2019 Main Training Camp

(2019 Main Training Camp

Can’t remember a start to a main training camp where, even though we have openings at several spots (7?), we seem to have prepared to fill those spots with quality players and good prospects.

Highlights coming into camp are the signings of Willie Jefferson and most certainly Chris Mathews. Not to mention the signing of all our draft choices, some of whom could be dynamic.

We got bigger and better at receiver prospects.

We’ve stacked the defensive line to make it easier for Bighill.

We’ve added defensive backs and linebackers to fill any perceived shortcomings.

Little by little, day by day, shortcomings will be noticed and those players will fall by the wayside.

It’s training camp and the veterans will teach the newbies..in more than one way.

Today, medicals and film room. Good luck to all. Let’s put out the best lineup we possibly can.

Coach’s Show - June 3

Typical show.

Centre battle is close - Michael Couture, Cody Speller.

Desjarlais and Gray...playing well. Looking nasty.

Foketi - hopeful that he’ll be in their plans. 👁‍🗨Myself, I don’t see it.

Thompkins - Just hard to get a hold of him. 👁‍🗨I think he’s gone.

Eli - picking up the game very well after sitting out a year.

“Lot of upside on players. Be very hard to keep them all. For now, and the building a future roster.” - O’Shea

Bye week in second week allows decisions to allow nicked up players to heal another week with their present roster.

👁‍🗨In case there’s any doubt..

“It’s Nichols team. Streveler will play a huge part for this team.”

Bennett and McGuire will play Thursday.

Key areas to focus on Thursday- o-line, dbs, receivers, QB.

Looking forward to seeing more of Bennett and McGuire battling for that third QB position. Obviously Bennett has the experience but both looked more than capable last Friday. QB depth like the o-line can change in an instant and having guys that can be counted upon to play is important.

Just hard to get a hold of Thompkins?   I don't understand how this can be used as an excuse?  Unless the guy is a hippy like Tom Canada and off the grid I don't get it?

Well, funny thing about communication. It takes both sides to get it done. You can have phone numbers, emails, addresses etc etc. But if the other party ignores you...there will be a lack of communication.

I saw some videos of Kenbrell hanging out with Antonio Brown this offseason. Seems like both of those dudes have lost their damn minds.

But Brown's being paid.

there's probably more than enough money to go around. Kenbrell's 60k a year is probably peanuts to when AB is giving him to train with him.

IMO Thompkins is easily replaceable. We need to find our own zylstra or guy like that... Thompkins was never gonna be that guy.

He’s been hurt but also he’s not very good.

LOL  That's not a great combo.

Thought I remember reading, he was looking good, early in camp.  But I've had a lot on my plate lately, so that may be completely off base.

The guy has an agent.  Use his agent to get a hold of him. That's what they're for. Besides being paid too much $$$ than they're worth.

Gee I bet no one in the Bombers management thought of that....

LOL, well they make it sound like it's hard.

Well if the guy doesn't walk to talk why assume he will talk to his agent? I mean you can reach out all you like but if the other party doesn't want to reach back what do you do?

Not like we are chasing superstars, here....

People are taking this too literal. Who knows what goes down between the organization and the players in private. Obviously he doesn’t want to be playing football right, it’s just a very vague answer. He’s not going to throw Thompskins under the bus he has too much class for that.

2017 seems like a poor draft, although if Gray is who we think he is and plays 5-10 years, this opinion will change.

Looking at the 2017 draft class. It doesnt look like many are in the league still or have had much of an impact.

Absolutely. For us, Gray is the only one left. Now if we get 5-10 years of him as a starting OL that is still a decent draft to me.Yeah but looking at that draft not too many teams did well.
