  1. Zach suspended for the first game is perfect. Now his complete collapse at the end of the season will be delayed by one week! That means he'll dominate the Grey Cup and then crumble at the parade. He'll cut his thumb shotgunning beers, fumble the cup, fall off the back of the truck.

  2. If game 1 drive 1 starts with strev in an empty back set followed by him running QB power for 1 yard, it's gonna be a long season. If he drops back to pass with a deep route as much as he runs, it's gonna be a gooder.

  3. has to take them when they are there...and/or if defence is cheating up....If he is allowed to run a diversified spread style offence...non-telegraphed play action/RPO stuff and moves the pocket to give threat of taking off...he will be just fine taking whats there and things will open up....Why Buck never did that was beyond me

  4. Nothing wrong with his deep throws at all, he threw a couple beauties in the NFL. It's all the former lapo-buck tomfoolery with him. He can't survive in an offence with deep routes, no one can in the CFL. We saw lots of that last year where everyone runs a 5-yard out and the D runs downhill, making an easy play.

  5. Or any combination of play actions...roll outs....sprint outs...and just standing in pocket until he "needs" to run....

  6. and actually allows Strev to take reps and ownership of the actual offence and schemes...mind you if he wasn't assured that he wouldn't have signed anyway....but this is a positive thing anyway you slice it

  7. All are already starters... But being day 1 of mini camp there isn't much to report. And all eyes were on Collaros and his situation so everything else was buried. Was hoping to get there Friday but I'll definitely be there Monday. Weather looks incredible for the start of camp!

  9. and he did here too...and nice intermediate shots too....Grey cup TD.....Augustine shot in BB when he sucked defence in with a fake run....off top my head....also run his college game film...many many beauty passes...and a lot of huge runs because teams had to respect the pass.....as mentioned here many times..Lapo-Buck once it became obvious he could run and make hay with his legs...when opportunity called for it...almost ruined him...and definitely stunted his progression Also what QB of recent memory up here lingered as long as he did in the NFL...Actually on a roster and getting play time?....There is a reason for it and NFL pratcices..as well as assessing a guy is wayyyy more intense and productive as it is up here....You dont stick around....and they definitely dont keep around a player....especially a QB who lacks in any aspect of their position...they just dont....you get chewed up and spat out in short order...An engaged....fully utilzed and integrated Streveler along with whatever ZC has left in him is our best shot at Cup #3 in 6 yrs I'm almost in the camp now with a few things I have gleened that the changeover with coaching and OC here may actually bring a bit of a renaissance with ZC as well.....we shall see

  14. The silver lining of the suspension - is that it forces the club to put the other QBs into a game, which is vital for the future.

  15. Glad Scheifele got that late goal. Knew we would start getting screwed on the calls when we went up 3-0 on PPs. Soft call on Fleury, then the refs ignore a couple obvious penalties on the Stars. Why can’t officials just call the game in front of them? If the PPs end up 6-2, so be it. It’s ridiculous.

  16. Rookie camp is boring tho cuz it’s just guys basically trying to learn the game all at once. The nuances of the cfl. The most important part about rookie camp is likely in the film room where we can’t be. As for Zach, he’s rightfully pissed. A pissed Zach is a good thing for us tho. He’s got a chip on his shoulder. That’s a good thing.

  17. Betts came into league, said salaries could go up and small market teams couldn't compete anymore. It basically was like MLB is today. Same teams pretty much every year.

  19. It seems outrageous to me that a player would be suspended based on not looking at his voicemails religiously. I check mine only when I recognize the number. Other than that it's like once a week or so. The CFL can be so infuriatingly bush league sometimes. I would 100% appeal.

  20. ZC should appeal. Typical CFL, Stuff that should earn a suspension doesn't but you suspend a guy for this?

  21. If there’s one player—just one—in the entire Canadian Football League who absolutely screams 'poster boy for performance-enhancing drugs,' it’s got to be Zachary J. Collaros. I mean, the sheer physical dominance, the unstoppable power, the jaw-dropping speed... it’s almost too obvious, right?

  24. I really don't want Strev throwing a ton of deep shots, it's not his game. However, he's gotta throw some long ones to keep the D honest. If he isn't a risk to throw he won't be able to run either. Last year was just insanity how we used him. He just got corked every game because they knew he wasn't throwing anything over 7 yards so they just set up a picket fence and teed off whenever he tried to run.

  25. Good quite from Arniel saying that last night they didn't play like a playoff game. Said it was more like Game 45 in December. Spot on. Zero intensity.

  27. Yup. And their PK has to be better. Vilardi's patented move was well defended last night. Stars were really good with their sticks in lanes last night.

  28. Oettinger was dialed in last night. Many grade A type saves. Totally different vibe than the Blues series so far. I like Tanev's energy and intensity he brings but needs to be stronger on the puck imo.

  29. Without the performance enhancing drugs he would've only thrown 2 INTs in the GC last year!

  30. Difference in the game. Although, Dallas had the puck luck tonight. Really good effort tonight. Helle was solid. Jets deserved a better fate... regroup and win game 2. Need to win a game in Dallas now.

    Round 2 : Game 1 - 97° West

The hate on Bettman is not unique to Winnipeg. Look how he gets boo’d when he steps up to talk at the draft every year. I like how he has embraced the role. And smiles when it happens. Kind of like a wrestling heel. Truth is he has done a lot to grow the game and revenue in his time as commish.

Yup it's just fascinating to learn after the fact what some of these guys were dealing with and what the priority was , i.e., win versus health.

  40. The suspension will force a different usage in our preseason games and the implementation of our new playbook. They are going to have to get Strevy a lot more reps with team 1 in practice and in the preseason, and the rest of the QBs less preseason snaps, as well as having our starters play more of the games. Strevy will have to be ready to go with our starters and our system in game 1 and Zach in game 2. Having a bye in week 1 is going to make this much easier, but it will still be much harder for the depth QBs and some other positions to get their snaps in. We've got 5 QBs plus the extra arm in the CIS kid, and then Elgersma is likely here soon. I expected a cut when Elgersma gets here, it may even be 2 QBs cut early in TC this year.

  41. As is every year, it's going to be fascinating to hear what injuries certain players were playing thru in the playoffs. For example, once the Jets aren't playing anymore, you'll hear Josh Morrisey let us know he was playing with four broken ribs, a stiff shoulder and a lacerated kidney, Mark Sheifele will tell us he was playing with a severely bruised sternum and couldn't remember his name every morning while Nic Ehlers will moan about his pinky toe and what a warrior he was in playing thru that pain (you're welcome @SpeedFlex27). Seriously though, health #1 and everything else #2.

  44. Cam Peterson is a 6’5 280 dt from southern, parts of 2 seasons had 50 tackles 4 sacks 9.5 tfl. 5.54 40 was disappointing, but 34” vert and almost 10’ broad is good. Played 3t-4i which fits well with what we do. Kicked around the nfl work outs/camps a bit. Sounds like a guy coaches really liked down there.

  45. 29 rushing tds in 25 games too. 5’7 220lbs, talk about a wrecking ball build. 4800 yards and 80tds in high school too. His measurables are not great athletically, but his quickness and acceleration are very good. Hes got great cut back and hesitation moves, and he’s a tough north south runner. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Quinton-Cooley-RB-WakeForest

  46. You can't gain anything from that observation based on what we gave him to work with...scheme...and not running anything in practice in that BB... Lots of games last yr as well ZC accomplished nothing other than giving ball away...and that was an offence tailored to him...and taking all the reps Drew brown looked like hot garbage a lot in the beginning but was allowed to grow as an actual QB..Strev was never afforded that here...ever Cherry picking one game when have no clue whatsoever of what all the circumstances involved were proves nothing..and was pretty obvious all yr..last 2 really that we couldn't make any adjustments on the fly or in game for the most part it our life depended on it...or how to best use our personelle He was only a SY specialist here in his late part of first tenure and the idiotic role we had him play last yr...if Brown was all that and a sac of plums he'd have been on a 4 yr nfl journey ...was he? Strev was failed by Bomber coaching...plain and simple...almost ruined Getting looks...or no looks in NFL at times is an odd experience.. some is political..some is black listed...some is just pass the visual "appeaeance" Lenius..KSB and that wr from last yr wave and say hi If a QB gets significant preseason play..gets on roster and in actual games...and bounces around for 4 yrs...there is a reason for it...especially a CFL detector as sadly they are victims of politics and bias' moreso than any other positional player who was in Canada first...
