like woodbey did..off the edge..in the box covering the intermediate zone and flats But watching his tape...he could be a real good downhill safety too, with ability for some real good over the top coverage..hopefully he pans out and gets a DA role to experiment with him Him at safety if he is real deal and Allen at corner...versatile scenario..especially with woodbey amd hopefully Griffin
  33. I just remember Brandon Browner patrolling the secondary with the Stamps. Receivers had a hard time with his size (height), speed & physicality. He dominated.
  34. With his size, physicality & speed, wouldn't he be better suited to play SAM rather than Safety?
  35. Looks like we can thank Kent Austin for this guy coming up here. Hope he pans out. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/16/payton-thorne-winnipeg-blue-bombers-qb/
  36. I love you guys but also I hate you guys.

AND you could add weasel.....Used to have a lot of respect for the guy ....now not so much....His lack of comments on the Murphy situation were deafening
  39. 0 points
Yeah, Pinball used to be a very popular player across canada. Now, he can't even say that Murphy approached the Riders without his knowledge. Which means that could be a lie as well & he knew. As in gave Murphy permission to do so. Just that Mace ratted the Argos out. Pinball's integrity is shot.
