  1. Assuming we re-sign our key FAs (Bighill, O-line, Harris), what do you see as our biggest needs for improvement next year? Two of the biggest for me are:

    - Big time slotback that can go up and get it. Adams is a good weapon at WR but we need someone that can play inside. Love Dressler, but he's getting up there in age and shouldn't be the go to guy anymore.

    - Return game - blocking and returner. Nelson looks like a keeper but I don't know what's up with our blocking. No one has had a chance back there.

I agree but you are missing another important point... the rule is supposed to be that both the defender and receiver have equal rights to make a play on the ball... Alexander was watching the ball and trying to make a play on it... if he was not looking back and just thew his arms in the arm, then I agree, it's completely PI... but in this case both guys are making a play on the ball, there is minor incidental contact and one players flies to the ground... does anyone think there would've been an offensive PI call if it was Alexander throwing his arms in the arm and falling to the ground like he had been shot?

Agree totally. Alexander had position and turned to run to the ball and the receiver just bounced off of him like he'd been shot. Weak weak call that gifted the Riders a TD.

  3. Someone needs to tell those refs to let the play continue on close calls that could be turnovers. A couple of "incompletions" for Harris where the ball appeared to be a lateral and the potential fumble ruled incomplete in the 4th Q. Turnovers get automatic review so if it's close let the play continue and the let the command centre review it and get it right.

  4. 1. Fogg - forced fumble, fumble recovery, pick 6, another 20+ return yards on Loffler's int

    2. Sayles - punt block and recovery, punishing hitting for a DB

    3. LB blitzes - JSK and Bighill brought the pressure on Reilly and for once he couldn't escape

HH - Peterman for the extra effort after the catch, always seems to grind out a few more tough yards with the ball in hands.

The OAG wouldn't let them write it off if they thought they could collect.

There's no money for maintenance and repairs, that's why they've been required to write it off. That money will be needed elsewhere.

Right, they don't think they can collect so they wrote it off. Writing it off is a just an accounting transaction, doesn't necessarily mean that the debt is forgiven. Maybe that gives BBB permission not to make any further payments, but maybe it doesn't. BBB may still need to pay what they can when they can.

It was a bad signing to begin with, and he’s been significantly worse than I expected.

I would put Flanders in for Bowman ASAP.

Why? Demski is doing everything that Flanders did last year. We don't need another RB on the roster. If Bowman needs to be replaced, replace him with an actual receiver from the PR. Washington or Thompkins.

I'm not convinced that Bowman needs to go, it's not like he's been dropping balls. We really don't know if he's not getting open without studying the film. Lapo just needs to run some plays for him and Nichols needs to actually hit him instead of running 100 swing passes behind the line of scrimmage for Demski.

Some thoughts...Firstly no sense to jump to judgement of doom and gloom due to loss as well as there wouldn't have been a reverse jump to judgment if we won...you have to give it a game or two, and ones where you don't stop and go with delays 2 times.

Reilly will do what he did again to other teams as he has before to us and others..thats why he is League MVP.

The defense wasn't that bad...on the first long TD Randle had great coverage and actually got toe tangled when he went to make a play on ball and fell..you couldn't ask for better coverage and it was a great all around play...as well as the 2 point convert...Gaitor had great position and was a phenominal play and one 9 times out of 10 that receiver wouldn't have made...luck sometimes goes against you.

The defense will be good and when settled in...not an issue..Biggie although he Hurl'd it on one play made several plays that last years MLB could never dream of..and Reilly was his slimy greasy self and several of his escapes would have been sacks against anyone else.

Streveler played good all things considered...first game...new to CFL..conditions and delays and put us in a spot to win...he will get better so future there is looking good. He's smart and guaranteed he will not make same mistakes again...and really the pick Sherritt got was a horshoe up the butt play too...not so much a QB error...Wolitowski too if more sesoned would have came back for the ball a bit more to attack it as opposed to let it come to him.

Also I am not one of them "what if" type of guys but if Nichols was in there we win handily...he rips apart that secondary and the defense is off the field probably at least 5 mins less...if not more, as we would have controlled the game more and kept Reilly off the field...not to mention if Medlock didn't eff up that one FG the game is most likely tied or we possibly win...lots of positives and negatives to take out of the game.

Lets reserve judgement until after the next 2 games where I would be shocked we aren't sitting at 2-1

Agree 100%. Reilly is gonna Reilly. Any other QB out there is taking a few more sacks.

At least guys weren't running free against our secondary, the DBs just need to make some plays. Edmonton receivers were making some tough catches over our guys.

Steveler showed he can keep us in games and give us a chance until Nichols is back. When was the last time we had a back up QB (not counting Nichols taking over for Willy) throw 3 TDs?

Looks like there are still tons of tickets left for the game on Thursday.  If I had to make an estimate, I'd say we're on track for 24-25,000 at the home opener.  Marketing department not doing their job this year as most casual fans I talk to aren't even aware the season is starting yet.

More like lots of people blew their entertainment budgets on Jets playoffs and the starting QB is out of the game.
