Anyone have a link to a site with CFL stats before 2016? cfl.ca only goes back that far and nobody his sniffed 1500 yards rushing in that time frame. Harris was the closest, but not that close.

This site has historical stats.  Probably not in the easiest format for you to pull from though.

Found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_Football_League_annual_rushing_leaders

In 15 years, Cornish once and Reynolds once. The year Cornish did it, he was MOP.

It's been 10 years since ANY RB hit 1,500.

Put some respect on Oliveira's name.

The last time someone did it was in 2013 - Jon Cornish.  A ridiculous 1800+ rushing yards.

So .. it's been a decade since anyone has come close to Brady's numbers.

With that said, the running game was much more prominent a decade ago.  Top running backs were all hovering around that 1500 yard mark.

And, BO is in his second season as a starter.

Let's not forget his 500 receiving yards and league leading 13 TDs.

By every metric, Brady has had the more exceptional season.

Objectively, he did more to help his team be successful than any other MOP nominee.   You take Kelly out of the Toronto offense, they still won games and still managed great field position in every contest they were in.  You take Brady off the Bombers, do we win the close games?  Do we grind out wins?  Chances are, no.

The award is for the Most OUTSTANDING Player. Kelly has performed exceptionally well as a first-year starter, but he hasn't quite reached the level of "outstanding". I can't recall any truly exceptional individual plays, highlight-reel throws, or remarkable sack evasions from him. Zach Collaros is undeniably an outstanding QB. Nathan Rourke was unquestionably outstanding last year. Chad Kelly took over the reigning Grey Cup Champion squad and has kept them performing consistently.

On the other hand, Brady Oliveira has truly been outstanding this year. He has made numerous exceptional individual efforts, dominated in the fourth quarter, excelled in all the RB statistical categories, and amassed over 2000 yards of individual offense. He is undoubtedly the most outstanding player of the 2023 season, and he achieved this with a Canadian passport to boot. The CFL media should give him the respect he deserves.

@TrueBlue4ever good job. Now show where Kelly's passing yardage ranks alltime. Lol

and TD passes in a season lol

I can legitimately say this much -

Only going back as far as 2016, there have been 18 QBs with more passing yards in a season than Kelly produced this year (20 if you pro-rate the 2021 season which was only 13 games), and 17 QBs with more single season TDs (18 if pro-rated to include 2021).  Consider that 7 year comparison  to Brady’s 70 year comparable span.

So Kelly has trully been.....outstanding...hahahaha....or shall we say average?....to good?

watch this....Duane Ford at around the 11:45 minute mark makes great sense...and nails the Argo thing on the head

Does anyone know if there is a playoff roster freeze in the CFL?  Argos picked this guy up and he was just released by the Riders 2 days ago. Would he be eligible to be on the active roster in the playoffs?

I rememeber there was some talk years ago when the TiCats picked up TJ Harris but I dont recall the details.

From CFL Transactions Bombers added 3 more recently, probably just look-sees for next season.

WPG ADD  AMER Terry WILSON (QB)    New Mexico

WPG ADD  AMER Ontaria WILSON (WR)    Florida State

WPG ADD  AMER Jamal WOODS (DL)    Illinois

Jamal Woods 6'-2" 290 lbs. #91 looks thick and powerful, better suited to DT than DE.

Ontaria "Pokey" Wilson WR 6'-0" 175 lbs. #80 good hands, looks smooth and fast.

Completely agree. Kelly did his job and did it well. Nothing more. BO exceeded all expectations.

Toronto's average starting field position and number of offensive series is by far the most in the CFL, yet they squandered a lot of those opportunities with a pretty pedestrian red zone efficiency.

wouldn't tops in the league redzone efficiency kind of indicate your QB was outstanding???....Not sure what 6th in the league indicates...definitely not outstanding

I only listened for about 20 mins... but this seems like a fantastic podcast... might help that Bob was on (unless he's a regular)... and providing full league wide coverage, not just the Ticats was nice.
