  1. if your expectation for punt returners is "regularly wins games singlehandedly" then I suspect you'll ultimately be disappointed with Vaval ... or with anyone, really.

  2. My guess would be Allen takes a lot of the reps Kelly got last game when they move people around.

  3. Plus he’s a terrible DB. Are we a developmental team or are we trying to win?

  5. I don’t think it’s fair to "write off and move on” from *any* of our quarterbacks given the state of our offensive line. Receivers. Coaching and co-ordinating are all holding this group back. That said, Zach at 600K is absurd. His play, over multiple seasons, doesn’t warrant it. Strev hasn’t played well but if you set aside your bias and ask yourself: does a system that asks a QB (who has just come off a serious knee injury) to block for his running back put that player in the best position to be successful? No QB has a chance. Nobody on our offensive line is untouchable. Stan stays (if he wants to) to play, provide mentorship and a veteran voice. There are guys who have potential (Wallace) but need to be pushed and replaced (if necessary). WRs. Talent. Plain and simple. We need players who run well, can push veterans and can create space for themselves in the routes they run - that's what we need. NI. Import. Doesn’t matter. Corners specifically need an upgrade. Holm and Nichols are fine but also need serious challengers facing them. Safety is a work in progress and we *may* have a guy on our roster who can play back there but we actually need to give that guy reps and see him work.

  6. Sheehan has been fine since he stopped kicking the stupid crap...no all-star but way better than he was and isnt hurting us now....He goes back to punter guy tho if that crap starts happening again

  7. I never believed that Sheahan was the problem some people thought he was... But he's definitely been really good this year. Vaval is more than fine for a first year returner at the pro level... And we know that Logan is really good when healthy. I'm not concerned about the specialists at all. OL/DL.... Reload there and everything else starts looking a lot better.

  9. Ok, so we need to do what: 1. Upgrade at QB from Zach and Streveler. 2. Replace Kolo (poor play), Bryant (aging and no longer the best LT ever), Neufeld on the oline. 3. Find at least 2 quality starting American WRs 4. Upgrade at least one db spot, if not 2. 5. Improve our high end Canadian talent Am I incorrect? What am I missing?

  10. No Woods is stupid. You’d think with the secondary in the state it is they’d want as much pressure as possible from the DL

  11. We are in year 15 of the development of Jake Thomas... any day now it will result in wins

  12. I'm choosing to believe that the only reason they don't have 6 Safeties on the depth chart is because it doesn't fit the formatting.

  14. lol...pretty much..... Ball...Hallett.....Kelly...very redundant and really serves no purpose....only 1 should be getting any rotation on defense....the other 2 be better served with say Cobb as another back up receiver and returner....and give Bailey his shot....if he shows he has use as a rotation guy then thats a win....But Osh loves to roster under performing and irrelevant Canadians for whatever reason....Drop Thomas...Ball...Hallett for guys who may actually add something other than 2 guys getting 6 to 8 reps a game chasing down kicks would be nothing but beneficial...and Thomas' contributions...or lack there of

  17. I think he will get in, one way or another. I guess he is a pure safety - four years as a safety at Purdue, went to Broncos camp as a safety, played safety throughout camp and preseason here. Doesn't mean he can't play other DB spots (I'm sure he has lined up as a corner in his life) but it would not be his ideal spot. That said, we don't need to start a Canadian at S. We could bring on Allen at S, move Holm to corner, Griffin to HB and play Kramdi at SAM. Kelly goes back to a 7th DB role. I'd be a lot more comfortable with that than continuing to roll with Kramdi/Kelly at safety and moving Allen to CB or some schlub they sign off the couch.

  18. Hello Everyone Congrats to Atomic, who won the first contest. Since we have a lot of the season left, we will do a second contest. Same rules as first except if we get to the end of the regular season and we still have people left. We will take all the contestants with the lowest number of strikes, and they will advance to the playoffs. Playoff will be a single strike elimination, so if you're wrong, you're out; correct, and you move on. If we still have people left after Grey Cup tie breaker will be contestant with most different correct answers from this week to the end of the year. Place Picks Below

  19. It’s crazy to think, but I’d honestly say the only untouchables on our team right now are Brady Oliveira, Connor Shay, Gabe Wallace and the rights to Elgersma. Everything else could be on the table. Not saying blow it up, I’m just saying that if we were to declare full rebuild and decided to move on from the whole team, those four pieces would be the only ones I’d be upset about. Brady- enough said Shay- you drafted the most pro-ready guy in the draft and haven’t given him a chance, gotta see if he’s the next Singleton/Judge Wallace- pretty much the only Canadian OL we have who doesn’t get a seniors discount at Salisbury House Elgersma- I think this is obvious

  20. No kidding eh? Jesus. 2 KR TDs in a single game is a once in a career -type thing. If he can catch the ball on the fly consistently and get upfield, I'll call it a win. He's shown more than enough as a returner to earn our faith so far.

  21. Did you want Vaval to block as well on returns cause hes done everything else i wasn't a sheehan fan earlier but last few games hes been outkicking opponents.

  22. Vaval looks athletic as hell back there but needs some coaching up on technique for sure. Maybe JY can get him there.

  26. cam allen imo. we’ve seen the last few weeks the importance of having at least a stop gap cover guy on the bench. be nice if makonzo was good to go. i don’t mind seeing more rope for kelly to learn and grow at S. I’d rather see woodbey, but having a bunch of rookies in their first couple games isn’t ideal.

  27. In a pinch but bombers had a couple guys in camp who they cut who should get calls before Houston. Dandy was an aggressive player. Hopefully Allen gets on tho. Not sure if he’s best at corner tho.

  30. I left returner off because I like Vaval. Think he's shown enough to say he's a good option at returner. How about DE. Do we bring back both a 35 year old Jefferson and a 33 year old Vaughters next year?

  31. I know....sounds a bit optimistic

  32. Developmental.... Looks like a tear down AND all part of the plan to secure that no 1 draft spot in 26'...This team is hooped with all indicators pointing in that direction....Brown spanking us tomorrow will be the final humiliation......................................

  33. .......returner is missing ...I'm not sold on Vaval orrrrr IF we ever see him, Logan...I think we can do better than Sheahan as well

  34. 1. Streveler is not an upgrade at QB. 2. Sure, but with who during the season? 3, 4 and 5 See above. We had some opportunities at the end of TC but stood pat with what we had.

  36. So Evans starts and Dukes is the backup. Now we just need some of their DL and LB’s to injure themselves before next week. 🤞

  37. Is Houston even confirmed tho. Believe that’s a fan rumour. Is he actually here? Part of me doubts it.

  39. The team has been desperately in need of a reload and for the last 2 - 3 season have pissed away valuable opportunities for sprinkling in new guys. Unfortunately we are now in a situation where we need 1 - 2 guys in nearly every position to compete/replace stale players that are stale and decaying. This could have been avoided had they been proactive.

  40. Who can I jinx this time around... let's go with Justin Hardy.

  41. Among other things, I really don't love Vaval playing corner and returning kicks... That seems like a recipe for mediocrity (at best) at two positions... Dude is gonna be gassed.

  42. I don't think Ball was even playing on special teams last game from what I could tell. I could have missed him getting on for some snaps but I know he was on the sidelines for kick coverage late in the game.

  43. It's a fair comment to make... you have the MOP on the team who is a running back and some QBs who seem unable to push the ball down the field yet there have been long stretches in games where you aren't getting him the ball. Probably doubly frustrating for Brady because I don't think he expected to be rolling near Labour Day with a goose egg in TDs again this year.

  44. Ya that was my thought too... First time I've heard the players say anything other than "it's all on us to play better"... It was small, but even a little bit of "everyone, including the coaches, needs to be better..." really stood out to me

  45. Yeah I'd be surprised if Allen didn't get in. If not why is he here?
    1 point
  46. Oh yeah he'd been awful. I just don't see a replacement. Bringing Lawson back from the scrapheap doesn't give me a lot of faith that we have anyone good lined up. If it's actually Demario Houston that is bad news.

  47. Indeed .. Bonds’ play has sure dropped off. Opportunity for someone to take that spot and never give it back. Bonds out for season per Schnitzer

  48. the identity of our defense used to be "we don't give up big plays"... you can dunk and dunk all game but we'll keep it short and hold you to FGs... now we seem to be giving up big plays regularly...

  50. I actually like Wilson as a short yardage QB. He seems to get off faster than Strev and keeps lower, his instincts to move right or left when over the center gets plugged just seems better. Anytime he has been in on short yardage positives have happened. Whether he can run a regular offence is hard to say as he has not had a lot of opportunity. Strev is 2-0 this year when he has started although it has not been pretty. Seems to not have the escapability needed as a run and gun QB like he used to. dont know if his knee surgery is affecting this more than thought or not.
