    Covid-19

In Alberta, today was the first day my age group (65) could book. My vaccination appointment is for March 31st.

  3. This is a worthwhile 9 minutes, but even after having watched this, I still don't know what the right answer is. Enjoy Canadian-based teams playing American football because it's better than nothing, or let the league die an honourable death because everything meaningful would be dead in a merger anyhow....

    Covid-19

My parents and Grandparents will all have it by end of next week. Its a relief. My parents had the local pharmacy call them and say they could get the AstraZeneca and would be able to do their shots their. Both just under 65 but both have underlying conditions that would leave them vulnerable so were one of the first people the pharmacy called.

Which is worse as Trump lied & it costs lives because of it. He put the economy ahead of preventing deaths.

There is so much bullshit being disseminated out there, and not just about COVID and variants, that it is increasingly difficult to tell what is true.

  9. I wonder if the deal could possibly end up being the XFL season ends before the cfl season begins, and the XFL gets access to sign CFL players for their own season. Kind of like the old arena league stuff where guys would go down to the AFL then come back up part way through the cfl season. And for that ability the XFL would include a couple CFL games in its national US tv deal (LDC, grey cup, grey cup re match at the start of the year) As well as perhaps an interest free loan coming our way. Maybe, its more than just players. Maybe some front office types or even coaches would help in getting the XFL up and running. Maybe thats why the XFL season cancellations were pending the CFL discussions. Its a huge risk for the players and the teams, it was really hard on a lot of the guys who played a season of AFL and half a season of CFL back in the day.

  10. It's all true but it hurts. Why didn't anyone tell me I was dead?

  11. I will fight anyone that claims the CFL rules are inferior. And quite frankly I can't see myself caring anywhere close to as much about a 4 down CFL.

Really glad for all of you and any loved ones that have had the shot or are getting it in the near future, this is the only way to stay safe and control the virus, we may never be able to eradicate it but we should be able to temper the results of this virus

  15. It's about time don't you think. All those first round draft picks they were rewarded with because they stunk. Oilers suck hard. Yea I'm grumpy I've been dealing with texts from Oiler fans all morning.

  16. I never watched Tim & Sid because quite frankly, Sexeiro was a prick.

  17. Didn't know Tim Micalief was so passionate about the CFL. Which is good to see. And to work at Sportsnet, sounds like he has had to defend himself quite a bit from all the NFL Proud Boys over there. I don't think his former partner Sid Sexeiro thought much of the CFL. It just reiterates my thought that the team means more than the league to me. I want my football team in Winnipeg. I want the Bombers to stick around. Not fold & go away forever. I also think a new league with 4 downs will be an easier sell to fans across Canada if their teams still exist. Bring in a new league with different names like the Winnipeg Zippidy Doo Da's or the Saskatchewan Prairie Oysters with zero history & it'll fail.

    Game 30 : @ Edmonton

I don't think people realize just how uniquely talented McDavid is. It's things like his release, which fools most goalies. On the 2 on 1 goal, he completely made that look like a pass was coming and when he released the shot, nobody knew it was happening. Tldr - he's just so much ******* better than anyone else in the game right now.

    Covid-19

Immunocompromised guy here. Expecting my first child in a few weeks. There's my bias. "Our" decision to live with Covid has meant I haven't been able to go to any of the prenatal appointments. I'm concerned we are inviting another wave that may prevent me from being present at the birth. Not a big fan of loosening restrictions when mass vaccinations are underway and at least somewhat of an end is in sight. Would really like to feel comfortable being around friends again too. Thankfully all 3 of my 80+ year old grandparents have all received one vaccine shot though.

  25. Idk that comes off like hes been long convinced the CFL game was doomed and is fine with the death of the cfl. Comes off like he would rather be covering american football. Especially the part where he thinks its a foregone conclusion that the majority of canadians would rather watch NFL. I didnt see any of this talk of impending doom and gloom and unsustainability from him prior to covid. If im wrong, please some one post the article I dont by any means read all of his work. I dont think its sustainable to carry a team and their loses like TO and MTL. Its also not sustainable to have no in game revenue. But I dont think those are an issue going forward. It isnt going to be a multi year thing of no fans in the stands, and TO has deep pocket owners now and MTL is in a good space. Not great situations, they need some better venues but sustainable yes.

  29. It’s not great news. But his insights and analysis of the situation were excellent. I’d rather have a reality check. Great questions! I think based on Naylor a big driver of this is gambling. Football gambling is huge, and filling a gap between the NFL season might be the thing. I know people that live in England that bet on the NFL every week!

  32. people get two caught up in the downs. The more important rules in my opinion are the special teams rules, timing rules , motions and the yard off the ball. If they kept all those and it was four downs I would have no problem.

Are they booking online themselves? If so, I would recommend that they set up their accounts now. It's really quick but it will delay them when they go to make their appointments. The way it's been going, 2 years each day. They should try logging in each morning, as they've been accepting the lower ages before the announcement is made. Now, that's just between you and me. Don't go telling everyone else.

  39. If the XFL wants to be truly unique, they should adopt our rules..all of them..with adaptions for field sizes. Could they handle it? The only caveat is that only the CFL teams play for the Grey Cup. They can play for their own. Other than that, let’s wrap up the CFL, and give it a proper send away, not part of another failed US attempt at being professional. Then we simply set up a lower level Canadian game..

Politicians are in a race to see who can get to the bottom of the barrel and it looks like Americans love it how else can you explain what has been going on, is it power, greed, racism, dominance or all of the them combined, the cesspool in the States is wide and vast for these types

    Covid-19

What do you think Manitoba is? North Dakota, South Dakota? Montana? Nebraska? Give me a break. Most if not all are GOP governors who followed Trump's beck & call. No leadership on the Covid file from Washington so no leadership on Covid at the State level. Trump didn't like masks. So, the GOP governors didn't like masks. Trump felt the virus was fake or at the very least the flu so the GOP Governors felt the same. Trump never followed the advice of experienced medical advisers like Fauci so the GOP governors didn't as well in their States or had a Yes Man or Woman in place that followed what their Governor wanted. You can't compare what happened in the US to Canada. What is saving America's ass is that they have vaccine production facilities & we don't. So the US can go all out vaccinating its citizens while we rely on vaccine delivery supply chains from Europe & India which have been & will be interrupted in the future. Biden is hoarding vaccines while other countries suffer. Stats that can be skewed to the user's perspective when comparing what has happened after schools in Manitoba reopened to what happened in the US. Trump politicized the virus. You were a Democrat if you wore a mask & Republican if you didn't. It cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Trump knows it but I bet he sleeps very well at night not sorry at all.

Until everyone is vaccinated, I'd keep everything as locked down as they possibly can. We've made it this long, we can last another few months. The good news is that the vaccines appear to be very capable against the new variants. Just have to buy time until we can administer enough vaccines...
