The fact is, neither absolute would be successful.

I agree.  I just wish there was some way of insuring that a certain number of starting positions on each team had to be citizens of the country in which the games are played in.  That way citizens would have some opportunity but there could still be people from other countries able to compete too.  Oh well, a system like that would probably be way too complicated to be practical.

Why do we need a ratio then? As time goes on more C anadians will play in the NFL. We don't need a ratio anymore in the CFL. Best players should play.

The reason is in the title.  It's the CANADIAN Football League, not the Silver Metal for US Players League.  Canadian kids should be able to have a real chance to play pro football in their own country and not have to fight over the scraps left to them by Americans who for whatever reason, didn't make it to the NFL.  Ya, the number of Canadian kids playing in US colleges is growing but it is still a very small percentage.  The CFL is special because of the ratio and our rules and I hope it stays that way.

and you think we'll just pick him up at that point? The Bombers will have their QB stable set coming out of camp and that's who they'll roll with. Prukop isn't Streveler...they're not gonna just make room for the guy.

Agreed.  If the Bombers really wanted him back, he'd be signed already.  I think that after that "hero throw" interception during the Cup game (which I really don't think was the called play) the team said thanks for your time, feel free to show yourself to the door.

  4. It's funny how these US non-NFL leagues come and go.  It seems that between high school ball, college ball and the NFL, Americans really don't want/need anything else.  Yet at the same time, once this latest league folds, someone with more money than brains will come along and try it again.  And at the same time, the usual suspects in Canada will declare that this (insert new league name here) is the end of the CFL.  And round and round we go.

They need more fans like Bluto

No argument here, but the fact that no one but he cares about the Agros shouldn't be something that allows him to post some of the crap that he goes.  He can always go start an Argo forum and then pretend he's several posters in order to generate a "conversation".  Oh, wait...

but he isnt like the Rider bums save for @greenrider55he actually brings intellect and facts, and knowledge to discussion, and can actually discuss based on actualities....instead of just blind ignorance, stupidity and juvenile behaviour....hence why tolerated....both those guys add to the forum as opposed to being a stain

I disagree.  He hangs here because he's tolerated by a few of you and that's fine.  To me, he's nothing but a troll, one that we never see here most of the time, except when the Argo's do well.  Then he's an insufferable jerk.  If there was such a thing as an online community for the ten's of Argo's fans, he'd be there, but sadly, he knows he can get away with this crap here and frankly, I'm sick of him trying to rub our faces in a fluke win by the welfare team of the CFL.  Might not be a popular opinion, but there it is.

You’re on a bomber forum we’re not going to sit here all day and circle jerk your Grey Cup victory. Congrats on the win, any given Sunday, let’s leave it at that and move on you don’t need constant validation from another teams fan base.

Agree completely.  Trolls us but because he bought a few people here a beer or two, he's tolerated.  If he was a Rider fan, he would have been kicked to the curb long ago.

    A fluke...

    Fine. Have it your way.

The only fluke was that the Bombers didn't get killed in their 1 point loss.

I haven't seen anyone hereabouts mention that until we finally got that first Interception that four other ones before that went through Argonaut fingers and would've sealed the day.

We were more physical. That is never a fluke.

And to my everlasting amazement, Ryan Dinwiddie embarrassed O'Shea.

That all happened and the only luck was that it wasn't a multiple score Argo win.

    7-0.

This from a fan of a team that could use a mini van as a fan shuttle for their games, and still have room left over.

The crazy thing is suggesting they fluked out a GC win

Does that mean we fluked out the win in 2021?

They beat us and we’re a year older in a sport where older isn’t always better. That’s a legit concern. Maybe it’s unwarranted and they’ll have another amazing season, I hope that ends up being the case. But for now, it’s a concern for me.

Yes, they fluked out a win because we're the better team, played like crap and they managed to beat us by a single point.  So, yea, fluke.  Nice try with the whataboutism though.  You also realize that we will be having a training camp, right?  The roster is not finalized yet, so maybe stow the hand wringing until the end of June.

I mean, is this really much different than us?

We’ve invested every ounce of cap space in aging talent and we can afford to sign exactly one free agent, it seems like. I’m not thrilled with our off-season at all, at this point. Seems like we’re banking on a lot of “please still be in your prime” from key guys. Look at Toronto - they beat us in the Grey Cup and are making massive additions. They’re a better team than us *today* on paper.

Ya, ok.  A 15-3 team signs a bunch of the very people that made it a 15-3 team and that's a bad thing.  A team that beat itself in the Grey Cup is now somehow worse than a 11-7 team that fluked out a GC win.   Thanks for your opinion...

  12. I would have to think that if an agreement in principle announcement is made, it means that the back and forth negotiations have taken place and the idea that this will "parlay" a larger offer from the other team is crazy.  A team isn't going to announce to its fans that they have reached an agreement with a player if that player can then simply return to their original team.  It may be theoretically possible but it's not going to be something that happens very often because the whole exercise would become pointless.

  13. I doubt that Evans would fit in our salary structure, but I think that if he could get his head straightened out, working under Collaros and O'Shea and the FIFO system would be the place it would happen.

Oh and by the way, just popped over to Riderfans.  Apparently, everything is going to be just fine.

I think it's important to acknowledge that O'Shea has a soft spot for veterans and people who have earned their spot in his eyes.... So in that regard, I still think Kola is pencilled in as C with the 1s right now, but absolutely Osh will give Eli the chance to earn the spot at camp. The vaccine controversy ended the moment they signed him to the new contract.

I agree about O'Shea.  My point was that if Eli ends up showing that he's a starter in TC, then O'Shea will play him because that's the point about him, he doesn't seem to play stupid politics or mind games.  With him, the guy who gives the best chance to win will play, period.
