I could have sworn they did that last year.... some kinda "no actual seat, but for $20 you can come in and watch from the concourse" thing........am I totally dreaming that?

I was going to say the same thing.  Pretty sure that was a thing last year.  I assumed that was a thing they would keep doing unless they found that it was scavenging full ticket sales.  Maybe they only offer it for sellouts?

I'm really soaking up the game day today. For the next month, I'll be on the road for work with a weird, disrupted schedule. After tonight's game, I won't be able to watch the next 4 games live, and some I'll just have to listen to via the CJOB archive, 'cause I'll be living out of a hotel without PVR. Home (real home) for the Cgy game on the 25th of August, and hopefully somewhat normal schedule after that. Really looking forward to CJOB pre-game show, some pre-game elbow bending, and hopefully a fun discussion here through the game. Let's gooooooooooo fellassssssss!

You can't use the TSN app while on the road?  I don't know if it's only live, or if you can pause and stuff, but it's a decent option if you don't have any others.  Also, some hotels do have TSN :D

Time to go with Ellingson. Given my abysmal track record, my apologies to everyone I have just screwed over with that pick who went the same way.

Now the real betting question of the week, what is the over/under on the number of times Andrew Harris’ helmet comes off? I’m thinking 2.5.

I'd take the over on that one... The only way I see it staying under is if he gets hurt early.

If Rose is hurt, this is a good time to let someone else show what they've got... I thought Houston was decent in spot duty last year... let's see what he can do in a full game and then the team will know what they have

I agree with Bubba, I seem to remember Houston getting burned a lot last year.  Now, with how much Rose has been getting burned in the last 2 games, maybe the swap would be a wash... time will tell.

and contrary to some beliefs here..."targeting" is considered...looked at/for and a real thing even if not specifically worded as such in the rule book

Is that not what they generally use to consider whether there should be a fine or not?  If they feel it was targeted, they will fine the offending player, but if it was accidental, then they usually don't issue a fine?

I don't make up rules. I post the rules. Targeting isn't a rule. It wasn't helmet to helmet. The receiver wasn't in a vulnerable position. The ball wasn't past him when he was hit.

I'm not surprised that the DB was fined. That doesn't make it a penalty in real time.

If you don't want me to reply, then don't post 'alternate facts' IE: lies.

    CFL Rulebook for 2022

    Article 4 - Unnecessary Roughness

    g. Delivering a blow to an opponent in the neck or head

Doesn't say anything about targeting, but it is absolutely in the rules that it is Unnecessary Roughness for hitting a player in the head, should have been a penalty, that's why it was fined.

Evans came in and lead with forearm and elbow to top of head...go watch it it's obvious....and that extra force when he was already basically down and tackled caused the head to bounce on turf...total missed call...and if u want to protect QB's and send that message...anything like that should be called

Griffin actually tucked his chin and led with his helmet, which I'm pretty sure is also not allowed.  I would argue that both guys could have been called on that play.

EXACTLY....And his PI call where he got the interception too was pretty weak call...he was just fine in his first game with a new group.....and the fact he is a league veteran who knows most of the players, and seen most of the schemes/routes etc....will basically eliminate any rookie errors that a new guy would make, and allow him to play fast and not have to think of things...will be mostly instinctive and reactive....which is huge

I actually thought the PI call was pretty legit.  If you watch the replay he's chasing the guy, grabs his waist to slow him down and then pushes by to get the INT.

Maybe they aren't happy with Prukop.  Between his FG hold he botched and the way he runs short yardage, it can't hurt to have another option.

Mancuso saw no pre-season action so we have no idea what he brings to the table yet.

I could definitely see it being Prukop.  He didn't handle a single catch cleanly on the kicks.

Whether or not they were running plays, I was good with keeping Collaros out the rest of the night. From my seat in 226, Collaros looked like he was on another planet after that hit. It was more than a little concerning. Hoping he's alright, long term...

Agreed, I saw as soon as he got up from the hit that he looked a little unsteady on his feet.  I was very happy to see that he got pulled from the game after that hit.  When he went to go back on the field, he looked a lot more steady.

No any unnecessary roughness or objectionable conduct.  2 and out.

    From CFL.ca:

Change: Automatic ejection of any player guilty of two unnecessary roughness penalties or two objectionable conduct penalties (or a combination of two UR and OC penalties) for infractions that occur following a play. This will discourage the type of conduct that can threaten player safety and disrupt game flow.
