We signed Dressler. You guys signed Owens.

Say no more.

You signed him for substantially less than he was getting paid in Saskatchewan.  Owens signed with us for a very low contract as well. Personally wasn't in favor of bringing Owens in to begin with. It was a move I wouldn't have made

Here's the difference, when it's determined that Dressler is no longer the best option for his position going forward Walters will have a discussion with him and allow him to bow out on his own terms with the dignity he deserves as a future member of the H.O.F..  Very different from how the Riders dealt with Bagg.

That will depend on whether or not Dressler wants to keep playing.  If the player feels they are still able to contribute at a high level and doesn't want their role to be diminished or their paycheck, then the team has no choice but to cut them. I hate to see Rob Bagg get cut, I really do. Jones is here to win games or he will be fired, so he gets to make the decisions about what kind of team he wants to field

Really like how the Riders just stockpiled all those veteran players and never had any plans on keeping them.

They had plans of picking the best ones so we could field the best team possible. In training camp you have to win your spot, simple as that. The players that get cut are the ones that didn't secure a spot. Salary is a consideration also

AND the decision he made was to hang his hat on a QB who is a big question mark and showed when bullets were flying on Friday that he is what he was the last 2 years...bad...and a Back-up in Bridge who is not a long term answer...running around ad-libbing ducking and chucking isn't a longterm success story.

He also decided to neglect his o-line with Canadian depth...actually in Canadian starters who are top tier and has zero PR options in case they get hurt..or fail...If one or both of Labatte/Clarke get hurt....man o man what is he going to do...start all import o-line?? and even so...has no depth in Canadians to adjust the ratio... so he decided to field a weak team?

If the player doesn't fit the system, it doesn't mean they can't still play.

Dressler's fit in a particular system isn't why Jones released him, though.

The same argument could be made for Bagg, Grant, Owens, and Bond.

Collaros behind a line with a LT and G starting for the first time has to be a cause for concern. Throw in a weak C and RT and well...

That isnt gonna be pretty. I dont like collaros or the riders, but the thought of it is cringe worthy.

400,000 reasons it will be ZC.  But if he looks shaky, again.....some folks will be getting nervous in the service, in Regina.

ZC should be the most nervous man in canada right now.

Dressler would have fit any system...Jones just has a boner for guys who look sexy in uniform even if they can't play the position well....

Dressler was making 225k and was not worth it. He wasn't willing to renegotiate his salary, so he was cut after no trading partners would take his salary on. That's what happened

nobody is willing to negotiate the way Jones tries...thats the bigger issue there...plus he has no idea how to manage a SMS system...and it has shown the last few years...keep believing it is a "didn't fit the system" thang...whereas it's more of a "oh crap we in SMS trouble and gotta shave $$"

He rob's Peter to pay Paul...now are in a very serious depth and Canadian talent predicament..and sadly it can't be fixed this year ...well because he has his assets all piled up in a couple spots and can't address the glaring issues....He is a horrible G.M and evaluator of talent and how to build a team. His sucess before as a H.C was mainly due to him having things all set up for him and he just reaped the rewards from it...plain and sim[ple

Jones method of accounting appears to be, overspend...cut, overspend...cut, repeat, repeat, repeat.  He needs a cell phone app to tell him when he has exceeded his budget.

TSN has released their Top 50 CFL players:

https://www.tsn.ca/reilly-reclaims-top-spot-in-cfl-on-tsn-top-50-players-1.1109941

Quote

The Blue Bombers lead the way with nine players on the Top 50 list, followed by the Roughriders with eight. The Redblacks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats have seven players on the list each while the Argonauts have six. The Eskimos, Stampeders, and Lions have four players each on the list while the Montreal Alouettes finished with just one, free-agent signing Tommie Campbell.

Well done Bombers!

edit: BTW, one of the Riders guys is Travis Bond (@ #46). But they cut him 😲  so really they only have seven players on the list.
