Perfect example of why sometimes you need super slow mo to make the right call ie tipping the orange cone ever so slightly.

I saw the 9range cone move from the upper deck, but I thought he hit the outside of it.  I was a bit confused by the TD call because I thought you had to touch the inside for it to count.  Amazing shots of it on the tv replay though, that tiptoe and dive was incredible.

Fear can make people do some really strange things.     Look at how insane people were at one point buying toilet paper.

I look back at Y2K and how some people thought nukes were going to be shot out and the world was going to end.    People can toss out all sorts of common sense when they are afraid of the unknown.

That being said it is known now and COVID isn't the end of the world,  it's just another part of life and people (despite the few folks on here virtue signalling)  have adjusted and are moving forward in life.

I'm just happy that everyone is back to school,  the kids are thrilled,  the CFL is going on and Bomber games are packed with fans cheering,  I can go out with friends to restaurants ,   life is good again and that's pretty awesome.     No complaints until January when the temp gets super cold and the yearly bitching about why I live in a city where the air hurts my face happens again :)

Me choosing to wear a mask doesn't stop me from moving forward in life.  There seem to be people around who think that wearing a mask (forced or by their own choice) is living in fear or virtue signaling and that's just BS.

It is being cautious, and in the case where a person has a cough, sore throat, consistent sneezing, then wearing a mask is a courtesy that they are doing for others.  Whether it's Covid or not, masking in public when you have symptoms of anything is something that we should have always been doing as far as I'm concerned.

I don't like getting sick with anything, so knowing what I know now, I will do what I can (within reason) to help reduce the risk of that happening.  Right now, that's wearing a mask in indoor public places as much as possible.  I wear a mask when I'm at my office even though it's not mandatory and I'm the only one wearing it, with the exception of the 1 or 2 people who have worn them when they have had a sore throat or cough (non-Covid).  I take it off to eat lunch at my desk and put it back on when I'm done... in doing so, I'm reducing my possible exposure to whatever may be floating around the air.  Is it 100%, no, but it's something that gives me a bit of peace of mind.

My wife & I went to see Steve Earle & The Dukes up in Edmonton at the River Cree Casino & Resort on the First Nations Reserve. Huge complex with a hotel, casino, four or 5 restaurants & an entertainment venue where the Dukes played. Probably 3,000 people there easily as it was packed. I was concerned about Covid at the time but I never got sick. No one was wearing a mask. We had dinner at one of the restaurants before the show. No one wore a mask. Went to the casino after the show & no one wore a mask.

We can talk about protecting each other & it sounds so noble. Thing of it is, if no one cares enough to wear a mask to protect me then I sure as hell ain't wearing a mask to protect anyone else. I'll continue to get my vaccinations. I'll follow whatever rules an establishment has in regards to masking. If I have to mask up, I will with no complaints. But my days of voluntarily wearing a mask in public are over. I think governments will be loathe to bring back restrictions. In other words, if people want to wear masks they will be free to do so. If people don't want to then they won't have to. We're moving into another phase of the pandemic & how it'll be handled.

In my mind, the bolded part is the big issue with society in general... rather than saying that we will all look out for each other, it's every man for themselves.  If everyone would take a step back and say, I'm going to do this to help others (and I'm not just talking about masks here), then people could and would be happier and the world would be a better place.  The selfish attitude of "I'm only going to look out for myself because nobody else will" is why there's so much hate out there.

I understand. Thing is, how many fans at Saturday's football game will be masked. A few hundred? Maybe?? Go to a mall, a grocery store or restaurant. In public no one masks anymore. My attitude is whatever. I 've done all I can. I follow the rules. I vaccinated 4 times. But if 99.999% of people don't mask, my wearing a mask means nothing. I just gave up.

You wearing a mask protects you from the people who are sick (with anything ie. cold, flu, covid, etc.), or protects others if you happen to be sick.  It's common in other parts of the world for people who are or have been sick to wear a mask as a courtesy to others and I think it would be nice if people here did the same.  Nothing political or anything about that, just courtesy for others.  Is a mask 100% effective, no, but neither are condoms or birth control yet people continue to use them.

To the comment that someone made about it restricting air flow... sure, a little, but if you have a proper fitting mask with some structure to it so that it doesn't get sucked into your mouth when you breath, it's not a problem to wear for the better part of a day.  I've done workouts and played sports with a mask on with little to no effect on my performance, so the air flow couldn't have been restricted all that much.

So much this! They constantly criticize and send blame to the Feds to win political points at home so they can mask their own cuts and attribute blame elsewhere.

I'm more familiar with the education sector than healthcare and in education this is also an issue. Especially in MB where we've basically abandoned our provincial source of income (education property tax) in order to win political points from property owners while going years without a plan how to fund education.

It's almost as if they want the population to stay poorly educated... because the polls show that they don't do well among the higher educated.

I think for the full Molson Stadium experience you've gotta be up in the stands.  It's an extraordinarily beautiful view from up there with the mountains and the city all laid out in front of you.  Especially at sunset during the summer.  for me, it's every bit as charming as people say it is.

(note that I find the view from IGF stunning as well, I come from the Canadian Shield and have never lived on the plains, so when I looked south from my IGF seats at night and saw the perfect curve of the horizon, that was weird and cool to me.)

Some of the sunsets at IGF have been pretty spectacular as well.  I sit in the upper deck on the East side and have a great view of it at every game.

Guy has a mechanical horn.  Shouldn’t be allowed in any CFL stadium.

The number of comments about how this is a new thing is strange to me because every game in Montreal that I can remember has had those horns.  I just took a quick look back at an old youtube of a Montreal game from 2010 and I could hear it... not as incessantly as last night, but it's been around for a while... and by the looks of the couple, it's likely been them the whole time.

So what team gives us the loss?

Last night was a turnover fest by Zach and still won going away with it.

Do we lose at all?  If we are 17 0 do u rest Zach and company game 18? Or do u go for 18 and 0 cuz 3 byes prob 4 in reality cuz Western Final runs through IG Field

I think that once we have 1st place locked up mathematically, they start resting guys and that's when we could lose... that being said, you can't rest everyone so some starters will still be playing, and Dru Brown has shown that he can play a pretty good game so time will tell.

It was probably discussed earlier in the thread, but it seemed odd that the Montreal int that was brought out to the 25 wasn't even discussed on the broadcast. It looked pretty clear to me he was down at the one.

Demski was definitely down at the one and Ford was talking about how it would have been a TD if he had secured it... clearly not, so I don't expect them to catch whether the defender was in or out of the endzone when he secured the catch and was down... I didn't look too closely, so won't comment on whether they made the right call on the spot.

Think someone was right by their crowd mic with a mechanical airhorn.  I've never heard that particular noise.  Wonder if team had something to do with it for the Whiteout promotion.  If so someone needs to tell them to check themselves.

Yes there's always pumped in noise there and the stupid "MAKE SOME NOISE" thing they blast just before the 20 second clock starts.

Montreal has had that stupid horn (or horns) for years.  As someone else mentioned, they even showed them on the broadcast pumping a small bike pump into a horn.  I didn't think any mechanical noise was allowed by the CFL rule book, but I haven't gone to look it up... yet.

    I never played football...

what goes into running a route? It doesnt seem that complicated in theory, yet some can, and some cant do it. also, finding open spot. why are some players able to do that?

I guess speed and start stop, quick cuts, but some players with physical ability cant do it well

when dressler played for sask... he was always open v. Bombers. it was irritating. and they couldnt tackle him. tip toing down the sidelines.

I think it's the same in many sports and just comes down to awareness... some guys just know what's going on around them and others don't.  I play Ultimate, and I can usually tell the people who've played other sports growing up because they tend to have an awareness of where others are on the field and that sort of thing, where some people are just clueless and always running into other people, or cutting people off.  I could see the same with the better route runners just knowing where the defenders and open spots are.  Some of it is from film study, knowing the other teams' tendencies, but a bigger part in my mind is that field awareness.  Ellingson, Schoen and Demski seem to have that awareness in spades because they are very good at finding the holes.

The part about running a route is the difference between being able to do a head fake and then a sharp 90 degree turn vs. just running a slow arc.  The crisp cuts will get you open, where the lazy arcs will make it super easy for the defender to stay with you.

CBC also wanted to deemphasize sports and only started at Labour Day. They weren't a great partner either.

It would be nice to see other bidders or something developing with streaming but the media players are so few in Canada not sure what other options there are.

Sportsnet would be the only other real option that I'm aware of.  And they seem to hate the CFL and look down on it as 2nd class to the NFL (typical TO mentality).
