Credit to: @DTonOB Bombers list DB Jonathan Moxey and LB Dylan Hazen as Doubtful for Sunday. Ridge Texada would quickly fill in for Moxey at the field corner. In Hazen's place...don't be surprised if REC Dorian Singer makes his CFL debut. He's consistently impressed in camp and practice.

Well hes not exactly wrong until we prove otherwise..could definitely been just a random blip as our wr core is still weak U can't discount tho the oline how it seemd to maybe morph into what they may truly be..that kind of stuff is more indicator than anomaly..curious to see how they come out this weekend and if controlling the line is the new reality
  6. Collin Kornelson signed by Stamps Stampeders save O'Shea from himself. I'm sure he was one stubbed toe away from appearing back on the PR
  7. Football Canada won't be able to adjust fields even if they want to. Talking millions upon millions of dollars to do that from high school and community programs that just scrape by relying on donations to try to let kids play. Most programs are struggling to buy equipment and field paint that all comes from the US. Cans of field paint up 150% since the start of this decade. Helmets and shoulder pads almost doubled in price. Tariffs on everything, all coming up from US. We can't charge people $1500 in fees for a football season and expect the sport to keep growing. Charge $500, have half the people able to pay even that, rely on fundraising, donations and programs that will cover fees for people who can't pay within limits.

totally buy that. the pressure gambling revenue has put on pro sports is crazy
  9. 3 points
I have a theory that gambling oddsmakers hate the 10-point swing that comes on a missed field goal TD return. this is totally idle speculation based on zero hard information, but the CFL isn't exactly being forthcoming about why they're changing the rules.

But is he a $&^# kicking blocker?! Gonna be sad to watch him and the als do what we have tried do, but drastically better. Is that 15 including the AIchat bot of nasty nate? Idk if Cline will be up here this year, if he is I don't think he will see the field. Likely a next year guy imo. This could be a huge L for grassroots up here. Sure, it is possible to turn around; some arenas have gone from NBA to NHL many times a month. But it is gonna be a PITA and will likely limit showcase games / lower level championship games, and is yet another sticking point for making the transition from college to pro. I hate the field/upright changes and I hope the CFL changes its mind.
  18. Yea I think a lot of people have forgotten that we played a significant amount of our games with Dru Brown under centre....and he did well enough but our offence is clearly better with Zac Collaros. Some will point to the 2nd half in Edmonton or the mediocre Ottawa showing, but really our offence was out of sync after a long absence from the starter and seems to be rounding into form again. I think we match up favorably with the Riders. I like our chances. We need the same kind of performance from our trenches as last week and we should be just fine. I am not predicting a LD win though, as I have been to too many LDCs where something ridiculous happens and the Riders win.

can’t even compete with the power 4 divisions in d1 any more on any of those points. The cfl is in front of the american association that the gold eyes play in and behind the frontier league. behind mls and wnba. The cfl has fallen far, far behind and the demographic is ancient. The combination of fan base age and being on the fringe of the 2nd tier of sports leagues is extremely dangerous.

  26. Hard to compete with the NFL. NFL has better: Talent, marketing, league dynamics, broadcasting etc etc etc? The CFL is very niche and hasn't kept up with what is needed to attract younger generations.

Just by a fluke I was on that flight back to Winnipeg as I had gone to the Labour Day game with my cousin who lived in Regina so I stayed the weekend at their place. I had never been on the same flight with the Bombers or any other pro sports team so it was quite interesting watching some players act like bad teenagers on the flight while the coaches seemed oblivious to the rowdy & raunchy behaviour going on around them. The 1974 season was a struggle so any win was probably just a joy for the coaches & players. Jonas was the best player on the field that day at Taylor Field. He was the hero ripping the Rider secondary for over 300 yards passing & brought the Bombers a victory on the final series where he led the Bombers downfield & Walt McKee kicked a walk off field goal on the last play of the game to seal the win for the Bombers. Don Jonas was not getting along with HC Bud Riley & GM Earl Lunsford. He had feuded with both & the Winnipeg media was all over it. A week or so previously Lunsford had commented that Jonas was having trouble reading defenses. Jonas, hugely insulted by that off the cuff remark angrily told Jack Matheson the sports editor of the old Winnipeg Tribune & beat writer for the Bombers that Lunsford had no idea what he was talking about. Jonas added that since Lunsford never came to any qb meetings or film sessions that he had no idea what he was talking about & should shut his mouth before critiquing him or any other player. Lunsford was furious. His huge ego just couldn't stand being criticized in the media. That was the beginning of the end for Jonas. No player could publicly insult Lunsford & get away with it even if the guy who did it was a former MOP of the CFL just 3 years earlier. And hugely popular in Winnipeg. Lunsford wanted Jonas gone & he began working on a deal to do just that while rocking the CFL at the time. On the late night flight home, Lunsford completed a trade that sent Jonas to Hamilton for QB Chuck Ealey who has been the 1972 CFL ROTY & MOP player in the 1972 Grey Cup. I remember getting off the plane & walking by Lunsford & Jonas who were off to the side & involved in a very, very serious conversation. I didn't think much of it until I was sleepily going to work a few hours later & heard on the radio that Jonas was gone to Hamilton for Ealey. What a shock!! I can tell you that announcement woke me up for sure. I can also say that I hated Lunsford so much after he made that trade. The guy was just a terrible GM who treated his players like ****. Yet, the Bombers BOD kept that useless .... around for 16 years until 1983.
  34. I don't think this week tells us much about anything unless it's a blow out. It's the LDC we rarely win, and it is almost always a very close game. Anyone looking for a sense as to the rest of our season will probably not get it this week.

For shits and giggles and the reminiscing of Nasty Nate in the other thread, I used MBB posting history and ChatGPT to get a Nate style commentary on the season to date. Enjoy folks, all meant for some levity in a frustrating to date season. THE 5–5 FOLLIES: MIKE O’SAME AND THE BLUE BOMBER MUSEUM Ladies, gentlemen, hobos, rounders and prairie plutzkies…your 2026 Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 5–5, which is a PERFECT record if the objective is to be neither good nor bad enough to force anybody in management to do something. These Bombers are a football slot machine. Pull the handle and maybe you get a half of competent football…maybe you get 377 rushing yards surrendered to B.C.…maybe you get a 16–0 lead in Edmonton followed by three points and 35 yards of offence in the second half. Nobody knows! Least of all the fellows being paid to know. After every fresh disaster, out strolls head coach Mike O’Same, president and founder of S.A.M.E.—Stand Around, Mutter Excuses. Mikey surveys the smoking crater and announces that the fellas simply needed to make two or three more plays. Brilliant! The Hindenburg merely needed a couple more buckets of water. Meanwhile general manager Kyle Waiters, also known as the Duke of Stand-Pat, watches every other CFL club bring in receivers, defensive backs and pass rushers while Winnipeg guards its practice roster like it contains the lost treasures of King Solomon. Weak receiver room? Wait. Confused secondary? Wait. Ancient offensive line creaking like a haunted hotel? WAIT HARDER. Eventually another team will accidentally release an all-star directly into Kyle’s office. Then we have offensive coordinator Tommy Con-Dull, architect of the CFL’s last-place red-zone operation. Give Brady O-FEED-ME-ra the football and he bulldozes Edmonton for more than 100 yards before halftime. Naturally, Con-Dull responds by hiding Brady in the second half like he owes the coaching staff money. Why use your best offensive player when you can have Zach Colla-Rust fling another hopeful balloon toward a receiver moving with the speed of a refrigerator being dragged through wet cement? On defence, coordinator Jordan Yawner has installed his famous Prevent-Us-From-Winning scheme. Rush three, rotate seventeen defenders, place the defensive backs somewhere near Brandon and graciously concede the seven-yard completion. The opposition needs eight yards? Give them twelve. Need to protect field-goal range? Back everybody onto Portage Avenue. Watching this defence communicate before the snap is like watching six tourists assemble furniture without the instructions. The crazy part is there are still some genuine ballplayers trapped inside this travelling carnival. Brady remains the engine. Trey Va-VOOM is one of the most dangerous returners in the country. Willie Sackerson and Jake Sack-resna can still wreck an offensive line. Nic Demski continues to fight. But individual talent cannot overcome an organization that treats adjustment like an admission of guilt. Now the 9–1 Montreal Alouettes come marching into town. Mike O’Same will tell us the room is confident. Kyle Waiters will continue waiting. Jordan Yawner will station the secondary in St. Boniface. Tommy Con-Dull will discover a new method of reaching the four-yard line and emerging with three points. The prescription is painfully simple: FEED BRADY until the other club proves it can stop him. Play the best players—not the fellows with the longest service pins. Attack on defence instead of operating a government-funded receiver-relocation program. Bring in actual competition before the season becomes an archaeological exhibit. If the same problems keep producing the same losses…CHANGE SOMETHING. The dynasty is gone, folks. What remains is a 5–5 club living off the fumes of what it used to be, driven by coaches who appear convinced that stubbornness is a substitute for adjustment. But don’t worry. Mike O’Same says they’re only a couple plays away. Prolly.
