For those of you who are suggesting that Bombers could have handled things better, remember where your information is coming from. Friesen loves to stir the pot and Bighill is disappointed. So the reality may lie somewhere in the middle.

Because you have to take who you are playing into consideration. Realistically there was only one QB on our roster that was going to beat Toronto. His name is Zac Collaros. He was injured, but realistically our only chance of victory is if Zac is able to suck it up in a championship game and overcome the injury. We put Wilson in and he promptly threw 3 straight incompletions. It's not like we didn't try him. Time was of the essence, instead of going back to Wilson we went with our MOP QB even though he was injured. It backfired, and therefore became the wrong choice, but at the time it was a decision that was made on some sound reasoning. Zac's first pass is a long ball to Wilson that was an inch away from being a perfect long bomb for a TD. Football is wicked that way, and inch here or an inch there.
I'm quite sure our head coach has repeatedly said that everyone on our team is a starter. So are you calling O'Shea a liar?

The Stamps did all of their hiring in house for years until there were so many coaching offspring as GM's, Head Coaches & Coordinators that they started looking & making coaching decisions like they were from the isolated mountains from Arkansas or Tennessee. Hiring from within just decreases the coaching gene pool & precludes any new ideas or breath of fresh air when it comes to everything from new ideas to team culture.
Remind me again, where did our current GM come from?

I mean that is garbage. We weren't coming from behind with Wilson or Dolega.
Totally agree on running though. Should have pounded it all game.
You have no way of knowing that, none at all. We had every bit as good a chance with our backups vs a starter who clearly could not throw the ball. A good leader sets up his people to succeed. With this boneheaded decision, O'Shea set up Collaros and the rest of the team to fail. One has to ask why he thought a qb with a damaged hand was a better option than a fully functioning backup, who in theory, is there for exactly this sort of situation.

For me, the issue is that he took the bonus, given to him with the expectation he would honour his contract. He decided to back out. It doesn't matter at all why. An honourable person would return the money. He didn't. Tells me everything I need to know about his character. If he wants to spend more time with his family, great, but while being with them it might also be a good idea to teach his kids what it looks like to be someone who keeps their word.

They're having a pretty cool party for the LDC as well. Pizza buffet and beer specials. Would give anything to be there for it.
That may be the first time that has ever been said about Regina.

Smith old? You are one of the biggest age discriminators we have here. He's 58. You're rapidly getting there yourself age wise now thaat your're in your 40's. The way the radio & tv biz is in Canada, you better hope you don't get laid off as you're probably looked upon as old yourself by program directors at least ten years younger than you. Don't fret, though as you can always get a job behind the salex counter at a gas station in Olds. Oh wait, there's that foreign worker thingy going on...
you're continuously an ancient ray of sunlight around here. You must have been something before electricity, huh?

Maybe she lurks on here and follows the team obsessively. Maybe she drives up for the Banjo bowl every year and watches every other game on TV.
How would you know?
I mean, first of all who cares? I’m just interested about your thought process there. That’s a lot of random assumption.
I for one, am not surprised that we're moving towards the "Who's a true fan?" conversation again. We didn't have it too often during the good years, so this is yet another signal about how far we've slid. Of course, being 0-4 should have been a good clue, but this simply confirms it.

In my opinion, Walters can only step in once it is abundantly clear that O'Shea has lost the plot. A good manager lets his people do the job he's paying them to do, and would only step in if his subordinate is floundering and doesn't seem able to get his/her footing and move forward. O'Shea, in my view, isn't there yet. We went to the Cup last year, only two head coaches in the league can say that. So if Walters brought in talent but O'Shea believes that the people he's selected are the best team that they can put forward, then let him do his job. If by midseason we're at still struggling, then it would be fair to sit him down and ask him what has gone wrong. Right now he can say that despite the questionable pre-season prep, injuries and Zac needing to "recalibrate" are the main reasons for the slow start. As we move forward, those excuses will fall away. At that point, Walters can call him in and give him the "What are you thinking?" speech.

I have nowhere near enough knowledge to suggest what might be wrong, but from a simple fan perspective, this team seems "off". It just doesn't look like the Bombers from a few years ago. The fire and determination just don't seem to be there. And they really don't seem to be prepared. For me, much of this has to point back to the coach. I've never met Coach O'Shea, but the way he deals with the press, who are asking questions on behalf of all of us, has always come across as very condescending. It's not something that's going to endear him to a lot of people. That's ok when we're winning, but isn't going to hold up for long if we regress. I hope he finds just a touch of humility and turns this thing around... soon.

For me, I've scratched my head a few times over roster decisions that Coach O'Shea has made, but I've always remembered that there are things that I don't know/understand, so who am I to criticize? But this last Grey Cup, he allowed injured players, who had no business being out there, to not only dress, but to start. He allowed this to happen and there was no good reason for it. I'm assuming that over the off season, someone in the organization has had a talk with him about his loyalty to his players and how sometimes you have to put winning ahead of loyalty. He's a great coach, but like all of us, has a blind spot or two that he needs to get coached up on.

That's exactly what the guardian helmet does. Literally what it is designed for.
A better analogy would be if they put the airbags on the outside of the car. Sure, it would lessen the impact forces inside the vehicle a bit, but that body slamming into the steering wheel won't notice. That extra padding on the outside of the helmet likely does help a bit, but the point is the brain bashing into the skull, repeatedly.

the rules are what make it great...not who's under the helmet...and the best available players would make it even better....talent/competition wise....If they were all American....all Japanese...all Mexican....all white...blck...combo of all nations....and played in Canada....under the same rules...in same stadiums....wouldn't bother me one bit....If it was all Canadian tho...I'd watch...to a point....but would not pay the money I do now when attending for a sub par product....I could watch Junioor or Canadian University for that....for a fraction of the price...BTW...I was born in Canada and lived here till about 16....and moved back when I entered the work force...So i'm not some Anti-Canadian basher
If someone thinks that we could get rid of the Canadian ratio, employ mostly all Americans trying to get into the NFL, and not adopt NFL rules is more than a bit delusional. Get rid of the radio and the CFL is over.

Thats alot to give to one player. How many appearances was he expected to make?

You've never been in a job where you kept working there despite abuse from people above you? You've never known someone in the same situation? Sometimes people don't want to be driven from a job they like because of another person and they try and stick it out.

Being that this could be Zach's last season, if not Strevler, then who on our roster should be the starter?
