Dolegala sure, but Maier is a legitimate backup calibre qb in this league. Elgersma needs more than a dozen five yard completions to prove himself.

I said it at the beginning of the season and I'll say it again ... Dinwiddie is really being exposed as a guy who was carried by the high level of talent in Toronto. When you hand him the keys, he's too stubborn and egotistical to realize he's making mistake after mistake after mistake. I don't agree with a lot of the things O'Shea does on a weekly basis but the one thing I'll always give him credit for is that he gives our franchise credibility in the biggest way. Dinwiddie makes his franchise look like a joke. Aside from trading Dru Brown after publicly shitting on him (and then going 0-5 with the guy he said was better), hasn't he also threatened to cut a player publicly after talking about how he should be embarrassed to watch film in front of his teammates? Didn't he pull the same thing last year and then not follow up on it? The guy is an idiot and if the players haven't already tuned him out, they will soon.

Maier was won multiple football games in the CFL (not this year). He's absolutely shown he is capable. His biggest problem is consistency and turnovers. Which is why he'd be a fine backup. He's no franchise QB though.

Thats true, and in general things would be pretty dire. If it wasn't for the Dazn deal. I bet every team in the league turns a profit next year. But the league will have a lot to live up to with that deal.

Are there not any PR Canadian receivers we can pick up frpm other teams roster s better than Cobb & Corcoran? There has to be. I can't beleve those 2 guys are our final solution at boundary receiver.
  14. You speak like a ten year old fan. Like I was many years ago. The true measure of a champion is defeating everyone at their best against your best. Fans don't want to see every other team lose their starting qbs. The CFL has so many problems. The last thing the leagfue needs are star qb from other teams going down to injuries. Now, they'll be lucky to get 15000 to the Ti Cats remaining home games. Their season is over.

They actually had agreed on a contract amount with Harris (he was willing to take less to stay in Ottawa) but Harris wanted it to include a bigger signing bonus but Desjardins wouldn't agree so things broke down. Same money, different structure and Ottawa has been the ***** ever since.

At a minimum he's got the years wrong, ten years ago was 2016 and Harris was a RedBlack until 2019 when he went to Edmonton. The bigger point is bang on though, they've struggled at QB since Harris left.

I recall him owning us as a starter when in CGY in a game....or 2 He needs to be with a good supporting cast, players and coaching, and not have to drag a team to finish line on his back...he just not that guy Perfect backup tho...especially in an in game injury situation

Right? Didn't handle his QB situation at all and traded his QB insurance policy away. Really dumb thing to do. He did enuff to win but it was far from starting caliber play That would be a gamble we dont need to take. The risk far outweighs the reward and thats not a winning gambling strategy

Theres no way we dump Zach this year, even if Dru is lighting it up, we don't want to be one play away from being in the same position as Hamilton or Ottawa. I think Zach may be finished after this season, ride with Dru and Zach until the seasons end.

No idea why we didn't try to pick up another Canadian receiver that could bring more to our offense than Corcoran & Cobb have so far. I just get the feeling that at times, Walters gives himself a pat on the back & says his job is done. He & Osh seem satisfied with the status quo.

Yea, the league has been in far worse shape in the past than it is now. Both financially and on field. Lately we've been told that there is a QB crisis...not seeing it personally. Financial crisis? I don't think the league has been in such good shape in decades. I get that everyone wants our league to be uber successful, but in the past we've been kept afloat by lifelines from the NFL and to own a CFL franchise in almost every city is an act of philanthropy....always has been but in the last few years we've seen 3 beautiful new stadiums built and revenues this year just went up dramatically just on the TV contract. Are teams going to lose money? Some of them but that's basically a given in the CFL since Christ was a cowboy.

yeah, backup McCheese is fine. He'd be an improvement on most teams in the CFL ... except for Winnipeg, Toronto, and maybe Montreal. Hamilton would def be way better off with Maier as their BLM replacement instead of DoegegallaFrostord. Maier gives you a bit of a chance of competing, as opposed to the zero chance you have with Hamilton's squadron of QB3s.

There’s nothing we can do as fans to prevent other teams QBs from getting hurt. We as bomber fans tho can be thankful our management did think ahead and managed to bring in another legit starter in case ours got hurt, and he did get hurt. Hamilton could have done that also but all eggs in 1 basket, Montreal has all their eggs in a basket. Sask also. BC. They all do. That’s not my fault so if QBs go down, they go down. Would I feel any less if we won the cup cuz the other teams QB was hurt? Nope not at all. Zach was hurt in the cup game a few years ago, the other team who beat us didn’t care he was hurt. This is also why we don’t trade Zach. Cuz Dru could get hurt. You don’t trade Dru cuz Zach could get hurt. TE and BP are rookies to the league. Zach and DRu = chance to win. TE and BP = no chance to win.

Fumbling Dru Brown for Jake Maier is an all time bone headed move. I’ve been un happy with us moving on from brown the moment it happened. The fact we get a second chance for a succession plan after Zach leaves gives me a lot of hope. The thought of potentially giving Terry Wilson the keys to the franchise was a scary thought.

I mean even if you believe Zach is the guy that gives you the best chance to win I think with Zachs history with injuries, the confident in Brown being able to step in and win footballs games, and it being so early in the season I think you rest him. Now that being said I think as of today Dru Brown gives us the best chance to win football games. You don’t give up what we gave up for him if you didn’t think he was going to be our guy sooner rather than later. I’ll say this. It’s been 7-8 years since Zach had to compete and sweat it out. Competition is always a good thing. If O’Shea stays with Zach once he’s healthy (and let’s face it, he probably will) I’m hoping it brings out the best in him.

It shouldn't be up to ZC anyway....it should be due to being healthy, as well as what @kelownabomberfan said performance. If feelongs are hurt than you shouldn't be playing pro sports and what kind of teammate does that make you pouting? I'd give Dru this game soley to really get him up to speed as well as to make certain ZC is 100 percent. If the following week ZC is deemed ready, put him back...but if he is just meh...or looking like previous season and a half ZC then a quick hook should be made...Tome for Osh to be a HC and not a buddy and wanna be liked...team first...not bias If Brown lights it up big time this weekend...why yank him the following game tho?...what's the harm in going with the hot hand, and it also allows ZC to totally heal...or at the least, remain healthy. Sure would look foolish if Brown balls out...rips off some wins...plays lights out and has offence playing in 5th gear, only to be benched to watch ZC come in...as offence sputters around in 3rd gear, and we lose ZC been here going into yr 6....Brown into yr 4...not like he some unknown newbie who hasn't been around a while...he's earned it as much as ZC has when you look at it

Funny how they signed Ford yet MIlanovich doesn't have the trust in him to play him. Lawler's just a different kind of cat. (Pardon the pun). When he was interviewed at halftime by TSN ecently, he looked totally disinterested. No eye contact at all. It was like he was talking to shadows. Kind of reminds me of the way Allen Pitts used to be when he dealt with the media the same way. Totally disengaged. There's a reason why Doug Flutie won the CFL MOP award in 1995 instead of Pitts despite racking up over 2100 yards receiving. He wasn't well liked by the local Calgary media because he didn't like them. It was more of an eff you to Pitts than anythiong else.

note that all my "oh god please don't trade Zach and leave us vulnerable" goes out the window if we got Stavros or Kiondre Smith or a similar S-tier canuck talent back for him. but I really doubt that you'll get a foundational building block back in exchange for an emergency veteran quarterback. unless Ottawa is involved because those guys seem to not think too hard about their football moves. is it, really? People tell me that the CFL games moves 5x as fast as the USports game, is he gonna be able to accelerate his brain accordingly? Not saying that the dude is a no-hoper or anything and it'd be swell if he were the second coming of Russ Jackson or even Gerry Datillio .. but he hasn't moved beyond "very inttriguing prospect" for me.
