Zero INTs, two forced fumbles and most big plays against after 4 games. The whole point of this scheme is sacrificing the big plays by the D to give fewer big plays to the O. We’re just getting nothing good. This D scheme is really playing not to lose instead of playing the win. The wind in the sails of this franchise left when Younger took over the D. We have no ability to control games or shift momentum with this style of defense.

That’s kind of the point though. You’re championing a team that needs everything to go right, we are not equipped to handle any adversity whatsoever

If you asked our DC what’s our D’s identity right now, I wonder what he’d say?

Yup I think this was a game where it was a nice balance of how all three phases including coaching were to blame for the L. If we are just talking the D it’s not the amount of points given up, it’s more the how and when, ie early in the game and late in game, always reacting not setting the tone. We need a bit more edge to our game on D imo.

100 percent...and coaching who cant find an answer...or take too long to deviate from their original plan Last week was execution..guys not on same page and communication issues What's this week's excuse? Maybe osh will say i didnt prepare my team enough and maybe should of watched film on Edm and schemed to neutralize them as opposed to scouring film on last week and fix that on something that wasn't really effective there anyways..thats a neat plan maybe..or evaluate the roster and switch out some players.. maybe some others can "execute" ...there's a thought also...

The excuse as well that a part of team sucked in first half...but got better in 2nd half..only to collapse when it mattered in the end is a sappy excuse...or reasoning We come out time and time again unprepared and get in a hole..and shouldn't take half a game or more to figure it out...only to play a passive try not to lose scheme to close out...only to lose...this isnt an isolated thing...its a trend if not our identity...coaching fails us more than it helps us..and as @Mike said we shouldn't have to hope and plan that everything goes right to win a game. Look at Mace last game..just outside the other teams 40 yard line...3rd and 4...they go for it..and make it...osh would never...relying on his boner that Sergio has made long bomb kicks And same with roster..wasted spots...depth in areas we dont need it but bodies in basically the same one...LB doesn't translate to actual depth when several are no good in rotation and ones that are have to take a backseat to his favorite vets Then the offensive blunder...pokey goes down...basically handcuffed ourselves for rest of game...funny part us as fans said that if we incurred an injury we be kinda hooped...we see it but this apparent legend HC cant? Like reallyy?? And this kinda crap isnt isolated or an outlier rare thing.. its a consistent constant going on 4..5 yrs now...when is enough truly enough.. Non threatened vets who know poor play won't get them off roster..and so they play in almost self preservation mode and not in an attack mode or any attitude..too many nice fellas who pander to osh idea of ideal player...time to sign some badass guys...or let some here actually play as such...there is nobody on our defence that a player on another team is looking over their shoulder for...they roam freely in open space with no worry in the world and just make plays

Yeah the D improved in the 2nd half but they were brutal in the first half. Couldn't get off the field at all. It's a bigger concern st this juncture than the offense 100%

The Edmonton loss is mostly on the O. You can't expect to win with terrible OL play and consequently that many turnovers.

Agreed but historically that's not how this team usually handles their draft picks. I really hope he gets the chance to crack the line up.

I don’t know…. There’s a lot of competition for the 2C spot… Said no one. This kid should be given every opportunity to crack the lineup. It’s a big ask, but the bar from last season is incredibly low.

Yeah looks like a good atmosphere..this broadcast pair is surely the C or D squad..Willson blows Suitor right out of the water.. Suitor offers nothing of any substance or value..basically just points out the obvious but no explanation of what he pointed out

FWIW, Jets head scout also believes he could NHL ready next year and will be given a chance to prove it.

First of 2 7th round picks was an interesting one - 6'2 D named Alofa Tunoa Ta'amu. Son of a former NFL O-lineman and he describes himself as a tank on wheels. If he doesn't pan out for the Jets, maybe the Bombers can take a look at him.

Boy I'd love to see Schoen back in Blue and Gold, such a great reciever.

Yup..no playmakers whatsoever No big thumper or guy to cause any tentative play by opposition Coming out looking either unprepared or confused...fix a few things in the 3rd quarter but not able to sustain it in critical moments to close games This shouldn't be a everygame thing but it seems to be..but we'll look at the film and correct the mistakes...or we didnt execute...which is it...and how can new mistakes seem to be happening each game...or are they not seeing what needs to be fixed? My thought is its the execution or lack of...and mistakes are the players not good enough in some spots to actually execute...that and our roster makeup of a swath of guys who cant actually play effective snaps and are just ST players..gee how many yrs we been bemoaning that? Our defence as its designed right now doesn't scare anyone and teams have figured out how to pick away at it and control time of possession and keep our offence off field..essentially bagging them out because we have no impact players setting a tone and making disruptive plays..or we just aren't letting them..we play a passive reactive defence now since JY took over..lowest league totals in sacks..ints..prob forced fumbles...id like to see stats for total team tackles for losses too...and in those yrs we have tanked 3 cups and got bounced out. But we will look at the film and fix it and guys will see what they did wrong..yup..sure

Nobody is gonna rush him but if he’s ready he’s ready. Guys ranked top 5 consistently and who play against men at 18 don’t normally need more time in Europe.

Great question. Can’t stop the run. Can’t stop the pass. What is their identity. O has had 1 bad half in 3 games, d has been consistently bad all 3 games. Concentrating on last game, Fajardo looked like BLM in the first half and on the winning drive where the D didn’t make 1 stop.

D is off right now around the league. But other teams are atleast playing physical making plays and stopping the run.

So if Pokey is out does Singer get on the roster or is it Frderickson?

Sure context matters to my point about not the amount of points surrendered but when they were surrendered and yes as I said equal distribution of blame across all phases of the game. We shouldn’t care about other D’s and point to them to justify anything on our end, we should look inwards to better our identity as a D that’s setting the appropriate tone imho.

Yes. But context matters. Multiple turnovers by the O. Look at how defenses are currently performing around the league.

Nothing a roll of duct tape can't fix...

We don’t have any tone setters on defense. We have a lot of comfortable, talented players.

It’s seems with this D that saying it’s not how you start it’s how you finish is not actually working for us. We need to start better. We’re not setting the tone, it’s being dictated by their O and we play catch up. Doesn’t that come to inefficient preparation?

And I'm reluctant to blame the O much considering the OL was a mess as soon as Neufeld was out, and then Pokey going down early forced too much Corky, Cobb and Daniels...

Now trade Helle to Buffalo along with Iafallo for Doane and future picks or prospect and we throw in lambert (asked for trade last year) Connor scheif Vilardi Perfetti Viggo Doane Barron Yager Rosen Koepke Lowry Nino (cuz vet ) Buyout names. Chibrikov 13th forward.

The O handed a lead to the D late and the D could not only not stop edmonton, they couldn’t do a good job of countering edmontons clock management. The only place the D was good is the red zone. If the elk fed rankin more it would’ve been much uglier. Then we missed the fgs too. It was a thorough loss in all phases. None played well enough to win. The Ol was rough early, which is to be expected with two changes and a pilon at lt, but it god much better. Good Ds will disrupt and create pressure, you need to have play calls to counter that. We did far too little to counter the blitz. Meanwhile, the elk punished us frequently on blitz attempts

Also why rush him and potentially ruin him? If it's better for his future to play in Sweden for a year, then so be it...

sure seems like it. Personally, I don’t find it more enjoyable. few stops, few big plays, not overly physical, etc. High volume of yards on second down and high red zone conversion. This is the intent with the changes from hash mark change to next years changes though.

Osh said on the coach's show that Schoen is expected to miss the whole season, but when he's recovered... What would we have to lose by giving him a league minimum Show Me deal?

Is this the highest scoring start to a CFL season? Every game except Thursday nights game (41pts) has had teams combine for over 50pts with many into 60 and 70pts! Can’t say this league is boring!

I'm confused. As a receiver, it's ok to grab someone's mask and pull on it, but if the defender does it in the same play, just the defender gets a penalty?

Is this still a thing?

Games and strategies..preparing change...Osh is oblivious to it

Then why didn't you speak up sooner?

yup...but also some of the guys could have been good..hard to know as we clung onto old vets and marginal coaches favorites...I still stand on my opinion that Osh is a lousy evaluator of talent plain and simple...and the things he looks for and parlays to his scouting staff to find doesn't translate into elite players...maybe elite people and good guys...but you need more than good guys...and definitely need some thugs and just mean nasty guys...we have zero I not saying bad character guys before some get their panties in a twist...but some badass dudes....and a lot of times those dudes are great leaders and the team follows their way of playing...you can be badass and mean and still play within the rules I remember Ty Jones and to a lesser extent James WEST in warmups and before the game making a point of interacting and pissing off and dissing their opponents to th point they went right off their game trying to extract retribution and neglecting their assignments... and we feasted...

He’s on pace for 1500 yards and 24 TD’s

Played in Fargo last season and was hoping to be drafted by the Jets.

This guy was taking face-offs over Anton Frondell who is someone the Panthers will not trade..had he been a liitle bigger he would of been looked at as a possible No.1..i think we are gonna be surprised how good this kid is.

D looked mostly fine in th second half of the first and third games... Offense looked outstanding in both of the first two games and pretty damn good considering injuries in the 3rd. Serge had a rare off night last night. It's 3 games... Let's simmer a bit.

And right after that trade was made two very big men dressed in black suits would firmly escort Mr. Chevy into a black Escalade and speed off into the distance.

Helle is the best goaltender in the world. Any team that comes to the Jets and says yes but hey his post season stats aren't as good to rationalize their offer I would automatically end the discussion and tell them to pound sand. We are in the drivers seat on this one. Any player offered must be elite, not good, not great but elite.

Buffalo apparently offered the #4 pick, a player and a prospect for Helle & the #8 pick but Chevy said no - would not part with the #8 pick. No clue what player and prospect was offered but I don't blame him at all for wanting to keep that #8 picom

You truly are Grampa Simpson :D

I'll be 39 in a couple weeks. I hope I am still welcome here, after all these attacks on 39 year olds.
