It’s a great OL class. So great it might produce 4 NFLers. I actually think the guy most likely to end up without NFL work is Benedet but he’s been pretty staunch about pursuing the NFL so I don’t think he’ll be back soon. They also have 15 guy PR’s now so hard to get guys back. I think Hergel will stick. Will develop as a center who can play all over if needed.

I just wish they could have just been swept, no need for them to come back home and close out the season with another uninspired outing. They should have just closed out the season in Colorado and spared us any of this hope stuff.

Also helped that we were playing the Predators and not the Avalanche. Vancouver and Edmonton definitely have inferior opponents in Round 1 despite having worse records.

True. Still, the jets have won more reg season games than any other Canadian team since their return in 2011. And none of those other squads have done much better in the playoffs. and when you add in the fact that Winnipeg is the least desirable market for free agents in the NHL… Well, it just helps to keep perspective.

I will say the management has built a very competitive entertaining regular season team. I genuinely enjoyed a majority of the games this season, especially during that final run at the end. When it's hockey played at regular season speed, the Jets are a top class team. But how do you solve this problem of dissolving so quickly and spectacularly in the playoffs? What's that secret sauce?

I agree with this. Chevy has done a great job building the team he wants to build, but we need to see what someone else can do.

I tend to agree I think in general defensive stars are less of a priority league wide. For us we lacked WRs and were spurned so frequently while we churned out dl talent. I think they are stuck in that mind set. We should be able to get a good rookie nose though. Dl is deep with imp talent.

I’d be happy with him in a none 1st or 2nd round pick. The drop off from the guys who will likely be available in the first like duguay to Bosse is step. With another drop off from guys who will be in the nfl for a couple years. I think Bosse is a guy who will be reached for though. I think duguay will go over Wallace. Given the current 5 of the top 10 ol being gone, maybe one more signs in the nfl, Bosse would be the 4th best ol that would be in the league and available. I’d rather take a shot on a guy with an nfl deal than use a first on Bosse. Dobson came in about 15 too heavy, Bosse is a handy 20-30 above that, with a fraction of the athleticism. I think the threat to an ol going to ssk or mitel going to ott is arku or Dublanko if edm gets crazy.

Randomly listened to Riders games driving through the gap a vouple times and I was shocked by how bad Mullinder was at his job. Openly whining like a baby, poor enunciation, talking over others. Between the dl/lbers and ol available our first round pick should be some one who contributes rotationally right away or a futures guy who should start and could be a star. With the wrs and the usual player/positional reach we could well end up with two of those guys.

It's a cliche, but it's a cliche for a reason... You have to play a full 60 minutes every night to win a championship. The Jets, seemingly, are unable to do that. The AVS have that playoff pedigree and know how to take advantage of a team who's not fully committed to winning...

sad to say I was in the same boat - somewhat excited for Game 1 and then after Game 2 and seeing the true colors come out again...I'm kind of meh about the entire playoffs now. Hate that in Round 2 I'll be forced once again to cheer for a Canadian team that isn't in Winnipeg. I just loathe the Canucks but I guess if they can make it to Round 3 I will have to back them...argh...but I honestly think of all the teams the Oilers have the best shot at least getting to round three, and I guess McDavid getting a cup isn't the worst thing in the world...

Oh I’m sure you and I would be schooled by the Jet professionals who would pat us both on the heads and tell us amateurs that nothing changed just bad breaks and bounces a few breakdowns blah blah blah. Let’s be real too, they don’t have owners a stadium or a market for expansion. If any thing if the league tries to shoe horn a team on the coast it’ll cost the league and every team. What was it, 3 teams over the cap this last year? Average of 100k with a dollar for dollar penalty? 200k right there. Teams just stopped handing the top fa wr 300k but started giving bananas money to ni ol. They could spend it ni doubt. Some teams didn’t spend the cap and some lost money either way. 250k isn’t making a big change. They could just use that money to bump up pr money and or spots. No team would be against that
