I’m just irritated with yet another terrible handling of free agency dollars. Sign a guy to decent money, healthy scratch (aka pay him against the cap to do nothing) and then move him to the PR where we definitely also still paid his full salary and then cut him for the playoff run. What the hell was the overall plan for this guy?

Wynton mcmanis lol, and when he was healthy he stole half his reps. Their other lber was pickett, aka the two best lbers in the cfl in the last 5+ years. and Jjones took reps and starts from them. Woodbey isn’t being used like jones and didn’t pass him on the depth chart. woodbey is being used as a db. He could be used as a wil like that but isn’t. Does any one think that Tony jones or kyrie would steal reps/starts from mcmannis or pickett on any other team in the league?

Even with J.Jones here T.Jones was never in danger of losing a spot. If the coach was so married to his guys at lb why even sign j.jones? That's the crazy part. Clearly the coach and gm are reading 2 different books at this point.

My concern is what the hell did the gm and coach talk about going into the offseason? Guys we drafted get no defensive snaps either. Just bizarre what's happening

Such a waste with J.Jones. Between him, Mitchell and Logan, we wasted a lot of free agency $. Tony Jones is an ok linebacker but not a guy who deserved a two year deal (yes, he's back for 2026)

We have no idea why he was signed or why he was released. Pretending otherwise is Twitter level conspiracy stuff. The LBs have not been an issue. J.Jones had some playing time and didnt light the world on fire. Sucks to see him go, but not worthy of panicking over it either.

Bell owns a bunch of channels on which they could advertise/promote the CFL. Wouldn't cost them a cent. I've never seen a CFL ad on any other channel than TSN. Granted I don't find much to watch on CTV and they have many CTV affiliates so maybe some ads appear on them, I don't know. That's not counting all the radio stations Actually that company should be broken up into a 100 pieces. That kind of monopoly isn't conducive to innovation

Meh he was good in Toronto, lost his job there, couldn’t crack a spot here, it’s not like there wasn’t an opportunity here to some degree because Younger likes using several linebackers in his schemes. Woodbrey who started lower on the pecking order surpassed Jones over time and just had an outstanding game.

so sad, such a complete waste free agency was. I believe we brought in some talent, but just wasted it. wtf do you even bring in Jjones when you have tjones/kyrie and won’t play him if either stays healthy? We have ayers and the canadians too. Even Woodbey, who could play wil mac or all the db spots. More teams are going towards canadian lbers and tweeners at lbers and it’s becoming a less and less critical position. That said, I think Woodbey is exactly what teams should be looking for at one of the two lber spots especially at mac. Just like how biggie gave our Ds soo much versatility being able to pick guys up and carry deep. He’d be great at sam, or as a full time Wil. If, we don’t waste him.

Winning the turn over battle, and dominating the trenches, I remember the years when the Bombers would routinely do that. Who would have thought that correlates into wins!

Course, that’ll all be on zach and the secondary really. Brady will ball out no matter what. If zach can sustain the level of play he did against hamilton, I don’t think any D in the league can stop him. His blitz pick up and speed at getting the ball out into safe productive spots was extraordinary. That’s his two best game manager performances stuck between the injury. Maybe he’s caught that lightning in a bottle. Dare to dream. It would be awesome for him to carry us to a cup after some pretty terrible play off performances. Edmonton has been much improved but we should still handle them if we show up like we did vs hamilton. Ssk likely has the west division wrapped up by the game we play. Montreal in the last game could go either way. But it’s hard to see any of those teams bringing there best against us.

There is a difference between a position not being a problem and being impactful. Tony Jones has a **** ton of tackles but I would say he's had 1 game where he was impactful. Wilson I'd say maaayyybbbbeee one game where he was impactful. We can do better and J.Jones likely would have but he never got more than 1 game (which did show a skilled player IMO)

For cripes sake...You mean they've started moving them already...lol ...Tony Jones will have a hard time making anyones roster due to his age....Wilson..most likely

Laura Diakin is a much more superior host. She's a true professional who seems to understand the game better than Kate. She should be the full time host.

he got hurt....Didnt lose it...then they went Canadian in the spot, and hence no room for him and or his salary...wasnt a performance base thing I dont think they really even had a plan....just cling to and hope the past resurfaces...again......that ship has sailed on many aspects of the past, and I also truly don't think Osh is a good evaluator of talent...he definately values some things over talent...and those things don't translate on the field to the best players

I don't have an opinion one way or the other... I trust JY and the D coaches..... But... I thought Doug Brown had an interesting comment in a recent Pre Game Show when he said "the Bombers going from Bighill to Jones reminds me of when we went from Barrin Simpson to Joe Lobendahn..." As in, Joe Lobendahn was a fine MACK but, there are very few Barring Simpsons (or Adam Bighills) in th world...

T Jones is on the top two tacklers in the league so were lucky to have him. We signed JJones for insurance but since Woodbey has proven to be better

Or and here’s the crazy part. J Jones is being seriously overrated by people on here. Linebackers haven’t been an issue and with Woodbey and the cdn kids. Where’s the spot for another import linebacker. You guys say they don’t play enough DL but now you want the 700 linebackers on. Wild whacky stuff.

he didn’t lose his job during a season, he was injured. Pickett and mcmannis was there when he was playing in 2023. His contract ended and they didn’t bring him back. That wasn’t the question though was it? So let’s put the goal post back, would kyrie or jones take reps from mcmannis or picket like Jones did, on any other team in the league? The answers no, they wouldn’t.

Mauldin was the next great thing in 2022, but couldn’t sustain it. Now he’s just a guy. I would’ve been fine taking a chance on him, but not ready to fire the gm over passing on him.

Big litmus test will be ho we come out if the bye....and if we put together another game like that....we seen too many great games...followed by complete ineptness....so gotta see some trend start here first. But if we are starting to trend....getting healthy, and in my opinion still a tweak or 2 to really be super solid then this could be our turning point Like you said...Harris is Harris and when the leaves start to fall...so does he....and i have zero reason to believe that Mace is a coach to lead a team to a Cup Adams....is he reverting to bad VA at worst possible time?.....that being said...Mills is as solid as you can get and they may be getting Begalton and Henry back a the best possible time for them Last 3...4 games of yr in west gonna be interesting indeed

The Bombers had an amazing game that reminded us of what they looked like just a couple of years ago. To think this is the new normal is some magical thinking. IMO we're still the cross-over team this year.

Then you have Marshall Ferguson gushing about the Bills telling viewers they're his favourite team. Imagine an announcer doing a CFL game saying he cares more about the NFL than the league he covers.

Obviously not. Because Hall can coach a D just as well as Burke can. Both of them needed a certain type of player to succeed. A Hall D relies on pressure up front, a Burke leans heavily on DBs who can cover one on one.

The sad thing is, something you do need to focus on pure talent and ability, not just a good work ethic and liking a guy's back story.

I don’t think mos gives consideration to talent evaluation. I think he looks at intangibles, and singular factors he likes at positions. Oh he’s got the best hips i’ve ever seen, oh he’s the smartest guy on the field, even the lauded anthem of he’s real nasty. From all these years of seeing our roster building, I really think mos believes talent equals out in the end no matter what. Or that they are all just as talented. As though being crafty as a wr counter balances having the size of a gnat and athleticism of matt sheridan. Like if he collects the right pile of intangibles no matter the attributes, we will succeed. I doubt he’d look at our ship years and say we had a massive talent advantage.

this staff is mystified and enamored with a shiny bobble like kids with a new toy that seems awesome If a player they deemed was the best makes a one play or has a game where they put up numbers....signed sealed and final...entrenched full time even if they go game after gae...week aftr week of crap....Takes an injury to be removed...and even then...we tend to play injured guys...not hyperbole either...facts

Was he over rated by toronto when he lead them in sacks while rotating with the 2 best lbers in the league? Lbers have the lowest impact of any position player in the cfl, but tjones has been awful in coverage. Woodbey isn’t playing lber. No one said they wanted more lbers on the roster. Just the right ones. I mean things can get whacky when you just make up strawman arguments. tackles are not a success indicator for a lber or db. Awe stacks up tons of tackles and very few stop. very much so, but slow joe was better early on.

The wasted money include as well: White Jr, Makonzo, Hagerty, among others.

I dont think Wheatfall is streaky. He comes off as more of a 1 trick pony. Defences figured out how to take him out of games and he hasnt been able to adjust.

Arguable that the coaches always know more than we do- I cite the choices of O'Shea and Hogan.

With J. Jones being cut, this means that we will be stuck with him at MLB until either or O'Shea dies.

Agree with both of you. Wheatfall looks good at times but has been very inconsistent and, from what I've seen, is not a very good blocker. And, he looks like a blade of wheat, legs too thin for the rest of his body. I don't think that it's much of a surprise that with the return of Wilson (and Stearns) and the insertion of Mitchell, the receiving corps is looking quite decent, IMO. Throw in a healthy Collaros and the opposition now have to show a little more "respect" for our guys.

Totally agree with this. Not sure what people seem to think Wheatfall has that's so impressive.

Weather gonna start dropping next week. That means Brady ball. Bombers set up pretty good I think. And you gotta think Brady is raring to go. Less than 100 carries behind last seasons total now. Dudes actually having a strong year. Almost at 1000 yards now running and most receiving yards in his career. Should actually be in the mop conversation

Yeah and after our game milt was like in front of the leagues best fans and talking about sell outs in a row and she just rolled her eyes and was like oh cmon milt best in the league. I mean tsn is a huge problem. If we aren’t the best fans in the league honestly Kate who is. The 11000 in Toronto or the 25k who leave after a bc half time concert ? The green seats in Regina? Honestly.

Lesson here is, when the Bombers throw less than 10 times they have a perfect record.
