Bombers @ Als: The Game Day Thread

Gotta have an official GDT.....

Two teams seemingly headed in opposite directions. Als already-shallow roster is banged up. Bombers relatively healthy (*knocks on wood*) and seem to be playing better each week. Good teams avoid traps and just keep on trucking, regardless of the opponent. Time to put the wood to these guys and keep rolling along....

  • Funny how Hurl gets his missed sack brought up all the time yet Westerman and Jeffcoat both had the exact same thing happen and no one talks about it at all.  Missing a sack on Durant isn`t the w

Maybe it's cause the montreal Offence didn't have much trouble with the Bomber defence last game.

I don't think it is necessarily anything Johnson did.  It's just that Okpalaugo is healthy and someone has to come out.  In one of those weird quirks of the ratio, Johnson was competing with Flanders to stay on the roster and Flanders won.

8 starting Canadians.

Oh, there's that "invisible" Denmark making the catch again...this time for a TD!!

Als D still got game - Als running attack amping up again.

Throw the ball down the field Lapo... also can we not cover 10 yard passes?

This team is going to give me a coronary, Randle comes through and Medlock is money but the D needs to find a MLB.

Huge win, but we are still short 2-3 guys in the back 7.  Hurl/Knox at LB not good enough.....and revolving door of rooks learning under fire in the DB

How can TSN not have cameras on both sides of the end zone?  The angles for the possible fumble on Montreal's overtime TD was horrible.  I think it may have been a fumble.

Yikes! What a grind. Lapo calls a freakin' Picasso last week, then reverts back to his 5 yard crossers on 2nd and 9 comfort zone. But a win is a win! Good teams find ways. 5 in a row baby!

Montreal always plays us tough and did beat Calgary this year. But overall... Thought our O wasnt that good. D with several turnovers helped out.

Could not stand the TSN coverage tonight. Seemed like they just came up short of having an iso camera on Nik Lewis all night. Wish I woulda been setup to listen to CJOB instead of TSN. All bloody night Nik Lewis

I thought Durant looked like crap ,  I also was wondering why the Blue  didn't go deep more often?    A game that I'm glad they won and one that they should of won... but it was definitely not a great performance.

They were embarrassing. Did they even talk about the game? All I heard about was Nik Lewis' receptions, Andrew Harris' chance to get 1K-1K, and the Montreal/Winnipeg game several weeks ago.

The Bombers got three hands to the face penalties and they didn't show a replay on any of them. They didn't have a good camera angle for the may-have-been-a-fumble TD.

I expect very little of TSN these days, and yet somehow remain disappointed.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. Other than Mincy theyve got a washed-up BStew and a bunch of no names in the secondary. Would have liked to have seen them go deep on some one on ones and let a guy like Adams go up and get it.

Good teams win games they should not.

Exactly, How many close games has Calgary won against us/the rest of the league over the  years? Montreal has a lot of vets they didn't play well last week and came out and brought their A game at home. The good teams win the close games.

You can't sugar coat this as our defense is terrible. Our linebackers other than Leggett are terrible. All I ever see is the back of Hurl's jersey on every play. he is being outplayed out there every game. Our D is going to cost us a championship.

I don't know?...  I certainly didn't expect a  double overtime win... but I did call a 5 point Bomber win, Montreal has always been a thorn in the side...

Till CB's interception in overtime......our D couldn't hold a lead, and didn't make a single play down the stretch and in crunch time.   But there is a difference between labor pains.....and seeing the baby - in this case a big two points on the road.

Edmonton in their 7 and 0 start won by an average of 5 points. I think its time people realize all teams are pretty equal... Even the Eastern ones except Hamilton. Our D forced 4 turnovers.. Yeah they gave up some big plays but they stepped up this game..Als were 3 and 1 at home now 3 and 2.. Their D is very good and kept them in it. Our O play calling was pretty brutal tonight tho... Nichols barely over 200 yards passing. Yet they never trailed in the game. Bombers were the better team tonight.. They deserved the win and got it.

Checking back in after a long hiatus

Well, it's hard to argue that this team keeps finding ways to win even if they are a bit more closer than they should be.

I think I'd have to echo the concern about the defense.  They were a liability at some points in the game, but they did come through FINALLY in OT when they needed to make a play.  At some point I think it's going to be incumbent on them to step up if the offense sputters and do what championship caliber defenses do in regulation and not have to hope that the other team makes self-inflicted errors to bail em out.

Still though, good teams always find ways to win and thus far we've done that.  7-2 is the best we've done in a while.
