  1. I don’t know if I’d gamble on that this early on. Especially with this year’s draft being so thin on OL, you’re not going to replace Wallace so I’d try to keep Dobson for sure

  2. Some interesting comments from Neuf on his media availability. Must watch especially for the off season. lots of interesting questions and responses. Not nearly the usual tight lipped stuff we see. cited the injuries combined with the amount of turn over on the ol leading to the struggles they saw early. Not getting to practice and have a camp beside Lofton, Liam’s adjustment to starting, and the injuries that put him back out and Bryant’s scare. Definitely sounds like he forced it back early and wasn’t ready and probably should’ve been shut down much sooner. Also mentions that guys need to get that continuity going early in camp shaking the rust off and not the season. In response to opportunity to improve with change he seems excited and positive about having some change though missing buck and Bourgoin.

  3. Is Allen a pending free agent or some thing? That seems like really low value for Toronto doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Huge get for bc.

  4. I okay with Neuf....he is one of the voices and leaders on the team....and was banged up last yr....played well again when finally healthy....Not to beat a dead horse to death but a change at center would bring the play up on the interior....Kolo is a very limited center....but we know limited talent here if an Osh fav gets the play time The silence with other signings, and solidifying coaching is a little concerning tho....there some reason's I can see but prob wont mention here as dont wanna upset the fanboi's with nobody can do no wrong on our current staff I think you will be surprised at a few players who are gonna look around and see what's available....tho not necessarily gonna leave...but may...many here wanna deny it but there is a fair sized group of players..some tenured vets who were not happy how things were managed 2 yrs running now....I also think that the non confirmation on an OC...and the defection of other coaches says a lot....of how some things are ran here...the my way or the suck it up style.....interesting 3 weeks coming up

  5. Well my first and most obvious question would be to ask who it is in Toronto who is calling the shots right now? Word on the street is that Murphy was on the outs, so I actually don't know who is steering the Good Ship Argonaut right now. Allen was effective but expensive. We have lots of good O-Line guys including a few who just got here and can do a job (Doxtater, Moore) so with the number of guys who are top FAs, the deck was always going to get shuffled. Dejon is about 30 so he'll have a few nice productive years, he's a west coast guy and BC can tell their star at QB that they're doing what they can to get him an O-line. Likely has nothing to do with anything, but Allen did almost get Kelly killed in the playoffs against Ottawa. And, Isaiah Cage is a free agent too... Not sure if Varga is a starter or not, but most of our National linebackers got played as a starter at some point last season. As it stands we have Cassar, Sopik(FA), Adeleke (FA), & Varga. So maybe Varga is a hedge against possibly losing Sopik if someone pulls out their chequebook? Ceresna, Brinkman, Smith, McManis, Amos, Metchie, McFadden, Priester... some our FAs on D Grant, Haggerty... on Teams Arbuckle, Cage, Rice, Mackellar, Carey, Coxie... on O Freeing up salary and churning the roster happens. And the last few years we haven't done a lot of our signings until later on, so I'll try not to let it bug me as I watch good players get poached one by one.

  6. Half empty, half full who cares, just make the damn playoffs. Do not look any further than that. Once that's achieved win 16 games. Easy peasy.

  7. Hard to say, but I think sparks will fly at the annual CFL meetings if Doman doesn't clamp down on his free spending, they're not going to allow one owner to completely ignore well established SMS limits.

  10. That was a great trade right from the get go - advantage Argos.

  11. Ideally though you'd like to be going in on a roll and establish the game that made you so dominant in the first quarter of the season. We need two holes filled: 1. A solid top 2 D man to play with Morrissey. This is a pipedream, but I would love to see Alex Pieterangelo in a Jets uniform. 2. A solid 2 C that can drive offense in addition to top line AND MAYBE... We somehow get Jonathan Toews into the lineup. That alone would inject a tonne of life into the team, and the fans.

  12. Toronto really does it best when it comes to moving on from players. They trust their scouting and coaching that they can bring in the next great player.

  13. So BC has Rourke at $750,000, Betts at $260,000 and Allen at $210,000. As well, Hatcher and Hollins are making decent coin. So are they going well over the SMS again or are they going to field a roster with a bunch of guys making the minimum (let's call that Maple Leafs plan).

  14. Nope, scheduled to make $210k in 2025 according to 3DN. He's from Cali so maybe he asked to be closer to home?

  15. They've already signed Tony Jones, there will be no hunt this season.

    All things considered...

I would keep the faith in Kyle Walters. They kept things together longer than I get the sense he would have preferred just because of the easily excused narrow losses in the grey cups and big win totals. They started making some moves last offseason and some came about during the season because of the way things always go. I'd be inclined to think our GM knows what's up and will make some of the hard decisions.

  18. Neuf is one of those old guys I hoped we'd move on from.

  19. And neuf resigns for his 12th season as a bomber. Boy he needs to play the year at the post injury level. We can’t afford to see him run out in that first half of the season turnstile mode again.

  20. We needed a succession plan to start replacing some vets .........2 years ago. Some of those guys may still be around, this season. This would be a big fail....

  22. Tony Jones isn’t an impact player. He’s an average MLB, above average rotational piece.

  23. If he's that good, you'll have the opportunity to get him back.

  24. I wonder why the official announcement took so long when the news broke almost a month ago? https://3downnation.com/2024/12/15/ottawa-redblacks-hire-william-fields-as-new-defensive-coordinator/

  25. It doesn't make sense in isolation as fair value. However, could be a player wanting out...could be freeing up SMS because they like the guy behind him on the DC...could be he is a locker room problem...among many possibilities that we as fans do not have access to information on.

  26. Wow that’s gigantic for bc. I’d a started that conversation with a first rounder and players if I was Toronto. Could be. Don’t really have tons of leverage in the cfl especially at 30 years old and under contract. I’d love to hear more from the Toronto end.

  27. Why wouldn't we just presume that with O'Shea being in Toronto's sports scene from 96-13, he'd have had many opportunities to mingle with the likes of Wendel and Dougie?

  28. Wonder where they got this idea from? 😂 https://3downnation.com/2025/01/06/winnipeg-blue-bombers-head-coach-mike-oshea-invited-on-mentors-trip-with-toronto-maple-leafs/

  29. That’s odd. Wonder if they have the offers out and just waiting to finalize new hires? If not that’s a really strange choice a month out from free agency.

  30. He might well take it. If he has the kind of 2nd year step forward most guys do who showed well as a rookie, it’ll be hard to keep him off the field. That said I don’t want us to lose Dobson. He was drastically better after the first third or so. Tons of up side and great football in front of him. That said I wouldn’t give him a big pay day. And I could see some one else over paying Dobson. it’s gonna be a hard year for teams to improve their ols with Canadian talent. Kola is the big one we need to move on from. Not holding my breath. Other wise, we should look long and hard at flipping ratio and bringing in more high quality imports who are actual tackles. Also, with the age of half our ol, and injury concerns the last couple years we really need 6-7 starting ol to get through the whole season. I’d also still use as late a pick as possible on Eric schon. Even though he retired, if he ever changes his mind his rights are worth risking a 6th or later in.

  31. I don't see how he hasn't earned at shot. He seems like a better option at RG than LG.

  32. Speaking of Oline, does Wallace get a shot to start? Has he shown enough for the club to go with him and let Dobson go?
    1 point
  33. All good points. We really need change and growth on the ol. But more and more I feel we will sleep walk into camp with the same depth chart as last year. With maybe losing Dobson in free agency and replacing him with Wallace the only some what likely change.

  35. I’m okay with Neufeld back…. Hopefully we’ll have a better C next to him.
    1 point
  36. If the rumours about a lingering injury left over from the 2023 season were true, that would explain all that. Neuf is a good guy and effective when healthy, so lets us hope he is over whatever was limiting him, and hope further that he doesn't have to compensate for a new right guard and incompetent center. There's a fair bit of money to be gained by dumping at least three veterans who, frankly, were not worth their salaries.

    The TV Thread

Well I finished the Crown season 5...what a mess when I got to annus horriblus all I could hear was Oprah saying "You get a legal Separation! You Get a Legal Separation! You get a legal Separation! I did like that Margaret did get to see Peter one more time before he died I kind of liked the first Fayed episode it was refreshing to see a billionaire treat a servant with respect (and holy crap Dodi had a good eye regarding movies) I couldn't watch the intro to episode 6 I like the editing on this show but I hate how they did it here, they show the Romanov's getting shot up while the Reigning Royals at the time were on a hunt and yeah there is some accuracy about the Queen Mother liking those night soaps (she even asked Larry Hagman if he knew who shot him) still of all the shows that popped up in the last scenes of Gunpowder, why Beavis and Butthead? was it too much to ask for the Simpsons? I'll bet they could have used a guide button on that Satellite remote I can't believe someone in the family gave the Queen a Big mouth Billy Bass yeah I know what's coming in season 6 though I watched that episode already (granted I'm not looking forward to seeing the Queen lose her sister, her mother and Porchie all in a six month span though I don't think they'll cover the latter (however I wonder if they'll cover 9/11 because shocker, I checked he actually died on 9/11...not the way you think though) he stopped showing up after season 3)
